Chapter 1450: Chapter 1450: Political Marriage

"Mr. Pei Yan, there’s no need for such sarcastic remarks. Our collaboration with the Holy City Demon Race predates the inception of your civilization. These demons are under the jurisdiction of the three major councils of our Magic Realm, so we naturally have the right to issue a warrant for their arrest! Not only them, but any entity from another realm that violates our Magic Realm’s laws is within our rights to apprehend."

The Bright Bishop’s words caused the brows of those present from the three major realms to furrow slightly. The underlying threats in his latter statement were quite apparent, clearly indicating that they did not want others meddling in this matter. If anyone were to interfere, the three major councils would be justified in issuing a warrant for them as well. Despite the threats made by someone who wasn’t at the ultimate peak of the Heavenly Dao, Jin He Xuan, Liu Xuanji, and others felt disdain in their hearts. Yet, the principle that the mighty dragon shouldn’t oppress the local serpent holds true in every realm. This was the headquarters of the three major councils, where experts from the Magic Realm were as numerous as clouds. There was no point in seeking trouble over this matter. To them, witnessing the start of this unexpected drama by accompanying Pei Yan here was already a delightful surprise regarding this mission. As for what to do next, that would depend on how the situation unfolds before making a decision.

"Your argument does seem reasonable, and you certainly have the right to apprehend them. However, it’s not excessive for me to inquire about what exactly happened, is it?" Pei Yan did not confront this issue directly but rather expressed his need diplomatically.

"I’m sorry, Mr. Pei Yan, you aren’t a native of the Hell Plane, so even if you were to inquire, it should be from a standpoint...," the Bright Bishop was interrupted by the Witch who nudged his arm. He looked at her in confusion, but under her gaze, he suddenly remembered something and attempted to change his response, though it was already too late.

Seeing his opponent fall into the trap, Pei Yan chuckled and quickly interjected, "Since you say that, I have even more reason to inquire. Jessica, tell them my status amongst the Demon Race."

"Lord Pei Yan is the noblest Prince Silver Wing of our Demon Race! He is the child of the Demon God himself!" Jessica shouted out Pei Yan’s status with pride.

These words made Pei Yan feel slightly embarrassed, muttering inwardly that he was merely a nominal child, and the latter sentence wasn’t really necessary. However, given the circumstances, he had to acknowledge it to gain the right to take charge of the matter, following up on Jessica’s words: "A Demon Race Prince certainly has the right to inquire about unjust treatment of Demon Race members in another realm, doesn’t he? Moreover, Jessica’s brother is my retainer; you can investigate this matter freely! She likewise equates to my retainer! Do I not even have the qualification to inquire about my retainer?"

"Uh~!" The Bright Bishop and the Witch exchanged glances, realizing they couldn’t stop him. But some matters really shouldn’t be made public. Even if outsiders didn’t discover this incident, the Demon God at the Holy City would be furious afterward. Yet, due to the current predicament of the Hell Plane and their need for reinforcements from the Magic Realm, he might sacrifice his subordinates’ interests and chose to endure. Once exposed and known universally, he would have to intervene personally, whether to appease the emotions of the Demon Race nobility or to maintain the dignity of the Holy City.

Hence, Audess Witch, who had come from the investigation office and been liaising with them, stepped forward to mediate: "Mr. Pei Yan, we don’t wish to damage the recently repaired friendship between us because of this matter. I believe your superiors urged you to leave here quickly for the same reason. This incident from start to finish is an accidental sudden event; we aren’t targeting you and don’t wish you to have excess thoughts. I advise you not to interfere and get in trouble. Once you know the truth, you might find yourself in a difficult situation."

"Audess Witch, is it? We never had any friendship before, and looking at today’s circumstances, there won’t likely be any afterward. You needn’t worry about what situation I might land in, I merely want to know if I have the right to learn the truth! If not me, then who else could?" Pei Yan adamantly questioned, refusing to accept her point.

Witnessing Pei Yan’s aggressive stance, the emotions of the people from the three major councils immediately surged. They wanted to argue with Pei Yan but were stopped by Audess. She shook her head, smiled wryly, and conceded: "Alright! Since Mr. Pei Yan insists on diving into this mire, we can’t do much! We’ve issued our warning and hope, after learning the so-called truth, you maintain your rationality. If not, you’ll need the courage and strength to bear the consequences."

She then diverted her gaze from Pei Yan and addressed those sent to assist from other realms during this action: "Ladies and gentlemen, are you certain you want to get swept into this farce too?"

"Uh~!" Jin He Xuan and Liu Xuanji exchanged glances and had brief eye contact exchanges with their companions. In the end, it was Lin Daozi who responded: "We still need to decide whether to intervene based on how things develop. As of now, we merely want to be observers, so we can respond if our master inquires about the cause afterward."

"The Dragon Realm shares Young Master Lin’s view," Long Jin came forward to echo.

"Okay then! Ask away! But I sincerely hope, once you learn of the matter, it ends right here! Do not delve deeper and do not spread this matter outside. This is just a minor issue amid the four major realms." At this point, Audess paused, looked at Pei Yan with profound meaning, and said, "Forgive me! The major affair confronting the Blood Alliance across the five major realms shouldn’t involve unnecessary ripples because of this."

"Now I want to hear just how minor this issue is," Pei Yan said, glancing toward the crowd in front, his gaze settled onto Bailang: "Old Ye, go check on him!"

Without further ado, Ye Ruozai moved beside Bailang, crouched down, and after examination, he raised his head to report: "He’s severely drained and exhausted and has several severe injuries. Though not immediately fatal, given his current physical state, procrastination might endanger his life. His soul is unharmed, so he doesn’t need my healing; the injuries surpass my abilities."

Since his soul wasn’t damaged, it was good news, Pei Yan nodded upon hearing this and signaled to Hu Jiu, empowering him with superior healing abilities to take over Ye Ruozai in providing treatment to Bailang.

Having ensured this matter was handled, Pei Yan then turned to question Jessica: "Speak! How did Sifuer die?" Right after posing this question, he palmed his forehead, steadying his slightly heated mind with anger and asked instead: "Before answering this, tell me why you all appeared here?"

"Lord Pei Yan, weren’t you aware? The Holy City chose matrimony to form an alliance with the three major councils! Miss Sifuer was the chosen one!"
