Chapter 84

If only the final effect of Origin State had activated...

The thought crossed Orion’s mind as he continued fighting.

If that last perk had been available to him, this battle would have been far smoother and easier than what he was currently experiencing. He wouldn’t have needed to struggle so much against the overwhelming numbers, nor would he have been forced to conserve his stamina so carefully.

Unfortunately, the final perk remained inactive, and until it activated, he would have to make do with what he had.

Just as that thought crossed his mind, the system screen he had been ignoring throughout the battle suddenly displayed a new message. Orion shifted his attention toward it, and a small smile appeared on his face.

Ding! Congratulations, Host, for successfully reaching Level 2!

Ding! The Host is currently in Origin State.

Origin Multiplication has been activated. All stats have increased by a multiplier of two!

Orion’s eyes widened slightly as he felt the changes taking place within his body.

His attributes surged.

The physical strength he possessed seemed to multiply in an instant, while the mental attributes supporting his perception, intelligence, and overall control increased just as dramatically. The transformation was immediate, and he could feel the difference coursing through every part of his body.

His stats changed in real time.

His physical attributes, which had previously been at 35, rose to 70. His mental attributes, which had been at 42, increased to 84, while his mana pool, which had originally stood at 10,000, doubled to 20,000.

And that wasn’t all.

His stamina had doubled as well.

The exhaustion that had gradually built up within his body suddenly became far less troublesome, while the power coursing through him reached an entirely new level. The strain he had been experiencing during the battle eased considerably, allowing him to recover his fighting rhythm without having to push his body to its previous limits.

Orion could feel the difference clearly.

The energy within him seemed more abundant, his physical strength had increased dramatically, and his ability to maintain his fighting pace had improved alongside it. The monsters surrounding him were still numerous, but the pressure they had been putting on him was no longer the same.

His expression settled into its usual calm.

There was no longer any need to struggle the way he had moments ago.

He had leveled up, and with Origin Multiplication activated, even a single increase in level had brought about a tremendous transformation.

A small smile curled at the corner of Orion’s mouth.

"Now, then..."

His rainbow-colored eyes gleamed faintly as he looked toward the remaining monsters.

"Let’s continue."

He reactivated Flash.

Whoosh!

His body shot forward, disappearing from his previous position as he charged into the horde.

He wasn’t moving for any other reason than to bring doom and carnage to the monsters that had come seeking exactly that. The Webfiends had entered the city intending to spread destruction, sow despair in the hearts of humans, and slaughter everyone who stood in their way.

Now, they would experience the very fate they had intended for others.

And Orion had no intention of showing them mercy.

---

Meanwhile, this Orion wasn’t the only one who had received the boost.

His other clones had benefited from the same level increase, and with their speed doubled, the slaughter became even faster. The clones moved through the city like streaks of light, their daggers flashing as they cut down one monster after another.

The Webfiends barely had time to react.

Before one could even register the death of its companion, another would fall beside it. The clones moved so quickly that the monsters often found themselves under attack before they could turn around, leaving them with little opportunity to defend themselves or retaliate.

The cries of dying monsters filled the air, one scream following another as their bodies collapsed and their lives came to an end.

The horde that had rushed toward the city, determined to bring doom, carnage, and despair into the hearts of humanity, was now suffering the very destruction it had intended to inflict.

The situation had completely reversed.

They had come as predators, but now they were the ones being hunted.

One after another, they died in cold blood. Their cries grew more desperate as the battle turned against them, and those that attempted to escape soon discovered that fleeing wasn’t nearly as easy as they had imagined.

But none of it changed the calm gazes of their slaughterers.

The Orions continued their work without hesitation, cutting down the monsters as though they were nothing more than obstacles standing in their way. They showed no signs of panic or excitement, maintaining their composure even as the streets became littered with the bodies of their enemies.

Their movements remained precise, and their expressions stayed composed.

With every Webfiend they killed, their EXP continued to accumulate.

The clones were amassing more and more experience, pushing the real Orion closer and closer to another level-up. Every kill contributed to his progress, and the steady stream of notifications reflected the growing number of monsters falling beneath his daggers.

Eventually, the real Orion arrived at his destination.

The city gate.

---

Orion stood before the massive entrance, his blue dagger held loosely in one hand.

His multicolored eyes shone with a cold, calm light as he stared at the Webfiend horde rushing toward him. The ground shook beneath their frenzied advance, and the sound of countless feet pounding against the earth merged into a deafening rumble.

The monsters surged forward like a monstrous tide threatening to swallow everything in its path.

Their grotesque bodies filled the road, their bloodthirsty growls reverberating through the air as they rushed toward the city. Their eyes remained locked onto a single target, the lone human standing directly in their way.

Orion.

The Webfiends’ gazes gleamed with a cold light as they licked their lips, saliva dripping from their grotesque mouths.

To them, the situation was simple.

There was a human standing alone before their horde, a lone prey that had foolishly placed himself directly in their path.

They would tear him apart.

They would rip his body to pieces, then continue forward and bring destruction to everything that remained behind him.

At least, that was what they believed.

Orion shook his head internally as he watched the approaching monsters, almost feeling pity for them.

Almost.

But did he truly feel pity?

No.

The word almost was the important part.

He had no reason to pity creatures that had come rushing toward the city with the intention of slaughtering innocent people. They had chosen their path, and now they would face the consequences of their actions.

Orion stepped forward.

Unlike his clones, who possessed only 70% of his abilities, skills, and total combat strength, he possessed the entirety of his power.

One hundred percent.

And now that he had reached Level 2, his strength had increased even further.

With Origin State active, his attributes had been multiplied by two, bringing his status to a new level.

Current Status:

Physical Attributes

Strength: 100

Speed: 100

Defense: 100

Stamina: 100

Constitution: 100

Mental Attributes

Intelligence: 120

Perception: 120

Wisdom: 120

Charisma: 120

WILL: Infinite Will {Locked}

That was his current status with Origin State activated.

But it didn’t end there.

The moment Orion gripped the blue dagger, his physical attributes surged once more. The blue blade’s enhancement took effect, pushing his already extraordinary physical stats to an even more ridiculous level.

His strength increased to 150.

His speed increased to 150.

His defense increased to 150.

His stamina increased to 150.

And his constitution increased to 150.

Every single physical attribute had experienced another tremendous boost, further widening the gap between his current strength and what he had possessed before leveling up.

Orion glanced at his insane stats, and a small smile curled at the corner of his mouth.

What an absurd level of power.

And yet, this was still only Level 2.

He hadn’t even begun to explore the full extent of what he could accomplish with the Origin System. If a single level-up could produce such a dramatic change, he couldn’t help wondering how powerful he would become as he continued to grow.

The Webfiends continued charging toward him, their eyes seeing nothing but prey.

But Orion’s gaze was far worse.

Because he didn’t even see them as prey.

To him, they were nothing more than a bundle of EXP waiting to be reaped.

The monsters roared as they rushed forward, their frenzied tide growing closer with every passing second.

Orion continued walking toward them.

One hand rested casually in his pocket, while the other held the blue dagger loosely, its blade reflecting a faint glimmer of light.

He showed no urgency or nervousness, and certainly no fear.

It was as though he were taking a leisurely stroll rather than walking straight toward a horde of monsters capable of overwhelming an entire city’s defenses.

The distance between them continued to shrink.

The ground trembled beneath the advancing Webfiends, their roars grew louder, and their grotesque bodies surged forward with enough force to make the approaching horde seem like an unstoppable tide.

Orion simply kept walking.

Then the two sides finally clashed.

BOOOOOOMMM!!
