Origin Summoner: All My Summons Are Broken
Chapter 79: Webfiends (2)
Chapter 76
However, the sheer number of enemies gradually began to wear the warriors down. Their movements slowed, their breathing grew heavier, and their defensive formations became increasingly disorganized. One by one, cracks began appearing in their line as they struggled to keep the advancing Webfiends at bay.
A warrior stumbled backward after blocking a powerful strike, while another was forced to retreat when two Webfiends attacked him simultaneously. A third managed to kill his opponent, only to discover that three more monsters had already taken its place, leaving him with barely enough time to catch his breath before he was forced to fight again.
There was no end to them. No matter how many Webfiends the warriors killed, more continued pouring out of the rift, relentlessly adding to the pressure bearing down on their already struggling defensive line.
Eventually, the formation began to collapse. One section broke, then another, and before long, the warriors found themselves struggling simply to survive.
The Webfiends began slipping past them, their monstrous bodies rushing toward the city. The moment they caught the scent of humans, their already savage expressions twisted into something even more horrifying. Their nostrils flared, and their eyes gleamed with bloodlust as the smell of human flesh seemed to drive them into a frenzy, awakening an insatiable hunger and an overwhelming urge to destroy everything in their path.
They surged forward with maddening aggression, their numerous limbs carrying them rapidly toward Daylight City.
The warriors’ faces fell as they watched the monsters rush past their defensive line. They wanted to stop them, of course they did, but they couldn’t do so without risking their own lives when they were still struggling to survive.
The Webfiends hadn’t even fully concentrated their attacks on the twenty or so warriors, yet the pressure was already overwhelming. If the monsters had directed all their attacks toward the defensive line, the entire group might already have been wiped out.
With no way to stop them, the warriors could only watch helplessly as the creatures slipped through the gaps in their defense and charged toward Daylight City. Their hearts sank as the reality of their failure settled in. They had been unable to hold the line, and now the people inside the city were in danger.
However, before anyone could even begin to process the situation, the rift shook once more.
A violent tremor rippled through the enormous opening, making the surrounding ground shudder as the darkness within it churned. Then, even more Webfiends began rushing out, their grotesque bodies crowding the area around the rift and adding to the already overwhelming swarm.
The faces of every warrior turned pale.
Even Katherine, who was still battling the two strongest monsters, couldn’t help reacting when she sensed the sudden increase in enemy numbers. For a brief moment, her gaze flickered toward the rift, and the sight awaiting her only made her expression grimmer.
This is definitely not good.
The situation was deteriorating far faster than she had anticipated. She was already struggling to deal with two Level 16 B-Grade Webfiends, and the growing horde was steadily overwhelming the remaining warriors. With even more monsters pouring into the city, the situation was slipping beyond their control.
And if things continued this way, the consequences would be catastrophic.
...
Several minutes later, Orion stood atop one of the tallest buildings in the city.
Behind him, several humans were rushing toward the city lord’s bunker, desperately trying to reach safety before the dungeon break caused even more destruction. Their hurried footsteps echoed through the streets, accompanied by panicked shouts and the distant sounds of chaos as the city’s inhabitants scrambled to escape the approaching monsters.
However, Orion paid them little attention. His gaze remained fixed on the scene before him, where countless monsters were entering the city and spreading through its streets.
Their grotesque bodies moved between the buildings, their bladed limbs scraping against the ground as they advanced. Their deformed heads twisted from side to side, searching for anything that could satisfy their bloodlust, and the sight of their monstrous forms was enough to make ordinary people recoil in horror.
Anyone unfortunate enough to come face-to-face with such creatures would likely be overwhelmed by terror, and with good reason. The Webfiends looked like something straight out of a nightmare, with their scaled bodies, spider-like lower halves, and sharp limbs making them appear almost unreal, as though they had crawled out of the darkest depths of some twisted world.
Yet, instead of feeling appalled or terrified, Orion’s gaze shone with brilliant light as he watched the monsters spreading throughout the city.
This should be fun.
A playful smile appeared on his face, and then, slowly, his black hair began to change. The dark strands gradually turned white, their color transforming until every trace of black disappeared. Within a few moments, his hair had become pure snowy white, giving him an appearance completely different from the one he had possessed only moments earlier.
At the same time, the clothes he wore began to change. The transformation spread across the fabric, turning every part of his outfit white, from the collar of his shirt to the smallest button, from his sleeves to his trousers, and even down to his shoes.
Everything became white, not a single detail spared as the power of his Origin State awakened and transformed his entire appearance.
Then came his eyes.
The grey color vanished, replaced by a magnificent array of multicolored hues. His eyes became rainbow-colored, glowing with a majestic radiance that carried an indescribable sense of authority.
As the transformation settled, Orion’s face gradually relaxed. The excited smile that had previously adorned his lips faded into something much calmer, becoming a gentle, warm smile that reflected none of the restless excitement that had filled him moments earlier.
His expression was peaceful, almost serene, yet beneath that calmness, something far more profound seemed to stir.
Orion looked down at the monsters below, his rainbow-colored eyes reflecting their grotesque figures without the slightest hint of fear or disgust. To him, they were simply targets, opponents he could use to test himself against and, perhaps if he was lucky, a source of EXP.
He slowly raised his hand, and two pairs of daggers appeared in his grasp.
One pair was red, while the other was blue.
The red daggers radiated a faint, fiery glow, their blades shimmering with a heat that seemed to linger just beneath the surface. The blue daggers, by contrast, appeared calm and composed, yet within that stillness lay an unwavering might, a profound power that seemed to flow silently through their blades.
The Tri Divinity Dagger.
Two of its three elemental blades now rested in Orion’s hands.
He examined them briefly, his expression remaining peaceful, before stepping off the edge of the building.
His body began to descend, but rather than plunging toward the ground with the force of a falling object, Orion descended gently, as though the wind itself had taken notice of him and decided to ease his landing. His movements remained smooth and controlled, with the air seeming to cushion his fall and gradually reduce his descent until his feet finally touched the ground.
He landed calmly.
Not far from him stood several Webfiends, and the monsters immediately turned their attention toward the newcomer. Their grotesque faces twisted in his direction as their numerous limbs shifted, preparing to attack. The bladed ends of their limbs scraped against the earth, leaving deep marks in the ground as they began advancing toward him.
Step by step, they drew closer.
Their movements were slow at first, but the bloodlust burning in their eyes grew more intense with every passing second. They stared at Orion, seeing nothing more than a human standing within their reach.
To them, he was prey, something to kill and devour, something that had foolishly wandered into their territory without understanding the danger surrounding it.
Their monstrous eyes gleamed with maddening hunger as they moved closer, their bladed limbs raised and ready to strike.
However, strangely enough, that was precisely what Orion felt when he looked at them.
Prey.
In fact, to him, they might have been something even lesser than that.
His rainbow-colored eyes settled on one of the approaching Webfiends, and the moment their gazes met, an involuntary shiver ran through the monster’s body.
It couldn’t explain why.
There was nothing particularly threatening about the human standing before it. He wasn’t roaring, releasing an overwhelming killing intent, or even assuming a battle stance. He simply stood there, wearing a calm and sincere smile as though he had encountered a group of harmless creatures rather than a pack of bloodthirsty monsters.
And yet, something about those rainbow-colored eyes made the Webfiend’s instincts scream.
Danger.
An instinctive warning rose from deep within its body, urging it to stay away from the human before it. For the first time since emerging from the dungeon, the monster hesitated, its advance slowing despite the hunger driving it forward.
But Orion didn’t seem to notice its reaction.
Or perhaps he simply didn’t care.
He tilted his head slightly, his smile remaining warm and composed as he looked at the approaching creatures. Then, in a calm voice that seemed almost friendly, he asked,
"Wanna have some fun?"
