264 Let Me Come Then
In the City Arena, rules were about to be set.
Even when the other contenders were not there yet, which seemed like they were also strict with time. At least Yang Lujia could see that. Moreover, the sense of superiority of those people sitting above the platform… he could feel it.
As someone who also liked such superiority, he was somewhat irritated by their appearance. Even more so when he saw the archpriest and his subordinate priests behind him. There were also these other clans, the Du Clan, the Hao Clan, and the Fu Clan, who also had the same demeanor.
But Yang Lujia decided to ignore them.
Especially now that they were paying attention to him.
At least, so far, his plan was progressing smoothly.
“Good day, everyone! I am the current City Mayor of this Sacred City! After a decade, the Adventurers’ Association asked for my assistance in hosting another event for them to accept another batch of qualified adventurers,” the tall man said with poise as he glanced at the archpriests and the others who were all behind him in the platform as he continued to speak.
“I would like to acknowledge the presence of all the distinguished figures on this platform. I just hope that all of you, contenders, will give us a good fight to watch. Regardless, the rules of the fight are just simple.”
Every contender, including Yang Lujia, looked at the City Mayor. Yang Lujia, however, wore those indifferent eyes. While his companions from the side, Cai Hong and the others, were silently cheering for him. Only Yin Hang was shouting his heart out for his big brother.
“Big Brother! You have to win this battle! Big Sister Cao Xing said that she will give you a treat this evening! She said it would be very good! I’m also looking forward to witnessing it!” Yin Hang innocently shouted at the top of his lungs.
Everyone, including those surrounding the group, was stunned. They then turned their heads to look at who this was referring to. After looking at the blushing Cao Xing, everyone felt aroused and even had the idea of pouncing on her. Meanwhile, Brownie, who heard the cry of that kid, Yin Hang, was speechless.
When Yang Lujia heard this, he was still indifferent and did not say anything. Regardless, these things would not affect him anymore. Unless it was something major, he would not give a damn reaction.
Cai Hong and the others were relieved when they realized that Yang Lujia did not even give a fuck. Yang Lujia was just waiting for the rest of the rules to be discussed with them. Despite the nonchalance on his face, there was still anticipation emanating from his eyes.
On the other hand, the families who were viciously looking at him without any restraint over their raging emotions were feeling apprehensive of this young man who did not even bat an eye on them. Yang Lujia looked at them momentarily and did not show any restlessness in his eyes. Only insouciance.
“Is that really the kid that killed the two young masters?” the archpriest asked, his face still indifferent to the matters of the world. However, his question seemed to have sparked an interest in him over Yang Lujia, especially the latter’s countenance despite the two families’ oppressive actions.
“Yes,” Lao Han, the only high-level Quasi-Holy Son of this Sacred City, answered.
But his voice did not tremble. However, in his heart, he slightly panicked, especially when Yang Lujia spared him a glance for a second. He knew that this was the same expert he encountered that day. Just from that face, he could tell that this man was no weaker than his master, the archpriest!
“He seems interesting,” the archpriest merely replied and closed his eyes to meditate on the spot.
Lao Han looked at Yang Lujia amidst the crowd once more. A complicated expression on his face was formed. This guy was so young but he already had the capital to boast by killing those two young masters without showing any concern at all.
It had to be known that Lao Han was placed 75th in the Top 100 Geniuses of the four regions. Nobody would look down on him just because he was placed at 75th. Even the geniuses at the bottom of the ranking were very strong that he could even feel apprehension towards them. As he thought of these things, the face of Yang Lujia surfaced in his mind.
What if this person was one of those people whom he had dreaded for a very long time?
Just this thought scared him shitless.
Among the Top 100 Geniuses, there were ten who were classified as the Top 10 Hidden Dragons. These ten were very strong in overall prowess that they would not even bat an eyelid when facing someone like Lao Han. In fact, in the past, he was defeated by the Top 10 with just a gaze that made him feel endless trepidation.
Directly, during that faceoff, he was quickly defeated.
Those ten were the strongest and it had already been several years since he had seen them. No one knew of them, even him. Only a few people knew them and some had speculations about their identities. During that tournament once, these Top 10’s positions or ranks were already stable. In that tournament, they were given the chance to challenge these people, but they were quickly defeated and these people remained in their positions without any surprise.
He had not even had the time to ask for that man’s name, the one in the 10th place whom he challenged.
Looking at Yang Lujia, he could only imagine him as one of those people.
Otherwise, who would have such combat power at such a young age?
Merely, it had only been a century ago since that tournament happened. Thinking about it now, it seemed like another tournament would be held sooner or later.
“The general rule of how this situation will fold is you just have to step into the circular platform below and remain on the platform until you won consecutively for 10 brawls!” the City Mayor continued. “However, there will be accidents that would happen incidentally. Therefore, death is not out of the question. If you feel like your strength isn’t enough, you can now back out and lend your temporary identification cards back to those stationed at your back!
“Moreover, once you defeated your opponent or your opponent admitted defeat while or before the fight even started, you will be deprived of the right to kill the other party. Otherwise, your registration as an adventurer in the association will be revoked.
“In addition to that, we only need 10 consecutive wins from you but that is just the minimum number. You can fight up until you don’t have the energy to fight anymore! Moreover, once you are defeated, you will automatically be disqualified!”
When these rules were presented to the crowd, Yang Lujia immediately understood the situation. It seemed like the two families paid a price just to bring him to death. Looking at the City Mayor and the figures in the Adventurers’ Association, they wore indifferent faces—but that did not mean they did not give a hand on this matter.
Shifting his gaze to the families, he just smiled and ignored their gloating faces.
When the two families saw this, they were filled with indignation. They thought that the young man would feel fear the moment they made this move, but they witnessed something they didn’t want to see.
No matter what, Yang Lujia was only one person. He wouldn’t be able to defeat those aspiring adventurers who were said to be the cream of the crop!
As soon as the City Mayor said the word, the crowd of adventurers went silent. No one dared to go on the platform to start a fight. While the others did not dare to, others were itching among them. Meanwhile, Yang Lujia was just watching them. Whoever went first would be at a disadvantage.
The earlier you go on stage, the more possibility you will encounter strong opponents. With Yang Lujia’s mental power, he could roughly guess the number of very strong cultivators. Some were eyeing him. That, however, wasn’t surprising to him.
It seemed like the two families really paid a heavy price just for revenge.
“If there’s no one stepping on the stage, then let me come,” Yang Lujia said, his voice monotonous. It did not contain any shade of emotion.
It was like this bit of matter would not do anything to him at all. And this wasn’t without truth. Looking at the skies, he thought of several things.
