Origin Summoner: All My Summons Are Broken
Chapter 77: Finally!!!! I Can Test My Powers.
Chapter 74
The swirling gateway suddenly began to change.
The red number above it blinked faster and faster, each flash coming more rapidly than the last. Then, without warning, it disappeared, and at the same moment, the chaotic green gateway collapsed inward.
Katherine’s pupils contracted.
"Brace yourselves!"
BOOOOM!
A massive implosion erupted from the dungeon entrance, violently sucking in the surrounding air before an enormous shock wave burst outward. A powerful gust swept across the area, forcing Katherine to take a step or two backward under the sheer pressure.
Her hair and clothes whipped violently in the turbulent air, but she quickly steadied herself and focused on what had appeared in the wake of the implosion.
A rift.
Dark as the abyss.
It hung in the air where the dungeon gateway had once stood, its enormous opening resembling a wound carved directly into the fabric of reality. The sight was terrifying, bringing to mind a sword wielded by some titanic god, a colossal blade that had cleaved through the boundaries of existence itself.
Its sheer size was overwhelming, and the darkness within it appeared to stretch into an unfathomable distance.
For a brief moment, nobody moved. The warriors stood frozen, staring at the enormous rift before them, and even those who had experienced dangerous dungeon encounters couldn’t help feeling a chill creep down their spines.
This was no ordinary dungeon break.
Something about the scene felt wrong, terribly wrong.
Katherine narrowed her eyes when she noticed movement on the other side of the rift. Something was coming out, and she had no intention of allowing it to catch her unprepared.
Her expression hardened as she swiftly unsheathed her sword and stepped forward, positioning herself at the front of the defensive formation. The blade gleamed in her hand as she faced the rift.
"Listen up," she said calmly, her voice carrying clearly to every warrior behind her. "I will make sure that most of them die by my hand."
Her emerald eyes burned with determination as she continued.
"That said, anyone who manages to get past me will be your responsibility. Make sure you take them down."
The warriors immediately tightened their grips on their weapons, understanding that this wasn’t a situation they could afford to underestimate.
Katherine’s green eyes brimmed with power as green flames suddenly erupted around her body. At the same time, raging winds began swirling through the flames, feeding their intensity and causing them to dance wildly through the air.
The two elements intertwined, forming a powerful display of elemental control. Wind and fire moved in perfect synchronization, responding to her will as though they were extensions of her own body.
Katherine raised her sword, and the green flames gathered around its blade while the raging winds twisted along its length. Their combined presence caused the surrounding air to tremble as she prepared to attack the moment the first monster emerged.
However, she suddenly paused.
The figure on the other side of the rift had finally stepped out completely, and the instant its presence became fully apparent, a powerful aura slammed down upon the entire area.
BOOM!
The atmosphere seemed to grow heavier under the pressure.
Katherine’s pupils shrank to pinholes as the danger warnings from her senses flashed violently. For the first time since arriving at the scene, she felt something that made her instincts scream at her to be careful.
Her grip on the sword tightened as a realization slowly took shape in her mind.
Strangely enough, it was the very same thought that had crossed her mind when she first heard that a dungeon break was about to occur.
This is trouble.
...
Meanwhile, Daylight City had already erupted into panic.
The announcement of an impending dungeon break spread rapidly throughout the city, sending people rushing toward the massive bunker where the city’s awakened warriors and other important personnel could gather for protection.
The streets became chaotic as people hurried toward safety. Some ran while clutching their belongings, while others dragged their family members along, urging them to move faster.
Nobody wanted to be caught outside when the calamity arrived.
The city lord’s bunker was one of the safest places available during such emergencies, and anyone who could reach it in time would have a much better chance of surviving. Those who failed to make it there, however, might not be so fortunate.
A dungeon break could turn an ordinary day into a nightmare within minutes. Throughout the history of the awakened, such incidents had remained among the deadliest and most frequent calamities.
Nobody knew exactly how much destruction this particular dungeon break would cause, but nobody wanted to find out the hard way.
...
"Sir Orion, you have to hurry to the city lord’s bunker!"
Inside the hospital, a nurse stood near Orion’s bed, speaking with obvious urgency.
"I heard there’s a dungeon break nearby! You need to get there quickly!"
Orion nodded.
"All right."
The nurse gave him one last look before hurrying out of the room. However, as she walked away, her expression gradually changed, and she glanced back toward the door as though she could somehow see Orion through it.
A frown settled on her face.
I think Nurse Iryn might not have been entirely wrong...
Of course, she didn’t mean that Orion was literally a devil, as Iryn had claimed. That was ridiculous, but the young man was definitely not normal.
Because, seriously, how could someone remain so calm after hearing that his life might soon be in danger?
Most people would have panicked. Some might have immediately started asking questions, while others would have rushed to find a way out of the hospital.
But Orion had simply nodded, almost as though the nurse had informed him that it was going to rain.
What a weirdo.
The nurse shook her head. She had already warned him, and if he wanted to run, he could run. If he wanted to stay, then he could stay.
Either way, it was his life and his decision.
She wasn’t going to waste any more time worrying about a strange patient when there was a potential disaster unfolding outside. With that thought, she hurried away, determined to reach safety before it was too late.
...
Meanwhile, back inside Orion’s hospital room, the young man slowly raised his hand and stared at it.
His fingers were trembling, but it wasn’t because he was afraid.
Not even remotely.
His hands were shaking for an entirely different reason: sheer excitement.
His heart pounded wildly inside his chest, and the corners of his lips gradually curled upward into an increasingly excited smile. He wasn’t merely happy; he was thrilled beyond words!
A dungeon break, a real battle, and potentially powerful enemies waiting outside!
What more could he ask for?
After spending so much time confined to the hospital, studying his newly acquired abilities and trying to understand the absurd changes brought about by his Reawakening, he was finally being presented with an opportunity to put everything to the test.
He could finally see how powerful he had become.
He could finally test his Flash skill against real opponents and discover how much force his Telekinesis could exert in actual combat. Most importantly, he could finally experience the might of his Origin State against powerful monsters.
Orion’s smile widened as his fingers curled slightly, his excitement continuing to build.
He had no idea what was waiting outside. He didn’t know what kind of monsters had emerged from the dungeon, nor did he know just how dangerous the situation had become.
But one thing was certain.
He was no longer the same person who had entered Dungeon X, and now, he finally had the chance to prove it.
Orion’s lips curled into an excited grin.
"Finally..."
His eyes gleamed with anticipation as he voiced the thought that had been building inside him.
"I can test out my new powers!"
