Chapter 77

"Wanna have some fun?"

Orion asked with a calm, sincere smile.

If not for the absolute emotional control granted by Origin Mind, he would probably have been grinning from ear to ear by now, unable to contain the excitement bubbling inside him. He had been looking forward to this opportunity ever since discovering the extent of his newfound strength, and now that he finally had opponents to test it against, keeping his excitement under control was becoming a challenge in itself.

He wanted to fight, experience the full extent of his new power, and, most importantly, enjoy himself.

Unfortunately, Origin Mind wouldn’t allow his emotions to run wild. No matter how excited he became, his expression remained calm, his thoughts clear, and his mind perfectly composed. The excitement was still there, burning within him, but the ability ensured that it never interfered with his judgment or caused him to lose control.

The group of Webfiends suddenly came to a halt, their monstrous bodies freezing in place as they stared at the human standing before them.

Something was wrong.

They could feel it.

The human wasn’t releasing an overwhelming killing intent, nor was he making any threatening movements. He simply stood there with a calm smile, holding a pair of daggers as though he were preparing for an ordinary sparring match.

Yet, for some inexplicable reason, the Webfiends felt a tremendous sense of danger radiating from him. Their instincts screamed at them to run, warning them that remaining where they were could cost them their lives.

It was an instinctive warning that none of them could ignore.

Monsters weren’t foolish creatures driven solely by their hatred of humans. Although many possessed an intense bloodlust, that didn’t mean they were incapable of reasoning or recognizing danger. They could think, assess their surroundings, and recognize when an opponent was beyond their ability to handle.

When faced with a threat that could end their lives, even the most bloodthirsty monsters could experience fear.

Right now, every instinct within their bodies was telling them the same thing: the human standing before them was dangerous, extremely dangerous.

However, Orion didn’t seem particularly interested in their hesitation.

"I’ll take your silence as a yes."

His smile remained unchanged as he looked at the monsters, seemingly content with the answer he had decided to give himself.

Then...

Ding!

[Flash Skill Activated!]

The instant Orion activated Flash, everything around him seemed to change.

No, it wasn’t that time had stopped. Rather, everything appeared to slow to an almost unbelievable crawl, allowing him to observe the movements of his opponents with extraordinary clarity.

The Webfiends’ movements became sluggish in his perception. Their twitching limbs, the shifting of their bodies, and even the subtle changes in their expressions became easier to observe, giving him an opportunity to act while his opponents were still struggling to respond.

The world seemed to stretch out before his eyes, granting him a tremendous advantage in the brief interval between his movement and their reactions.

Orion kicked against the ground.

BOOM!

His body shot forward with explosive speed, covering the distance between himself and the nearest Webfiend in an instant.

In the next moment, he appeared directly beside the monster.

His daggers flashed.

A second later, the Webfiend that had been standing tall and alive just moments earlier suddenly lost its right hand.

The severed limb fell through the air, but before the monster could even growl in pain, its other hand slid cleanly off as well.

The Webfiend’s eyes widened in horror as it stared at Orion. Then, its gaze shifted toward its fellow Webfiends, flashing with what almost seemed like pity, as though it wanted to tell them something important.

It was as if the creature had just discovered the horrifying truth about the human standing before them and desperately wanted to warn the others before they suffered the same fate.

Unfortunately, it was already too late.

A thin red line appeared down the middle of its body, extending from the upper portion of its torso to the bottom.

For a brief moment, nothing happened, and the monster remained standing as though it hadn’t yet realized what had been done to it.

Then its body split apart.

The two halves separated and fell sideways, revealing Orion standing on the other side with his daggers still in hand. He had already completed his attack and moved beyond the creature before its body even began to fall.

The entire exchange had happened so quickly that the remaining Webfiends could barely comprehend what they had witnessed.

One moment, their companion had been alive and standing among them. The next, it had been reduced to several pieces, its body falling apart before any of them could even react.

Orion glanced at his daggers, his expression remaining strangely calm. There was something almost like shock in his eyes, although, considering how composed he looked, anyone observing him might have mistaken that reaction for mild curiosity.

Orion was indeed shocked.

Not because he had killed the Webfiend, but because of just how powerful his Flash skill was.

The increase in speed was ridiculous!

The moment he activated it, his movements became so fast that his opponent barely had any opportunity to react. He had crossed the distance between them, delivered several precise strikes, and moved past the monster before it could even understand what was happening.

And that wasn’t even the only thing that astonished him.

His attention shifted toward the two daggers in his hands.

These weapons...

They were insanely sharp!

Orion had never intended to kill the Webfiend with that first strike. His original plan had been to leave a few deep gashes on its body, perhaps testing how effectively the daggers could penetrate the monster’s defenses and how much force he would need to apply.

Instead, the blades had sliced through the creature with almost absurd ease.

He hadn’t even needed to exert himself particularly hard. The sharpness of the daggers had done most of the work, and a mere adjustment in the direction of his strikes had been enough to sever the Webfiend’s limbs and split its body apart.

Just how sharp are these things?

Orion couldn’t help feeling astonished.

He had known that the Tri Divinity Dagger was a Divine Relic, but knowing something was powerful and actually experiencing its power were two entirely different things. The daggers were far more dangerous than he had initially imagined, and their sharpness alone was enough to make him reconsider how much destructive power he could unleash with them.

Still, Orion quickly recovered from his brief surprise.

The remaining Webfiends were already reacting. Their gazes had changed, and their bodies were tensing as they prepared to attack, no longer treating the human before them as an ordinary piece of prey.

Orion’s smile remained calm.

Instead of immediately charging toward them, he decided to examine his opponents properly. After all, he had come here to test his new powers, and there was no reason to rush through the process without first understanding what he was dealing with.

His rainbow-colored eyes swept across the monsters.

[Analysis Initiated.]

[Name: Webfiend]

[Level: 10]

[Physical Attributes: 40]

[Mental Attributes: 20]

His gaze shifted to another.

[Name: Webfiend]

[Level: 11]

[Physical Attributes: 45]

[Mental Attributes: 22]

Then another.

[Name: Webfiend]

[Level: 11]

[Physical Attributes: 44]

[Mental Attributes: 20]

Orion continued scanning the remaining Webfiends one after another, examining their information as it appeared before his eyes.

However, the more monsters he analyzed, the less impressed he became. The excitement in his gaze gradually dimmed as he compared their attributes with his own, and before long, a single word crossed his mind.

Weak.

They were so weak.

One had to understand that Orion’s physical attributes were already in the eighties when he wielded the daggers, thanks to the boost provided by the blue blade. His physical strength alone was far beyond what these Webfiends could match, giving him a considerable advantage even before he took his other abilities into account.

And that wasn’t even considering his other advantages.

He was currently in his Origin State, and with Origin Multiplication, his attributes were being multiplied according to his level. Meanwhile, Origin Mind allowed him to utilize his abilities and physical capabilities with extraordinary efficiency, ensuring that he could make the most of the strength available to him.

He wasn’t wasting his movements or making unnecessary decisions. Every action he took was executed with remarkable precision, allowing him to use his attributes to their fullest potential rather than relying on raw strength alone.

When that efficiency was combined with the physical boost provided by the daggers, Orion’s effective combat strength could be several times greater than that of his opponents.

Then there was Origin Eyes.

His enhanced perception allowed him to analyze the movements and fighting styles of his enemies, while Flash gave him an overwhelming advantage in speed. With one ability helping him understand his opponents and the other allowing him to move faster than they could react, Orion possessed a combination that made it extremely difficult for weaker enemies to threaten him.

When all those abilities were combined, the difference between Orion and the Webfiends became almost absurd.

This wasn’t a battle.

It was rapidly becoming a massacre.

Orion shook his head slightly.

They’re too weak.

He had wanted to test his new powers against powerful opponents, but these monsters weren’t providing nearly enough of a challenge. Although their numbers were considerable, their individual strength was simply too low to give him the kind of fight he had been hoping for.

The remaining Webfiends finally lost their patience.

With enraged growls, they lunged toward him simultaneously, their bladed limbs tearing through the air as they attacked from multiple directions. They were attempting to overwhelm him through sheer numbers, hoping that attacking together would give them an opportunity to bring down the human who had just killed their companion.

Orion watched them approach.

He didn’t even bother activating Flash again. Doing so would only make the fight even more boring, and besides, he wanted to see how well he could handle them without relying too heavily on his skills.

He had to admit that his expectations for this battle had been a little too high. He had imagined that fighting the monsters released by a dungeon break would provide a more satisfying test of his abilities, but the Webfiends before him were proving to be far less challenging than he had anticipated.

Still, there was no reason to waste a perfectly good opportunity to test his combat abilities.

The first Webfiend attacked.
