Chapter 101

The Webfiend Lord attacked with overwhelming strength, its purple aura surging with every movement. The force behind its strikes was immense, and even when Orion managed to block them, the resulting shockwaves tore through the surrounding ground, leaving cracks across the already battered battlefield.

Yet Orion continued meeting the monster head-on.

His combat skills, which had long been unable to display their full potential because of how weak he had once been, were finally beginning to shine.

Before his reawakening, his fighting ability had been constrained by his physical limitations. No matter how good his instincts were or how well he understood a technique, his body simply couldn’t keep up with the demands of a truly high-level battle. He might have understood how to execute a move perfectly, but without the physical attributes to support it, his knowledge alone wasn’t enough.

That limitation no longer existed.

His body had changed, and his attributes had risen to an abnormal level. He could finally bring his combat skills to the forefront without being held back by an inadequate physical foundation, allowing him to execute techniques that his former self could only have dreamed of performing.

However, that was only part of the improvement.

There was something else, something far more important.

His fighting ability was being continuously elevated and refined through the combined effects of Origin Eyes and Origin Mind.

Origin Eyes allowed him to observe and analyze the flow of his opponent’s movements with extraordinary precision. Every shift in posture, adjustment of the wrist, and subtle change in the monster’s centre of gravity became valuable information he could use to his advantage.

Origin Mind processed that information with astonishing efficiency, allowing him to understand what he observed and respond without wasting precious time.

His thoughts remained clear, his concentration never wavered, and his body responded to the information he gathered with almost perfect coordination.

Together, the two abilities formed an extraordinary combination that continuously improved his performance throughout the battle.

Orion’s movements became increasingly flawless.

He wove attacks into defense, defense into evasion, and evasion into counterattacks. Every action flowed naturally into the next, creating a seamless rhythm that allowed him to respond to the Webfiend Lord’s relentless assault without wasting the slightest amount of effort.

When the monster’s scythe descended toward his shoulder, Orion shifted just enough to let the blade pass. When its dagger thrust toward his chest, he redirected it with his blue dagger before using the opening to attack its exposed side.

Even when the Webfiend Lord attempted to exploit his movements with a second strike, Orion had already adjusted his position, turning what should have been a dangerous opening into an opportunity to counterattack.

His rainbow-coloured eyes remained calm throughout the exchange, neither wavering nor showing any sign of strain as the battle continued.

He was fighting the Webfiend Lord on equal terms.

And the monster was beginning to realize just how absurd that was.

After all, the Webfiend Lord was no longer an inexperienced fighter.

Its combat skills seemed to have evolved alongside its body. The transformation into Grade S had not merely increased its attributes; it had also refined its movements, improved its coordination, and elevated its understanding of combat to a terrifying level.

Its attacks had become more sophisticated, and its transitions between weapons were smoother. Its feints were harder to distinguish from genuine attacks, while its movements had become increasingly difficult to predict.

The monster was learning as it fought, and every exchange made it more dangerous.

Its scythe would force Orion to defend from one direction, only for a webstring blade to emerge from another angle. A dagger thrust would turn into a sweeping strike, while an attack that appeared straightforward would conceal a second, more vicious movement.

The Webfiend Lord was no longer relying solely on overwhelming strength. It was using skill, adaptability, and its extraordinary control over webstrings to pressure Orion from every direction, making full use of its evolved combat capabilities.

For the first time, the battle had become genuinely difficult for Origin Eyes to read.

However, the word difficult was important here.

Yes, the monster’s movements were harder to analyze, and its combat ability had reached a level that demanded more effort from Orion. But difficult didn’t mean impossible.

If Orion’s estimation was correct, he would need approximately an hour to completely decipher the Webfiend Lord’s new fighting capabilities and understand the full extent of its combat patterns.

An hour of continuous observation, analyzing its attacks, identifying its habits, and understanding how it combined its weapons with its webstrings.

Once that process was complete, the battle would be all but won.

After all, once Orion understood an opponent’s fighting style, every movement that opponent made became another piece of information he could use against them.

The Webfiend Lord would no longer be unpredictable. Its attacks would become easier to read, its openings would become clearer, and its greatest advantage would gradually disappear.

But for now, Orion had no intention of rushing toward that conclusion.

He wanted to fight.

He wanted to experience the pressure of facing an opponent who could force him to remain alert and respond to every movement with genuine precision. He wanted to feel the thrill of a battle where he couldn’t simply overwhelm his opponent without thinking, where every exchange demanded his attention and every mistake carried consequences.

So, for the time being, he continued meeting the Webfiend Lord head-on, blocking, dodging, countering, and attacking as their increasingly intense battle unfolded.

And he continued to enjoy every second of it.

---

I’m stronger.

The Webfiend Lord’s thoughts grew increasingly frantic.

I’m faster.

Its scythe swept toward Orion’s neck, but he leaned backward, allowing the blade to pass just above his face before immediately countering with a thrust toward the monster’s chest.

The Webfiend Lord twisted aside and intercepted the attack.

CLANG!

Their weapons collided again.

So why...?

The monster’s eyes widened slightly as it forced Orion’s dagger away.

Why can’t I end him?

The question was becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.

It had already activated its newly acquired ability, multiplying its strength by three, and the purple aura covering its body continued reinforcing its attacks. By every reasonable measure, it should have overwhelmed Orion long ago.

Yet the battle continued.

One exchange became ten, ten became dozens, and dozens eventually became hundreds.

The longer the fight dragged on, the heavier the sense of foreboding in the Webfiend Lord’s heart became. Something was wrong, and although it couldn’t explain the feeling, every instinct within its body warned that something terrible would happen if it failed to defeat Orion quickly.

The monster gritted its teeth and increased the speed of its attacks.

Its scythe became a blur as it launched a series of vicious strikes, each aimed at a vital point. The purple aura surrounding the blade intensified, and the force behind every swing became strong enough to shatter the ground if it missed its target.

Orion continued evading and deflecting the attacks with practiced precision.

The Webfiend Lord attacked from above, and Orion blocked. The monster twisted and swept its scythe toward his legs, but Orion lifted himself with telekinesis, allowing the blade to pass beneath his feet before descending with a dagger strike.

The Webfiend Lord parried the attack.

Their weapons collided, and both figures were thrown apart by the resulting shockwave. However, neither remained still for more than an instant before accelerating toward each other again.

BOOM!

The ground beneath their feet shattered.

The two figures crossed the battlefield at speeds that would have been incomprehensible to an ordinary human. To anyone watching from a distance, they would have appeared as little more than blurs, their bodies flickering in and out of sight as they clashed.

Even the most powerful Basic-Level warriors would have struggled to follow the flow of the battle.

They might have caught flashes of purple, red, blue, and white, heard the deafening collisions of weapons, or felt the shockwaves sweeping through the air, but they would have been unable to understand what was actually happening.

The battle was taking place at a level far beyond their ability to comprehend.

Every time the two fighters crossed a stretch of ground, the earth was ripped apart beneath their feet. Cracks spread across the battlefield, splitting the soil into jagged fragments as the force of their movements battered the surrounding landscape.

The sky screamed beneath the pressure of their movements, while the air was torn apart by the force of their attacks, producing violent currents that swept dust and debris across the ruined battlefield.

Even the ground continued shaking beneath every collision, unable to withstand the destructive force unleashed by the two combatants.

BOOOOM!
