Origin Summoner: All My Summons Are Broken
Chapter 99: What kind of human was this?
Chapter 96
Thousands of arrows blanketed the sky, each one formed from deadly webstrings sharp enough to cut through the toughest steel as though it were nothing more than tofu. Their silvery surfaces reflected the light as they descended in overwhelming numbers, all converging on a single target.
Orion.
With Orion trapped in midair and countless arrows raining down upon him from every direction, his fate seemed all but decided. Suspended above the ground with nowhere to place his feet or gain leverage, escaping such an attack would have been nearly impossible for most people.
At least, that would have been true for an ordinary person.
Orion, however, was anything but ordinary.
Powerful waves of telekinetic force surged outward, enveloping his entire body as he manipulated the surrounding space with incredible precision. The force supporting him shifted almost instantaneously, allowing him to move through the air with the lightness of a feather despite the dangerous situation.
His application of telekinesis had reached an astonishing level of complexity. Every movement, adjustment of force, and change in direction was calculated and executed with near-perfect precision.
It was no longer simply a matter of pushing or pulling objects with his mind. Orion was manipulating the force around his own body, controlling his movements in midair and adjusting his position as naturally as someone walking across solid ground.
One could even say that he had gained the ability to fly.
His body moved through the air with extraordinary agility as he evaded the incoming arrows. Whenever a projectile approached too quickly for him to dodge or change direction in time, he simply raised one of his twin daggers and deflected it.
Clang!
Clang!
Clang!
The sharp sounds of metal striking the deadly webstrings rang through the air as Orion’s daggers moved in rapid succession. Each strike redirected an arrow away from his body, sending it spinning into the distance or causing it to collide with another incoming projectile.
However, something suddenly changed.
The arrows that had already flown past Orion began moving again, their trajectories shifting unnaturally as they turned around and surged back toward him with renewed speed. It was as though an invisible marker had been placed on his body, allowing every arrow to track his position and pursue him wherever he went.
Orion’s rainbow-colored eyes narrowed slightly.
So, they can change direction after being fired.
Interesting.
He continued moving through the air with composure, twisting, leaning, and adjusting his position while blocking and breaking apart the arrows that came within reach of his daggers. Despite the increasing number of projectiles converging on him, his breathing remained steady, and neither his posture nor the confidence in his movements showed any sign of faltering.
More arrows surged toward him, followed by another wave and then another. They barreled through the air at full force, converging from every conceivable direction as their relentless assault gradually filled every available opening around his body.
Yet, as the arrows continued colliding with his daggers, their momentum began to weaken.
One after another, they lost speed as though an invisible force were interfering with their movements. Some were pushed off course, while others struggled against the telekinetic pressure surrounding Orion, their trajectories becoming increasingly difficult to maintain.
His gaze sharpened.
Right about... now.
Orion suddenly kicked against the air as though it were a solid surface, propelling himself forward. At the same time, he crossed his twin daggers before his chest, forming the shape of an X, then slowly closed his eyes and released a calm breath.
For a brief moment, the countless arrows surrounding him seemed insignificant.
Then he struck.
Orion poured his telekinetic force into the crossed daggers, and a massive X-shaped aura erupted from their blades. One side burned with an intense crimson light, while the other shone with brilliant blue radiance. The two colors intertwined, forming a tremendous dual-colored cross that tore through the air with tremendous force.
Rather than rushing toward the arrows surrounding him, the massive X shot directly toward Orion’s blind spot, targeting a particular location in the air where nothing appeared to be present.
Yet Orion knew exactly where to strike.
A second later, a figure suddenly appeared at that very spot.
The Webfiend Lord.
The dungeon boss’s countless eyes widened slightly as genuine surprise seized it. It had never expected the human to anticipate its movements so accurately, much less prepare an attack specifically aimed at the exact location where it intended to emerge.
How is that possible?
Before the Webfiend Lord could react, the enormous dual-colored X slammed into its body, tearing through it with overwhelming force.
Its body split directly down the middle, the two halves separating violently as its numerous limbs scattered outward. The massive aura continued forward, leaving destruction in its wake before finally dissipating into the distance.
Orion opened his eyes.
He was already preparing to press forward and continue his assault when something unexpected happened.
One of the Webfiend Lord’s severed hands suddenly moved. The hand that had been holding its scythe hurled the weapon toward him with astonishing speed, sending the blade tearing through the air.
It took less than a second for the scythe to appear directly in front of Orion’s face.
Whoosh!
Orion’s pupils contracted as he twisted his body at the last possible moment, narrowly avoiding the blade as it passed his face by the thinnest of margins.
A second later, he landed, his feet touching the ground with a light impact. He settled into a composed stance as though he had merely stepped down from a short height.
However, a thin line of blood had already appeared along the side of his cheek. A large gash marked his skin, and several drops of crimson blood trickled down his face.
Orion raised a hand and calmly wiped away the blood, examining the red stain on his fingers with his rainbow-colored eyes. Neither panic nor anger appeared in his expression.
So, I’ve finally been injured.
This was the first time Orion had suffered an injury since entering the battle himself. If he included the injuries sustained by his clone, however, this was the second time he had been injured since the dungeon break began.
It was a rather interesting development.
Throughout the battle, he had overwhelmed his enemies with superior strength, speed, and technique. Even when the Webfiends grew stronger, he continued dominating them without suffering any serious injuries.
Yet the dungeon boss had managed to draw blood.
Orion shifted his gaze toward the monster, still considering what that meant when something moved beneath his feet.
Several webs suddenly burst out of the ground, shooting upward with incredible speed. They wrapped around his legs before climbing toward his waist and torso, while additional strands surged toward his arms and bound them tightly against his body.
Within moments, the deadly webstrings had completely enveloped him, forming a thick cocoon that sealed him inside a prison of silvery strands. His movements became restricted as the layers of webbing tightened around him with every passing second.
Orion’s gaze shifted slightly as he examined his predicament.
Meanwhile, the Webfiend Lord’s body had already joined together once more. Its severed halves reconnected, and its wounds rapidly healed as its numerous limbs returned to their proper positions.
The monster stood before Orion, its countless eyes fixed on the white-haired human trapped inside the cocoon.
"Look at you..."
Satisfaction crept into the Webfiend Lord’s voice as it regarded its captive.
"Your overconfidence will lead to your downfall."
It chuckled darkly, clearly pleased with the situation Orion had found himself in.
Throughout its existence, the Webfiend Lord had hunted countless humans. It had encountered warriors who fought desperately, those who begged for their lives, and others who attempted to flee as soon as they realized they were facing an opponent beyond their capabilities.
Humans were predictable creatures.
When confronted with overwhelming power, most eventually revealed their fear. Some became reckless, others panicked, and a few desperately tried to bargain for their lives.
The Webfiend Lord had grown accustomed to such reactions, and that predictability was part of what made hunting humans so satisfying.
If anyone had told it that a day would come when it would need to rely on tricks and tactics just to kill a single human, it would have outright denied the possibility. It would even have been furious at the very suggestion.
Yet here it was, forced to use every advantage available against this white-haired human.
And the most infuriating part was that Orion had not shown the slightest hint of fear throughout their encounter.
Even now, trapped inside a deadly web cocoon with his movements restricted, the human’s gaze remained unnervingly calm, almost indifferent, as though the situation meant absolutely nothing to him.
The Webfiend Lord found that attitude deeply irritating.
Where was the terror? Where was the fear?
What kind of human was this?
