Chapter 356: Pyra’s Evolution, To The Imperial Guild
"Haha," Leon laughed warmly as he pat the two girls’ heads gently, feeling their relief through their tight embraces, "I guess its been a while."
To Leon it had only been a few days since the [Time Overseer] had advanced time outside during the challenge, meaning he felt as if only seconds had passed and the separation had been brief.
But to them, it had indeed been an entire month without any news from him, so seeing him again was clearly relieving.
The trio climbed the stairs and reached their inn room, which had two beds in it and was cozy but simple.
"We’ve been staying here the entire time since its cheap," Celeste explained, "And other than that, we just leveled up as much as we could, trying to make the most of the time."
"Oh?" Leon grinned with curiosity, "What level are you two now after so long of grinding?"
They both sent their panels over to Leon and... he was actually quite surprised by what he saw, his eyebrows raising in genuine appreciation.
"Level 93 and level 94?" he let out, impressed by their progress, "Holy hell, you’re both really close to level 100 now..."
"And not only that, but I got lucky enough to drop some essences," Emilia grinned, puffing out her chest with pride, "The drop rate was indeed abysmal without you though, almost got nothing most days."
"As for me, I didn’t get much as I mainly used my [Phoenix Ember] to gain stats," Celeste seemed disappointed at first, before revealing a wide smile, "But someone else did!"
Bam!
A powerful light erupted from Celeste’s chest as flames came out, and from these flames, a magnificent phoenix appeared with brilliant feathers that shimmered in the light, its presence filling the room with warmth.
It only took a split second for Leon to realize who this was, recognizing the familiar form despite its new appearance.
"Pyra evolved!" Leon said with excitement, a wide smile spreading across his face.
"Yes!" Celeste beamed with pride, "She’s now more powerful and beautiful, and can even kill level 95 monsters with ease!"
Leon was very impressed that her pet managed to grow so strong in just a month, making him even more eager to evolve Alphox and see what his own pet could do when properly trained.
But speaking of the pet, Leon also grinned as he spoke, "Well, here’s the new addition to our party, Alphox."
Fwoosh!
The baby dragon appeared on one of the two chamber’s beds as Leon summoned it out of its [Pet Space], the small creature materializing in a soft flash of light that briefly illuminated the room.
Alphox was still soundly sleeping at the time, completely oblivious to his new surroundings, so he simply lay there curled up in a tight ball, his small chest rising and falling with each peaceful breath.
"Oh my god," Celeste shrieked with pure delight as she approached the small dragon, her eyes wide with wonder, "He’s so incredibly cute!"
Alphox’s small body was moving up and down based on his steady breathing, though he didn’t wake up at all despite the commotion happening around him.
He was truly deeply asleep, completely exhausted from the hatching process, and even Celeste gently petting his soft fur wasn’t enough to rouse him from his slumber.
"A small dragon, heh," Emilia smiled warmly as she looked at the sleeping creature, "I guess I’m the only one without a pet now."
"Getting a good pet isn’t easy at all," Leon replied thoughtfully, "In fact, Pyra and Alphox are both extremely rare creatures that most players will never even see in their entire time here."
If Emilia wanted a pet, it wouldn’t be hard to go outside and buy an ordinary egg in the [Imperial Kingdom] from one of the many vendors that sold them.
But of course, while a pet might be a good companion and support in battle, it would be preferable for them to be extremely strong and useful rather than just average.
"You’ll get one someday, I hope," Leon nodded encouragingly, "We’ll keep an eye out for something that suits you."
While this happened, he decided to pay attention to Pyra again, the now fully grown phoenix sitting proudly on Celeste’s head like a majestic crown.
Pyra was three times as big as she was before her evolution, her form shining even brighter as golden flames surrounded her body like a protective aura.
"Kyuu~" she chirped softly, her voice much more pronounced and melodic than before, and even her gaze was much more fierce and intelligent.
She had become incredibly stronger after just one evolution, and while petting her gently, Leon took the opportunity to check the pet’s full panel.

"By the way," Leon looked down at Celeste with curiosity, "What did the [Pet Consumption Crystal (Mythical)] actually do when you used it?"
That was the item he had bought for Celeste back in [Higher Domain #3] for a whopping 10 million eternal coins, an incredibly expensive purchase that he hoped had been worth it.
It was too expensive for a normal player to even consider buying, so there had to be something about it that was genuinely useful for the investment.
[Pet Consumption Crystal (Mythical): Give this crystal to a pet right after an evolution to enhance their powers even further, do note that there is a risk.]
"Yeah, it worked perfectly," Celeste grinned with satisfaction, "Pyra learned the skill [Flame Sharing] after I gave it to her, and I guess there wasn’t any risk after all in the end!"
"Hm..." Leon scratched his chin thoughtfully as he looked at the sleeping Alphox, "That’s good to know."
The system was never wrong about these things, so if it said something about a risk, then there definitely must be something to it that players needed to be careful about.
Maybe the risk was only related to weaker pets, as higher-ranked ones were able to handle the crystal’s power and grow stronger without any negative side effects.
Once the group was done with their pet admiration session, Leon and Celeste sent their pets back to their [Pet Space], the two creatures disappearing in soft flashes of light, and then the trio exited the inn to explore the kingdom properly.
"You need to register at the [Imperial Guild] to get a citizenship here, then you can start completing quests to make money, since you need to pay 10,000 Eternal Coins per month you stay here," Emilia explained as they walked.
"Holy hell, I’m guessing whoever controls this place is rich," Leon said, doing the math in his head.
With so many players coming to this place constantly, even 10,000 Eternal Coins per month from each of them was bound to become an absolute fortune over time.
Leon and the two girls walked through the bustling streets of the kingdom, passing by various shops and vendors, until eventually, they arrived at the imperial guild, a massive imposing building located at the most populated area in the kingdom by far.
There were many guards located around there as well, standing at attention with their hands on their weapons, though these ones wore a more robust-looking armor.
"Here we go, I think you’re strong enough to fight if anything happens, but its better to remain calm and not cause any trouble," Emilia spoke as they approached the building’s entrance, "It’ll be fine as long as we don’t do anything stupid."
But right as they were about to enter the guild’s building...
"Halt," one of the lizard guards grinned, his companions beside him giggling as well, "May I see some ID?"
"...?" Leon looked at him with a neutral gaze, hiding any ounce of hostility he had, "Do they do that often?"
"Huh... a little," Emilia scratched the back of her head, whispering to Leon, "They say its for safety."
"Hm."
Leon didn’t like the way these guards looked at them, and more precisely at his companions.
In fact, it seemed like they looked at him as if he was an insect in their way.
Celeste and Emilia pulled out their "citizenship" ID from their storage spaces and giving it to the guards.
Angering these beings, no matter how unfair it was, wasn’t something that anybody wanted to do.
There were tens of thousands of them all around the kingdom, so at that point, one would need to leave or would pay the price with their lives.
And since they were the ones who were in charge here, there was no such thing as "law" here, they simply made up their own rules.
Though of course they had their own "hierarchy" in this place and needed to follow what their higher-ups said.
"What about the man?" the guard asked, his tail swinging behind him.
"I’m here to register," Leon replied blankly, "I’ll show it to you once I—"
"I don’t like the way you speak to us," the guard roared, cutting off Leon before he could finish, "You seem to be new here, so perhaps we’ll let you off the hook... for a small price."
