Chapter 382: The Broken Ape, First Big Kill
[Broken Ape (Mana Monster)]
[Level: 100]
[Talent: None.]
[Combat Power: 8,700,000]

’Heh, still weaker than the [Moon Crescent Wolf] that Violet fought in the training grounds,’ Leon thought, assessing the monster’s power level.
It hit its chest repeatedly with its massive fists as it got ready to swing its cracked limbs at the elves, its body language indicating it was preparing for another assault.
Leon couldn’t prove it definitively, but he assumed from the rules that only the person that dealt the final blow could get the mana points from a monster.
Contribution didn’t matter since even if many people fought at once and dealt damage to the same monster, only one would receive the mana at the end of the fight.
And that person would be the one to actually kill the monster, no matter how injured it was or how much damage others had done to it beforehand.
For an assassin-type player who specialized in stealth and finishing blows, this was the perfect opportunity to steal kills from unsuspecting opponents, as well as eliminate players who were distracted by the fight.
Still, Leon had known from a single glance that the [Broken Ape] was far from being the hardest "impossible" monster in the domain, given its combat power and relatively predictable attack patterns.
SWASH!
It swung its massive fist at the elf leader with incredible speed for something its size, but the elf moved with intense swiftness, dodging the attack by a hair’s breadth and swinging his sword in retaliation.
Slash!
He managed to put a decent cut on the ape’s arm while retaining his normal expression, his blade slicing through the cracked skin with practiced precision.
"See," the elf leader grinned at his companions, confidence radiating from his voice, "We faced worse than this before, that thing is nothing to worry about."
"R-Right!" one of the elves stammered, his voice filled with renewed confidence.
"Lets kick that thing’s ass and get the mana points!" the archer added, nocking another arrow.
The other male elf raised his scepter and cast a spell that put a golden aura around his companions, a shimmering barrier of energy that buffed them.
’Priest,’ Leon thought to himself, ’Good to know, need to get rid of him first if I want to take them down.’
Priests and support-type players weren’t strong by themselves in terms of offensive power, but when put in a team, they became absolute monsters that amplified their allies’ abilities.
Emilia hadn’t truly focused on her support spells yet since she was more of a damage dealer, but she still had the [Support Saint] title as well as [Agility Enhancement] and [Strength Buff] skills that she could use.
Leon hadn’t used them at all recently since he wanted to make sure he could defeat monsters with his very own strength and speed though, not relying on outside buffs.
If they were ever separated in the future, he needed to be sure he could kill his enemies without Emilia’s buffs to rely on, so he trained without them.
The second elf was a woman, and she launched an extremely fast arrow that streaked through the air, hitting the broken ape’s eye and blinding it on one side.
ROOOOAR!
The ape roared in agony as it held one of its eyes, blood trickling from its face and staining its cracked skin, and it became more aggressive and reckless in its attacks.
It smashed the ground with both fists, and unlike before, this time something began to come out of it, emerging from the cracks in the earth.
Small ape-like constructs started to be formed from the plaza’s ground, surrounding the group of elves with their stony bodies and hollow eyes.
"Looks like he got his summons out," the leader grinned, "Good enough, we can get rid of them in one go."
And finally, the leader used a blade, and he seemed immensely fast and strong compared to his companions.
His strength wasn’t on par with Leon’s since Leon’s strike would have definitely cut off the ape’s arm rather than just wounding it.
But as for speed... they were pretty damn close to each other in terms of reaction time and agility.
In a few seconds only, the elf leader swung his blade around, striking every construct and shattering it with precise, powerful strikes that destroyed them instantly.
This infuriated the broken ape even more, its roars growing louder and more desperate, but even then, it didn’t truly stand a chance before the trio’s coordinated assault.
The fight kept going for a few more minutes, the elves wearing down the monster with each passing moment, until the ape visibly kneeled, its body heavily injured, and the cracks all over its body on the verge of exploding from the damage.
"Take it, leader!" the archer beamed, her voice filled with excitement, "With this, we’ll definitely be first place!"
"Indeed," the elf grinned as his sword flashed, ready to use a skill to end the battle and claim the kill, "Here we go—"
Fwoosh!
But at that moment, the three elves saw something emerge from the ground behind the ape, a shadowy figure rising from the darkness itself.
And with a powerful swing of its sword, the figure cut off the broken ape’s head without any resistance, the blade slicing clean through the monster’s neck.
The broken ape’s head fell to the ground with a heavy thud as it was killed instantly, its body crumbling.
Ding!
[You have killed "Broken Ape (Mana Monster)"]
The monster’s corpse then turned into many small blue particles that flowed directly into the figure’s jar, filling it with glowing energy.
Of course, the figure was Leon, he had used [Abyssal Slash] to come behind the ape and kill it at the perfect moment when the elves were distracted.
And his theory had been proven right: only the person that deals the finishing blow gets the mana points, no matter how much damage others had dealt.
[Mana Points: 36]
’Heh, twenty mana points from this monster alone, I guess impossible monsters really are the way to victory,’ Leon thought, a smirk forming on his face.
Not only did he managed to increase his mana points by a huge amount in one fell swoop, he also stole the kill right from under their noses!
But of course, the three elves didn’t seem to have liked that very much, their expressions turning from triumph to fury.
