Chapter 460: Abyssal Execution is Overpowered

  • Next Chapter

Leon instantly faded into the ground below, his body dissolving into shadow, becoming quite literally invisible even if someone were looking directly at him.

It would take an extremely perceptive being, someone with a high darkness sub-talent, or someone with an incredibly high combat power to be able to see him.

But none of the people around him, neither the Serpent King or the Requiem Guild members, had that kind of perception, leaving him free to move unnoticed.

Regardless, as Leon used his skill and seeped into the ground, he felt as though his power was slowly charging, the energy building with each passing second, growing more and more intense.

’That’s right, the description said that the longer I remain hidden, the more devastating my strike becomes...’ Leon thought, his mind racing with possibilities.

This meant that against another opponent, if he remained hidden for almost the entire 10 minutes, his strike would likely be able to one-shot even opponent with tremendous combat power.

But unfortunately, Leon didn’t have the time for that in this scenario, as he needed to eliminate the Serpent King and then fight the Ice and Flame King before the Requiem Guild claimed them both.

Alphox had also seeped into the ground, following Leon around, his small form moving through the shadows like a ghost, ready to strike when needed.

’Beside that, the description of [Abyssal Execution] also had the words Void and Abyss in it, meaning its not only empowered by my SSS-Level Darkness sub-talent, but the other two as well,’ Leon realized, a new understanding dawning on him.

This meant that if his Void and Abyss sub-talent grew in power, so would this skill, eventually having the power of three SSS-Level sub-talents would surely make it able to annihilate anything in his way, tearing through even the strongest defenses.

No matter, Leon kept going around the place for around two minutes, waiting for the perfect opportunity as the requiem guild members and Serpent King fought.

He watched their movements, studied their patterns, and waited for the right moment to strike.

But even though it had only been two minutes, Leon felt the strength of his skill grow to tremendous length, the power building within him like a coiled spring, ready to explode.

The Serpent King lunged at the twins, its massive fangs aiming to crush them, but Yanzi raised her staff and unleashed a blinding flash of golden light that stunned the beast, holding it in place.

The rest of the three members rushed forward to kill it, their weapons raised, their attacks aimed at its exposed throat.

And that’s when Leon saw his opportunity.

’NOW!’

He came out of the shadows with the power of whatever energy he had gathered for these two minutes and struck down.

SLASH!

Leon’s blade descended like a bolt of darkness from the heavens, his swing releasing an explosion of shadow that sent cracks through the earth and split the air itself.

The strike cleaved through the Serpent King’s neck in one devastating motion, its head flying from its body as it roared in agony before collapsing.

All of this happened in a fraction of a second, but it was enough to take even the Requiem Guild members off guard.

Ding!

[You have killed "Serpent King, Naga" and gained...]

[100% Drop Rate has triggered...]

"Nice," Leon grinned, his eyes gleaming with satisfaction as he landed softly on the ground, the power of the kill surging through him.

[Unfortunately, your Storage Space is full, all items will be dropped on the corpse.]

"Damn."

Since he didn’t have the time to truly focus on the items right now, Leon simply tossed out around a dozen items he didn’t need into the ground to pick up the five that came from the Serpent King, his movements quick and efficient.

And right as he was about to rush toward the Ice and Flame King, he heard a voice behind him, filled with barely contained rage.

"Human, you piece of shit!"

It was the wolf beastman from the Requiem Guild, who seemed utterly furious, his eyes blazing with anger and his claws extended.

Based on his demeanor and the fact his hands were flexed to attack, Leon knew that staying wasn’t a good idea, as the beastman was ready to strike at any moment.

"How dare you steal our kill when WE were going to—"

Fwoosh!

Before the beastman could finish his sentence, Leon used the passive of his Abyssal Execution, which allowed him to return into the ground after a kill without delay, his body dissolving into shadow.

"—What?" the beastman growled.

The beastman looked around, but he truly couldn’t see where Leon had gone off to, even though he was literally right in front of him, his senses failing to detect the hidden threat.

’This ability really is overpowered,’ Leon thought, a grin spreading across his face, ’they can’t even see me from this close.’

If Leon wanted, he could likely sit underground for the entire time and attack at the last second to completely kill them without them even knowing what hit them.

The only way it would end badly was if they were on guard for the entire duration and thus dodged it.

That’s something Leon actually expected someone like Cavin, Empress or Granite to do, though the other members of the Requiem Guild might not be able to react, especially if they were alone and caught off guard.

’Well, either way,’ Leon shrugged internally.

Leon could stay hidden for another ten minutes, so he took the time to head toward the Ice and Flame King’s location, moving through the shadows with practiced ease.

The four Requiem Guild members were struggling much more than those with the Serpent King, their attacks barely scratching the dual-elemental beast.

Among them was the ethereal woman whose hands crackled with mana, the dwarf with a giant axe, the man in heavy plate armor and the one with mechanical limbs, each of them fighting with everything they had.

Indeed, the Ice and Flame King, Ignis, was much stronger, even though the two kings had a similar combat power on paper.

His ability to wield both elements simultaneously made him far more dangerous and unpredictable.

But it wouldn’t last for much longer though, as the four who were fighting the Serpent King were joining the battle now, their footsteps echoing across the battlefield.

’Good, give me another opportunity,’ Leon thought with a wide smile, ’I’ll be waiting.’
