Chapter 80: Chapter 80: Players’ Drops, Meeting With the Group Again
“Wow…”
Leon couldn’t help but let the word slip out as he stared at the contents of his [Storage Space].
Item after item floated on the panel before his eyes, loot taken directly from the players he had just killed.
For a brief moment, he felt a flicker of anticipation. Then it died instantly.
“These items are so…” he muttered as he scrolled through them one by one, his expression growing flatter with each second, “…TRASH.”
A [Wild Dagger], [Rusty Armor], [Speed Necklace] and some.
That was it. That was the best they had.
Leon stared at the list again, just to be sure he wasn’t missing something hidden behind the panels.
But no matter how many times he checked, the result was the same. Useless weapons. Low-tier equipment.
In this place, they wouldn’t even sell for a decent price.
Either those players had been severely under-equipped from the start, or Leon had simply failed to obtain their better items. It could have been either one.
But honestly, it didn’t matter. He hadn’t expected much to begin with.
Compared to him, someone who could acquire massive amounts of equipment and sub-talents almost effortlessly, it was only natural that most other players struggled to get what they wanted.
That was the reality of [Eternal Ascension]. Most players didn’t have broken talents.
They didn’t have absurd luck. They didn’t have past-life knowledge.
That was why so many eventually gave up on farming specific drops and turned to the [Trading House] instead.
As long as you had enough Eternal Coins, you could buy power directly without grinding endlessly for a single piece of equipment.
The idea of “grinding” for a specific item felt almost foreign to Leon now.
With a small shake of his head, Leon discarded most of the items taken from the player killers.
They vanished one after another, dissolved by the system.
He kept only one thing: the [Speed Necklace].
“That one at least has some use,” he muttered.
Emilia could benefit from the agility boost.
After that, Leon glanced back toward the valley. The bodies of the fifteen player killers lay scattered across the ground, lifeless and silent.
For just a second, a faint smile tugged at the corner of his lips.
Then—
Fwoosh!
Leon turned and rushed back toward Emilia at full speed.
“Did you deal with them?” Emilia asked the moment he arrived, her eyes sparkling with excitement. “I wish I could kick some bad guys’ butts too… maybe even those elves that betrayed me!”
Leon chuckled softly.
“That does make me think,” he said, rubbing his chin. “What if we go so fast we miss them entirely? That’d be bad for your revenge, right?”
Emilia shrugged casually. “I think they’re still ahead. And even if we don’t meet them in the [Lower Domain], the [Higher Domain] is going to be way more chaotic anyway.”
Leon didn’t answer immediately. She wasn’t wrong.
The [Higher Domains] were on an entirely different level compared to the [Lower Domains]. Stronger monsters. Deadlier players. Real factions. Real conflicts.
Everything changed there.
Still…
“I guess that’s fine,” Leon said with a grin. He pulled out the [Speed Necklace] and handed it to her. “Here. This boosts agility by 100.”
Emilia’s eyes widened. “Seriously? That’s amazing!”
“Now let’s head to [Hub City],” Leon said.
They didn’t waste any more time.
A few minutes later, the massive gates of [Hub City] came into view once more.
“Feels like it’s been weeks,” Emilia said with a grin. “But… less than a day, right? It feels longer since we don’t need to rest.”
Leon nodded slightly.
Many players in [Eternal Ascension] still chose to sleep for several hours a day, even though it wasn’t necessary. There was no real benefit to it. No stat recovery. No buffs.
But people still did it. They said it felt good. Leon understood that feeling.
In his past life, he had done the same. Even knowing it was useless, sleep still felt comforting. Familiar.
And then—
“The man himself is here!” David shouted excitedly.
“W-Where?” Alice asked nervously, looking around.
“Feels like it’s been forever!” Aaron laughed.
“It’s been less than a day,” Eleonore sighed, rubbing her temples.
They all stood near the gate, lively and full of energy.
Leon found himself smiling without realizing it.
He hadn’t known them well in his past life. They had joined forces briefly, but once they reached the [Higher Domain], they eventually went their separate ways.
That was how things usually went. Once players reached that stage, everything changed.
Leon didn’t intend to force anything this time either. They were all strong enough to carve their own futures.
With his help, they could go much further than before.
“Alright,” Leon said as he stepped toward them. “I’ve got some things for each of you.”
As he began checking his [Storage Space], Emilia walked over and met the group for the first time.
“Hello,” the elf girl said, bowing lightly. “I accompany Leon as his support. I can also fight.”
“W-Wow…” Alice’s eyes lit up. “An actual elf who doesn’t look at us with disgust!”
“I’m shocked too,” Eleonore admitted. “Based on her aura… she’s definitely strong.”
“Mostly thanks to Leon,” Emilia said with a shrug. “Without him, I’d be much weaker. But I’m sure you’ll all get there eventually.”
“Does that mean I can become that strong if I stick with brother Leon?” David asked eagerly. “That sounds great!”
“No,” Leon said flatly. “I’m not looking for more teammates. At least not for now.”
“Aw…”
They laughed it off, and the conversation continued naturally. There was no tension, no hostility. Just genuine curiosity and excitement.
After about a minute, Leon finally spoke again.
“Here we go.”
One by one, items flew out of his [Storage Space], each landing perfectly in front of its new owner.
He had chosen carefully, making sure to not give him something hey couldn’t use immediately.
Alice received the [Blood Scepter (Legendary)] first.
Her eyes widened in shock as it hovered before her.
Along with it came the [Blood Affinity (C-Level)] sub-talent scroll, allowing her to use the weapon properly, and a [Spirit Enhancement (E-Level)] sub-talent.
David received a full set: [Moon Sect Armor (Uncommon)], a [Moon Sect Sword (Uncommon)], and a [Strength Enhancement (D-Level)] sub-talent.
Aaron’s eyes nearly popped out of his head when the [Gold Shield (Legendary)] appeared in front of him, followed by the [Darkness Barrier (Epic)] skill and the [Darkness Manipulation (C-Level)] sub-talent required to use it.
And finally—
Eleonore. She received the most.
A [Vine Bow (Legendary)], [Constitution Enhancement (D-Level)], [Strength Enhancement (D-Level)]. And the [Shadow Arrows (Legendary)] skill.
“Holy shit…”
The reaction was unanimous.
They stared at the items, then at Leon, wondering if this was even real.
None of them dared to ask what he wanted in return.
“All I ask,” Leon said with a grin, “is that you help me if I ever need it in the future once you become big. Other than that, getting stronger is your priority.”
“You got it, brother Leon,” David said firmly as he equipped his new armor and sword. “I won’t disappoint you.”
One by one, the others equipped their gear, thanking him sincerely. Eleonore lingered for a moment.
“Once I feel worthy…” she said quietly, “…I hope you’ll let me join your group.”
Leon met her gaze and nodded. “Of course. Prove you’re capable first.”
With that, Leon turned away alongside Emilia.
“Alright,” he said calmly, “it’s time to reach level 25 and complete our second assessment.”
And with those words, they stepped forward, straight toward whatever awaited them next.
