Chapter 484: One Down, Five to Go

Emilia and Celeste seemed to be more reserved when it came to killing, though they would still do it when the situation demanded it.

On the other hand, Violet was used to such things, so she was excited, frost aura surrounding her rapier as she smiled in a way that would have made most people take a step back.

And just like that, the group moved forward.

They passed through the entrance of Divine Academy City with neutral expressions on their faces, except for Emilia, who seemed slightly anxious about what was going to happen.

She couldn’t help it.

Her instincts were telling her that something was off, and after everything they had been through, she had learned to trust those instincts more than almost anything else.

Leon, on the other hand, expected nothing to happen until he actually reached the square of Divine Academy and started attacking the teachers, so for the moment, everything felt calm enough.

He had entered Divine Academy City many times before, after all, whether it was to talk to Dominik or just to look around and see what was going on, so he thought nothing bad would happen out of nowhere...

And yet, only a few minutes after they had entered the city, something happened.

"B-Be careful!"

The group heard Emilia’s voice as she clenched her head slightly, her face twisting in pain slightly, which was the clearest sign that danger was coming their way.

Her precognition had triggered, and none of them questioned it as Leon, Violet and Celeste quickly took their stance.

And only a few seconds afterward, it happened.

Fwoosh! BOOM!

A giant crimson fireball roared toward the group from behind, forcing them to dodge out of the way while Leon used his sword to slice clean through it, splitting the flames apart before they could do any real damage.

’That was a powerful skill, almost on the same level as my Cataclysmic Fireball.’

Though his own spell was maxed-out, so it was still more powerful.

He looked toward where the fireball had come from, and standing atop a building was a woman with twin tails, her staff pointed directly at them with clear killing intent radiating from her posture.

"As expected, you came here," she nodded, almost like she was confirming something to herself, "The chairman didn’t lie about receiving a premonition from the God of Magic and God of War."

Leon’s eyes flare as he used his skill to check her panel.

One needed to understand that although Leon had met several servants of the gods by now, all of them had only received a fraction of the real blessing the gods gave to their most trusted followers.

The reason was quite simple, since the gods only gave their highest blessings to the servants they trusted the most, and those servants were almost always the ones residing in the Eternal Domain.

For someone like Monika, she was not nearly that trusted by the God of Magic, though he had still granted her a very small portion of his power, and that alone was enough to elevate her to this level of strength.

"Too bad, I was going to take you out without pain, but since you noticed me... I’ll have to deal with you in a much harsher way."

Monika immediately summoned the entire power of her water element, attempting to focus the entirety of her magic to launch a powerful beam straight toward the group with everything she had.

But none of the group moved. Not Leon, not Celeste, not Violet.

Instead, they all stared at Emilia, who had quickly lifted her scepter into the air without any hesitation.

Divine Wrath!

She charged her power for a split second and then launched it forward in the form of a golden beam that tore through the air.

The two beams collided with one another.

BAM!

It seemed like the two would battle for a split second, but the winner between the two was easily Emilia.

Her skill pushed through Monika’s attack almost instantly and kept going without slowing down.

"What—? But I was blessed by the God of Magic—"

BOOM!

Monika didn’t even have the time to finish her sentence as Emilia’s beam struck her directly, incinerating her body completely and leaving nothing behind but ash scattering in the wind.

"Phew," Emilia sighed, though she seemed slightly sad about what she had just done, "I guess I should have expected that."

"You did great," Leon patted her head gently, "They were not good people, and they would have surely caused tens of thousands of deaths if we had let them be."

"Thanks."

Emilia thought that Leon was just reassuring her, and though he was, he was also simply telling her the truth.

The Divine Academy’s teachers and chairman would go on to cause chaos across many higher domains in the future, and that was a fact Leon knew for certain.

That was why no matter how "nice" they seemed or how many items Dominik had given him, his mind had already been made up long before they ever set foot in this city.

Plus, the fact that Monika had attacked them on sight, and that the chairman had apparently told her to do it, was more than enough justification for what was about to happen.

’The God of War and God of Magic told Dominik about me, it seems. I’ll have to be careful.’

"Wow, I got a skill book from killing her!" Emilia gasped as a book appeared in her hand, [Water Foundation (Legendary)]!

"Damn, that’s... super rare."

One needed to understand that Emilia, Celeste and Violet still obtained a few items from killing monsters, but all of those items were either trash or completely inferior to the ones Leon usually obtained.

This was the very first time in these past few months that any of them had obtained a skill book through normal means, which made it something worth celebrating.

Emilia didn’t waste any time pouring her mana into the skill book to learn it, and just like that, the group moved forward once again.

’One down, five more to go,’ Leon thought.
