Chapter 462: One of Them Actually Died?
The items were the following:
[1. Supreme Ice Affinity Sub-Talent (S-Level)]
[2. Supreme Flame Affinity Sub-Talent (S-Level)]
[3. Ice and Flame King Essence]
[4. Skill Book: Flame Boost (Ancient)]
[5. Skill Book: Sub-Zero Zone (Ancient)]
[6. Ice and Flame Sword (Ascendant)]
"Damn," Leon muttered, genuinely impressed by the haul and the quality of the rewards.
All of these items were incredible, and Leon was interested to see what the skill books or the sword could do, but he didn’t have the luxury of time to examine them properly with the battle still raging around him.
But before he could think further, a terrifying roar echoed across the battlefield as the Void King swung his blade, still injured from Leon’s earlier attack, but able to hold the Requiem Guild members back with his overwhelming power and relentless assault.
’I need to be quick,’ Leon thought, his mind already made up as he made his selection.
He decided to select the [Ice and Flame King Essence] as it was the one thing that he believed could be useful to him directly, all others would be given to the girls or sold later for a profit, maximizing their value.
Fwoosh!
The celestial hand rushed toward the king’s corpse and pulled out the essence to place it on Leon’s storage space, the glowing orb settling among his other items with a soft pulse of energy.
Leon also decided to throw around 50 other items he only planned to sell at that moment, freeing up precious space for more valuable loot that was sure to come.
And speaking of the girls, he glanced at them, and sighed in relief as he saw them still fighting, their formation holding strong against the tide of monsters that threatened to overwhelm them.
A massive amount of corpses stood around them, the Undead Berserkers managing to do everything just fine, their axes cleaving through anything that came close, their relentless assault keeping the monsters at bay.
Though that didn’t mean the girls stood doing nothing, their abilities complementing the undead army perfectly and filling in the gaps in their defense.
SLASH!
Celeste and Pyra pierced through the souls of the monsters who got through the formation to kill them in one shot, their attacks bypassing physical defenses entirely and striking at the very essence of their enemies.
On the other hand, Violet froze the ground all around them to make sure any monster getting close would have a hard time, their movements slowed by the ice as they struggled to maintain their footing.
And finally, Emilia boosted Celeste’s strength and speed with her [Strength Buff] and [Speed Buff] spells, enhancing her combat effectiveness and allowing her to strike faster and harder.
Though even for someone like Emilia, using all these spells at once could exhaust her over time, draining her mana reserves and leaving her vulnerable.
Buffs scaled with their target, meaning that if she tried to use it on someone like Violet or Leon, it might be slightly difficulty due to their higher stats and the strain it would place on her.
Though of course, due to Emilia’s incredible spirit, he believed she would be completely fine for the duration of the battle, her reserves more than enough to sustain her.
’We’ll have to upgrade those skills either way with Skill Stones in the future,’ Leon thought, already planning ahead for their continued growth.
Fwoosh!
At that moment, the Void King opened a massive void portal before him, its edges crackling with dark energy that seemed to devour the light around it, then swung his sword at it launch it toward one of the Requiem Guild members.
BOOM!
There was a terrifying explosion as the area where the void portal hit was erased from existence, whatever chunk of the earth being sent to the void, disappearing without a trace, leaving only a gaping hole in the ground.
"All of you will fall..." the Void King spoke as he readied himself for more, his voice echoing with authority and malice, "You will face the wrath of the void itself."
The Void King raised his hand, and a massive shockwave of void energy erupted from his body, expanding outward in all directions like a wave of pure destruction.
The wave hit the Requiem Guild members before they could react, their bodies disintegrating on impact, their forms turning to dust as the void consumed them.
Five of them were caught in the blast, their bodies consumed by the void in an instant.
Among them was the Wolf Beastman who had been killed by the Ice and Flame King earlier.
He had returned to continue fighting after using his Resurrection Stone, but was caught once more in the devastating attack.
And since he only had one Resurrection Stone, his body didn’t disappear this time.
His corpse simply laid there, half of his body missing from the blast, and the upper half filled with fractures of void as he died, his eyes still open, frozen in shock.
Seeing this, most of the Requiem Guild members backed away in terror, their confidence shattered by the sudden turn of events, their formation breaking apart.
"H-Holy shit, Kairo is dead..." one of them stammered, his voice trembling with disbelief.
"What the fuck? What about his Resurrection Stone?!" another shouted, his eyes wide with horror.
"I-I think he already used it up..." a third member said, his face pale as the realization set in.
"WHAT? THEN WHY DID HE ATTACK FROM SO CLOSE!"
The requiem guild members were in total panic, their morale shattered, their coordination falling apart.
And the Void King enjoyed seeing that, taking the opportunity to rush to slash through another one of them, who used up their Resurrection Stone and disintegrated, respawning back at the entrance of the Requiem stronghold since that was the nearest spawnpoint.
Leon, who was seeped into the ground with Alphox beside him, simply kept observing to see what would happen, his expression neutral as he watched the chaos unfold.
’Good job, Void King,’ he thought internally, a grin spreading across his face, ’Kill more of them!’
