Chapter 95

For a brief moment, Orion’s figure seemed to split into multiple afterimages, each flash of white followed by another wound as his daggers tore through the Webfiend Lord’s flesh. Every movement left behind a trail of blood and shredded tissue, and by the time he finally stopped, the monster had suffered enough damage to kill almost any ordinary creature several times over.

Then a mighty growl erupted from the Webfiend Lord.

"GRAAAAAHHHH!"

The roar shook the surrounding air as a violent wave of force burst outward, striking Orion squarely and launching him backward like a speeding bullet.

Orion’s eyes narrowed slightly as his body shot through the air. Before the force could carry him too far, however, telekinetic energy caught him and brought his movement to an abrupt halt. He hung in midair for a brief moment before lowering himself toward the ground, landing with the same calm grace he had displayed throughout the battle.

His white clothes fluttered gently as he straightened, the twin daggers still firmly gripped in his hands. His expression remained composed, though a hint of annoyance had begun to creep into his thoughts.

Isn’t this boss supposed to be Level 20?

Orion glanced at the Webfiend Lord, wondering why it seemed so weak.

He had expected more, much more. The creature possessed a frightening aura, a grotesque appearance, and an impressive collection of weapons, yet once Orion began combining Flash with his physical abilities, the monster struggled to keep up with him.

Its regeneration was certainly useful, but that alone wasn’t enough to make the battle exciting. Orion had wanted an opponent capable of pushing him to his limits, someone who could force him to use everything at his disposal.

So far, the Webfiend Lord hadn’t come close.

"GRAAAAAHHHH!"

The monster continued roaring in fury, its remaining limbs trembling as the countless eyes covering its head glowed with an increasingly violent red light. Orion watched it without moving, then noticed that the wounds he had inflicted were beginning to disappear.

The deep gashes across the Webfiend Lord’s torso gradually closed, the torn flesh twisting and merging until the damage vanished as though it had never existed. Severed tissues reconnected, the flow of blood stopped, and the grotesque injuries healed one after another.

Within moments, the creature’s body had returned to its previous condition.

Orion raised an eyebrow. "Self-healing ability? Interesting."

He watched the regeneration with mild curiosity, showing no particular concern about the monster restoring itself. If anything, the ability had given him more questions to investigate.

How far can this ability go?

Was there a limit to how much damage the monster could recover from? Did its regeneration consume mana or some other form of energy? Could he overwhelm it by inflicting too much damage at once?

There were plenty of questions he wanted answered, and he intended to find out.

For now, Orion simply waited for the Webfiend Lord to finish healing. He didn’t see a terrifying enemy standing before him; he saw a training dummy, a convenient opponent he could use to test the limits of his abilities.

The wounds eventually disappeared completely, and the monster’s severed limbs began to regrow. Fresh tissue emerged from the damaged stumps, twisting together as new flesh and bone took shape. The regeneration continued from the ends of the limbs upward until every missing part had been restored.

One after another, the Webfiend Lord’s hands returned, the newly regrown limbs flexing in the air as their fingers clenched and unclenched. Faint cracking sounds accompanied their movements, and the surrounding air trembled as the creature tested its restored body.

Soon, the Webfiend Lord was whole again, without a single wound remaining.

Orion continued watching with mild interest, patiently waiting for the creature to finish whatever it was doing.

The Webfiend Lord turned its grotesque head toward him, fixing its countless eyes on the white-haired human standing calmly before it.

A thought entered its mind.

Arrogance.

The human was looking down on it!

Prideful human fool!

The realization sent its already furious rage soaring. It had been wounded, dissected, and humiliated, yet throughout the entire process, the human had barely changed his expression. He hadn’t even bothered to attack while it was regenerating, choosing instead to stand there and watch.

It was as though the Webfiend Lord wasn’t worth taking seriously.

The creature’s rage became almost tangible as its metallic webstrings burst forward once more, twisting and coalescing into numerous weapons. This time, however, every weapon it formed was a scythe.

Some curved toward the right, while others bent toward the left. A few possessed unusual sideways blades, their sharp edges designed to strike from angles that would be difficult to anticipate. Each weapon had a different shape, but they all radiated the same deadly sharpness.

The Webfiend Lord’s twelve hands reached for the weapons and gripped them tightly, its countless eyes flashing with satisfaction.

It took a step forward.

Then it vanished.

In the next instant, the scythes appeared around Orion, attacking from every direction at once. The blades formed a deadly pincer assault, threatening to cut him apart before he could find a way out.

The air filled with the sharp, metallic shriek of moving blades, but Orion’s expression remained calm as his Origin Eyes activated to their fullest extent.

The world changed before him.

Every movement of the Webfiend Lord became clearer, from the slightest shift in its limbs to the smallest adjustment in the angles of its weapons. Even the subtle changes in the flow of its attacks became visible, allowing Orion to perceive the trajectories, timing, and spaces between the blades.

At the same time, he mobilized his attributes to their fullest potential, bringing his speed and reactions into alignment with the information his Origin Eyes provided.

The first scythe swept toward his neck, and he leaned backward to avoid it. A second blade came for his chest, forcing him to twist sideways, while a third descended toward his shoulder. Orion stepped forward and slipped beneath it by a hair’s breadth.

More scythes followed, but he continued moving between them with extraordinary precision, evading each attack by the narrowest possible margin.

The blades tore through the air around him, their sharp edges leaving thin trails of silver light. One passed over his head, another swept beneath his feet, and a third curved around from behind, attempting to catch him as he dodged the others.

However, his Origin Eyes continued analyzing the entire assault, allowing him to read the attacks before they fully unfolded. Orion moved, dodged, twisted, and shifted his weight, every action calculated to carry him away from the path of another deadly blade.

For a while, he managed to avoid everything.

However, the Webfiend Lord’s attacks continued growing faster, the scythes sweeping through the air with increasing speed as their trajectories became more complicated. The monster was adjusting its assault, making each successive attack harder to predict and evade.

Orion’s eyes narrowed.

His physical speed was already extraordinary, but even his heightened attributes had limits. His Origin Eyes could reveal the incoming attacks, analyze their trajectories, and help him predict where the next strike would come from. Yet knowing where a blade would land didn’t automatically mean his body could move fast enough to avoid it.

The Webfiend Lord was exploiting that difference.

Its scythes came from every direction, forcing Orion to react continuously without giving him enough time to counterattack. One blade swept toward his neck while another attacked his ribs. He evaded both, only for a third to descend from above. After twisting away from that strike, he immediately found two more scythes cutting toward his legs.

The assault was becoming increasingly difficult to handle through physical movement alone.

Damn.

Orion clicked his tongue inwardly.

Looks like I’ll have to use Flash again.

He activated the skill.

DING!

[Flash Skill Activated!]

His body surged forward in a burst of speed, allowing him to escape the encircling scythes before they could close in around him. The blades sliced through empty air as Orion emerged several metres away, his twin daggers rotating smoothly in his hands while he prepared to launch a counterattack.

His eyes remained fixed on the Webfiend Lord.

He had finally found something worth paying attention to.

Before he could move, however, his instincts suddenly screamed.

Danger!

Orion’s expression changed as his body twisted sharply. He used telekinesis to pull himself sideways at incredible speed, narrowly escaping the next attack.

Several thin spiderweb lines struck downward.

SHING! SHING! SHING!

The silvery threads sliced through the space where he had been standing, striking the ground with such precision that fine lines appeared across the earth. The surface split apart as the webstrings continued downward, carving through the ground as though it were made of soft clay.

What made Orion narrow his eyes wasn’t merely their sharpness. It was the fact that the webstrings had sliced straight through his telekinetic force.

For a brief moment, even he was surprised.

"That is..."

His words trailed off as he processed what had just happened.

Shocking.

Telekinesis was one of his most useful abilities. It allowed him to exert force at a distance, manipulate objects, and even interfere with an opponent’s movements. Yet those thin webstrings had cut through the force he used to pull himself sideways.

They hadn’t merely slipped past his defense.

They had sliced through it.

Before Orion could examine the phenomenon further, another wave of danger emerged from the direction in which he was moving.

His eyes widened slightly as he turned his head.

Too late.

The Webfiend Lord wasn’t merely capable of fighting directly.

The bastard could scheme as well.

The ground beneath Orion suddenly erupted.

BOOOOOOM!

The earth split apart as thousands of thin, silvery arrows shot upward. Formed from the same deadly webstrings that had nearly caught him moments earlier, each strand had been sharpened to an almost unbelievable degree.

The arrows multiplied as they rose, spreading across the sky until they formed a vast, glimmering canopy above the battlefield.

Then they turned, their countless points aiming downward.

Toward Orion.

In the next instant, the sky rained death.
