In the car.

Fiona Linton sat in the passenger seat and couldn’t help but say, "Chloe, I heard Mr. Vance followed you all the way to your grandmother’s house?"

Chloe Reed paused slightly, then picked up her phone and typed, "He went there for work."

Fiona laughed. "Work, my foot! I bet that’s just an excuse. Mr. Vance clearly likes you. He hasn’t hidden his desire to be with you even the slightest bit. What do you think about it?"

A hint of helplessness surfaced in Chloe’s clear, watery eyes as she typed, "What else can I think? I’m so outstanding; isn’t it perfectly normal for someone to like me?"

"Hahaha, I just love that about you!" Fiona clapped her hands in amusement. "Exactly! There are so many people who like you out there. Are you supposed to respond to every single one of them?" Then, she turned to Walker Grant and added, "Walker, you only had the advantage of meeting Chloe early. If you’d been even a little bit later, it would never have been your turn to marry her."

Walker’s expression had remained placid the entire time. In a mild tone, he said, "Chloe was the one who pursued me."

"What?!" Fiona’s eyes immediately went wide with shock. She turned to look at them, her gaze darting back and forth between their faces before finally settling on Chloe, desperate to know the truth. "Chloe, is he telling the truth?"

Chloe nodded, then typed, "I was completely blind back then."

Fiona could hardly believe it. She had always assumed Walker was the one who went after Chloe.

Walker’s voice drifted over, tinged with a hint of grievance. "Chloe, I was so easy to pursue. You caught me right away, but you didn’t cherish me."

Fiona’s lips twitched. How dare this man play the victim? Who was the one really failing to cherish the other?

Chloe’s clear eyes cast a cool gaze upon Walker. Even though he couldn’t see, he could still feel that the stare she leveled at him was terribly amiss.

He pursed his thin lips and spoke up. "I was the one who didn’t know how to cherish you. You loved me so passionately, yet I only caused you pain and sorrow. Damn me."

"Tch." Fiona curled her lip once more, even rolling her eyes.

Chloe, however, didn’t express anything. She just turned her head to look out the window. He had said similar things many times before, but her heart remained completely unfazed. Right now, her only desire was for his eyes to recover quickly.

Upon returning to Jardinelle, they unexpectedly bumped into Judith Pierce and Noah.

"Uncle Walker, Aunt Chloe, Aunt Fiona!" Noah sat in his custom-made little wheelchair, greeting them with immense joy the moment he saw them return.

Fiona quickly walked over and pinched his little cheeks with a smile. "Noah, long time no see! Why does it feel like you’ve gotten a bit chubbier?"

Noah’s large, beautiful eyes sparkled as he replied in his childish voice, "Grandma makes me all kinds of delicious food every day, so of course I’d get chubby!"

Fiona looked at Judith. "Ms. Pierce, how have you been lately?"

Judith smiled gently. "I’ve been quite well. I just spend my days with Noah and don’t think about anything else. I only hope that Noah can grow up healthy; that’s enough for me." Then, her gaze fell upon Walker’s face, a hint of heartache surfacing in her eyes. "Have Walker’s eyes still not healed?"

Fiona nodded, her expression complex as she explained, "I’ve been constantly adjusting his prescriptions and treatment plans, but there still hasn’t been much effect. However, the toxins are almost completely cleared out. Who knows, he might just wake up one day and be able to see again."
