Chapter 1425: Confronting the Enemy
Chapter 1425: Chapter 1425: Confronting the Enemy
"Those foolish ones, thinking there’s hope for survival by staying there? Idiots! A siege of over forty people! I didn’t see others, just those around me had at least the aura of a Count, meaning we’re being besieged by a group of Level 7 abilities users. The longer it drags on under such circumstances, the worse the outcome will be." Marco, with his body refined, took a bottle of Blood Essence from his Storage Necklace and drank it down.
"How could there be so many people besieging us? We’re just a small team scattered outside!" Another newly formed member of the Blood Race complained.
With a crisp "snap," Marco casually threw the empty bottle aside, shattering it, and snorted coldly, "Instead of worrying about this, think about how they found our hideout! Damn it! We’ve been cautious enough without activating any previous strongholds, yet they still found us."
"These people were brought by Kasman. Kasman was discovered while contacting the family. Could it be that the family stronghold has already fallen?" Matilda cautiously voiced the guess everyone dreaded the most deep down.
"Non-sense! How could the family stronghold fall? Do you not know the situation there?" Marco was the first to jump up to refute upon hearing this.
"Enough! Stop arguing!" said Gleeman, his mind a chaotic mess, as he forced himself to calm down and commanded, "Regardless of the reason, we must be more cautious than ever. For the time being, do not contact the family. Moreover, we can’t stay here long. This is the hidden blood source conversion site for our entire team, and there’s no guarantee those left behind weren’t captured and subjected to soul interrogation to reveal this place. We must relocate immediately."
"Alright!" With the recent experience, no one objected to Gleeman’s caution and responded in unison.
"You won’t be going anywhere!"
No sooner had they finished speaking than they heard a mocking voice from outside the manor. Gleeman and the others stood up in shock, only to see countless bright dots of light penetrating through the cracks in the surrounding walls into the room. Before they could react, they saw a red light all around and then heard a series of violent explosions that blasted the entire house into the sky.
Amid the roaring explosions, three figures emerged from the burning villa ruins. The battered Gleeman looked up at the sky, his expression turning from shock to despair, and finally fell into madness.
Thirty people, thirty abilities users! Having used the Blood Escape Technique once, the three of them couldn’t perform it again. As Gleeman realized it was impossible to escape unscathed, he dashed towards the enemy’s array with a do-or-die mindset, puzzled as to how the opponent tracked them down so quickly.
Scenes like this played out in different regions of the Magic dimension. Pei Yan, upon entering, didn’t immediately attack the ever-changing Vlad family stronghold. Instead, he divided the team into several large squads to carry out targeted attacks on scattered Vlad family members. After fusing the bloodlines of Little Vlad and Delacuri, Pei Yan now possessed near-absolute control over this bloodline. Once he applied the bloodline tracking method, no member of the Vlad family could hide from him. Each dispatched agent carried a communicator, directing operations from Pei Yan at the center, to strike one by one with a greater number against fewer.
Thus, scattered Vlad family members fell one by one under the Investigation Squad’s overwhelming numerical advantage. In this process, the investigators suffered no losses. Aside from their numerical and strength advantage and the element of surprise, the crucial factor was Pei Yan’s discovery of the Blood Race’s magical shortcoming.
The Blood Race’s magic was notoriously tricky, but it wasn’t without flaws — notably, their lack of a one-hit-kill method. Apart from higher-level crushing lower-level opponents, Blood Race members of the same level often wear the enemies out using their magic. This aspect indeed troubled others considerably. But against Pei Yan, it was ineffective. Every participating investigator was informed of the essential points of fighting the Blood Race, and if misfortune led to being hit by their magic, they should immediately retreat without lingering, returning to the temporary command center where Pei Yan personally dispelled the magical effects before re-engaging in battle. This rendered the Vlad family members’ resistance futile, and they were annihilated amid infinite confusion and frustration.
Pei Yan sat in a room, snacking while listening to the messages transmitted back from team after team of his subordinates, revising the search directions based on feedback. It had been three days since he arrived in the Magic dimension, during which dispersed Vlad family members were systematically cleared. Some, upon receiving news, chose to flee, but more aimed to return to the family stronghold for aid.
Pei Yan didn’t chase those who returned to the Vlad family because he would eventually head there. He wished to eliminate the Vlad family members gathered in one place. After marking the last few targets escaping outside and sending that information out, Pei Yan looked at Xia Yu and Zheng Jia Ru in the room and said, "You two, go personally and bring those two young masters here! At this final juncture, the family should perish orderly, all together."
No need to elaborate; Xia Yu understood who Pei Yan referred to. The two acknowledged and left the room, heading towards the Keystone dimension headquarters.
By later that day, when the last group of abilities users reported back, stating that all scattered Vlad family members had been cleared, Xia Yu and Zheng Jia Ru returned with a small group from the Keystone dimension, escorting Moira and Radu into the camp.
"Two young masters, and miss! Haven’t you been yearning to go home day and night? Tomorrow, tomorrow I’ll take you back home." Pei Yan looked down, teasing the two who seemed to have lost their will to live.
The decision to notify the Magic dimension in advance and obtain their permission was indeed proven correct. Although they didn’t aid in the siege, they provided and opened access to the Magic dimension’s spatial coordinates and teleportation rights. Their assistance allowed the Investigation Squad to travel back and forth across the Magic dimension in such a short time.
With this assistance, they also applied enough pressure on the Dark Council, leading to the Vlad family’s requests for help from other Blood Races being repeatedly rejected. Whether it’s because other Blood Races wanted to avoid trouble from being investigated and targeted by the three great councils, or because the Vlad family was too arrogant and unpopular, leading others to opportunistically abandon them — people outside wouldn’t know.
"So this is one of your family stronghold’s hiding places? If I hadn’t absorbed some of your father Delacuri’s bloodline memory, I would never have guessed it would be hidden in such a place?"
