Chapter 383: Chapte 383: Killing Three Participants, Another Impossible Monster
"YOU LITTLE SHIT," the archer roared, firing an arrow at Leon, which he avoided with a casual sidestep.
"Goddamn it," the elf leader groaned, his sword trembling with rage, "Its Celestial."
"H-Holy shit, you’re right, its him!" the priest stammered, his confidence evaporating.
"Its our chance to fuck him up, that guy’s been getting too cocky, and he’s alone!"
The three elves got their weapons ready, eager to destroy the person before them and reclaim their stolen kill.
"AND MORE THAN ANYTHING," the priest shouted as he lifted his staff, ready to use his spells on his companions to buff them, "THAT FUCKER STOLE OUR KILL—"
SLASH!
This time, it wasn’t Leon, as he hadn’t moved from his position, but the after-image of three massive claws erupted on the priest as he was cut, his body dropping to the ground before he could finish his sentence.
"WHAT?!" the elf leader turned around in shock, and right behind his companion he saw... a small dragon with gleaming eyes and claws ready to strike again.
Leon had ordered Alphox to attack from behind the moment they had their backs turned, catching them completely off guard.
The plan had worked perfectly, and without the priest and his support spells to buff them, the leader and archer stood absolutely no chance against Leon and Alphox.
"GODDAMN IT, CELESTIAL, DIE!"
Slash!
The elf leader swung his sword with all his might, but Leon met it with his own, a wide smile on his face as their blades clashed, sparks flying.
The archer woman quickly tried to launch a barrage of arrows at Leon to support her leader, but she was forced to dodge another one of Alphox’s claw swings that came at her from the side.
She could feel that if she was hit by the small pet’s attacks, she wouldn’t survive, the power behind them was simply too great.
"KRAAAAAAAAAAAA~"
Alphox roared at that moment, the sound echoing through the plaza, making the archer girl tremble as she was intimidated by the baby dragon’s presence.
And using this opportunity, Leon summoned his [Shadow Bullets] and launched them all toward the distracted archer.
Safe to say, she stood no chance against the barrage, and her body was filled with holes as she fell to the ground, dead.
The elf leader panicked even more as he saw that, realizing his two companions were dead and he was now alone against Leon and Alphox.
"Fortunately for you," Leon smiled as he pushed the leader away with a powerful shove, "You’ll join them soon enough."
SLASH!
He overpowered the elf with his superior strength, slashing his head and killing him instantly, his body crumpling to the ground.
Just like that, he managed to kill both the boss monster and three participants in one efficient sequence of attacks.
"Phew," Leon sighed, "Good enough, we need to keep going though, there’s still plenty of time left."
[221 participants remain.]
It felt weird to Leon killing three players and seeing their numbers being reduced from the amount of participants left, knowing that he had just eliminated competitors who were also fighting for the same rewards.
Of course though, he would do it all over again if he saw anybody else, because this was a competition and mercy would only hold him back from victory.
As he saw just now with the elves, he couldn’t allow anybody to take kills from him, especially from "impossible" difficulty monsters, since they were his key to victory and accumulating enough mana points to secure a top spot.
Since the players he killed weren’t truly dead though, just eliminated from the event, Leon didn’t get anything from them in terms of loot or experience, and his [Slaughter Meter] didn’t increase from their deaths.
Tick!
[220 participants remain.]
Seeing the number go down was the thing that brought him back to reality and made him focus once more, reminding him that time was ticking and others were also hunting.
Leon, followed closely by Alphox who was trotting beside him with eager energy, rushed through the ruined city, aiming to find any other monster that could give him more mana points.
And indeed, it didn’t take long for him to find another one, the ground shaking beneath his feet as something massive moved through the rubble ahead.
[Sand Centipede (Mana Monster)]
[Level: 100]
[Talent: None.]
[Combat Power: 9,000,000]
’Holy shit, it has the same combat power as the [Moon Crescent Wolf] that Violet fought,’ Leon thought with narrowed eyes, ’its... extremely strong and durable.’
This would definitely be his toughest battle yet, and by a wide margin compared to everything he had faced in this domain so far.
The centipede was actually extremely massive, its long segmented body surrounding many buildings and winding through the streets like a living serpent.
As soon as it detected Leon though, it lifted its head high above the rubble, its antennas twitching rapidly as it sensed his presence and locked onto him.
Fwoosh!
Then using its many legs it rushed at blinding speed toward Leon, smashing into him before he could even react to the sudden movement.
’Holy shit, that thing moves fast for its size,’ Leon thought as he hit one of the broken buildings, his body crashing through the crumbling wall.
His impact with it was enough to completely destroy that building as it collapsed to the ground in a cloud of dust and debris.
Mist rose from the rubble, and it must have made a ton of sound, meaning that some players may possibly come to investigate the commotion.
’Need to end this quickly before others show up,’ Leon thought, pushing himself to his feet.
Leon dashed and swung his sword at the centipede while it was busy moving around, trying to find an opening in its defenses.
SLASH!
Leon swung his sword with the full power of his strength as well as his blood heart blessing, putting everything he had into the strike.
After all, its body was so massive he could pretty much attack anywhere and still be able to cut it down, so he aimed for the closest segment.
CLANG!
"—What?" Leon said, his eyes widening in disbelief.
Leon’s sword had hit the target, but it didn’t even pierce or make any marks on the centipedes giant body, as if he had struck solid metal.
It was as if its body was reinforced with a material so strong nothing could pierce it, some kind of natural armor that defied logic.
’But...’ Leon thought, doing the math in his head.
[Strength: 93,210 + 9,321 (+52,700 + 310,462)]
Leon’s strength was equal to 465,693 and with the blood heart blessing on his sword, every strike of his was equal to triple that amount.
Meaning that the centipede’s body was able to tank 1.4 million strength without even flinching or showing a scratch.
Even among level 100 monsters, this was impossibly durable and beyond anything Leon had faced before.
’But that can’t be the only way to defeat it, because if so, nothing would be able to pierce its body and it would be invincible.’
This simply meant that attacking the body wouldn’t do anything, so perhaps the head was the way to damage it, a weak point hidden somewhere.
Leon was forced to use his [Time Stop] to dodge a massive swipe attack from the centipede’s tail, and he re-appeared above a building as his time stop ran out.
’Goddamn it, I can’t even find its head anymore with all this rubble around,’ Leon thought, scanning the area.
The centipede body’s went in all kinds of direction and even through some buildings, making it impossible to track where its head was located.
In fact, it seemed it deliberately hid its head to make sure no one could find its weakness, proving it was smarter than it looked.
Leon felt the aftereffects of [Time Stop] a little, a slight fatigue settling into his muscles, though he believed he was getting used to the strain over time.
The reason why the [Time Overseer] was able to use [Time Stop] for so long was both because his affinity to time was maxed out, but also because he spent a LONG time training with it and building up his tolerance.
If Leon had to assume, he could use it four times before passing out or being too exhausted to move, making each use precious.
’That’s one down, three more to go,’ Leon thought, planning his next move.
Cataclysmic Fireball!
Leon tried to fire a spell at the centipede, hoping magic might work better than physical attacks.
But though it exploded loudly and created a massive explosion that rocked the area, the monster didn’t even react to the blast, its body completely unharmed.
’Goddamn level 100 monsters, all of them are twisted in their own way, and it gets even worse past that level.’
The monsters above level 100, those in the [Eternal Domain], were beings of immeasurable strength that could destroy cities by themselves if they wanted to.
The gap was simply too large to even think you could stand before them.
