Chapter 355: Entering The Imperial Kingdom, Unexpected Coincidence
As Leon reached the kingdom’s entrance, many guards turned their heads toward him, their reptilian eyes scanning him carefully and assessing whether he was a threat.
All of them had lizard heads, wearing crimson armors that gleamed in the sunlight and holding big swords that looked sharp enough to cut through steel, and they also had tails that swayed behind their backs like restless whips.
"Please show us your ID, player," one of them said in a gruff voice.
"...ID?" Leon titled his head in confusion, not having encountered this requirement before.
"I guess you’re new here," the guard sighed with clear annoyance, "It’s fine, I’ll handle it for you this time."
He wrote Leon’s ID, Celestial, on a small piece of paper with an emblem resembling a scorched cross stamped on it, then handed it to him with a grunt.
"Temporary ID for you to enter the [Imperial Kingdom], you’ll have to get a real one at the guild by tomorrow, or it’ll be considered trespassing and..." the guard didn’t finish his sentence, but Leon could see all of the lizards’ eyes glow with an ominous light that suggested the consequences would be severe.
’At times like these I wish I had Celeste’s [Eye of Fury] so I could check them out without them knowing,’ Leon sighed internally.
If he used [Appraisal] on them they would be able to sense it, and on beings like this, he didn’t feel like angering them unnecessarily, especially since he had just arrived and didn’t want to cause trouble.
It wasn’t that he wasn’t able to fight back, Leon was quite sure he’d be able to stand his ground against them if it came to that, but that would only cause more problems and potentially get him banned from the kingdom.
But still, he needed the [Imperial Kingdom] as it was likely the biggest landmark in [Higher Domain #1].
"Alright, thanks," Leon nodded and he was allowed inside, though not without sneers from the guards as he passed, their eyes following him with barely concealed hostility.
It seemed like they really hated this job and only wanted to cause havoc by fighting instead of standing around all day, their frustration palpable in the air.
Still, they were an incredible barrier that no monster could hope to trespass against, their sheer numbers and strength making the kingdom one of the safest places in the domain.
Anything dangerous that got close to the kingdom was likely annihilated by the guards very quickly without any trouble, which explained why the area around the walls was so peaceful.
’Good thing that I unsummoned Alphox before coming here,’ Leon sighed in relief, ’Would have been hard to explain a dragon pet to these guys.’
In fact, Leon wondered if Alphox was strong enough to battle these guards if it came down to it, or if he would be completely outmatched.
"...Nah, probably not," he decided, shaking his head.
To Leon, Alphox was still a baby, there was no way in hell this small thing could fight level 100 monsters or natives, no matter how powerful it was supposed to become later when it was fully grown.
As soon as Leon entered the [Imperial Kingdom], he sent a message to Emilia and Celeste to let them know he had arrived and was looking for them.
[Celestial: I’m in the Imperial Kingdom now!]
And as soon as he sent that, two responses came back almost instantly, the notifications chiming in rapid succession.
Ding! Ding!
[UndyingPhoenix: Ohmigod you’re here! Its been over a month!]
[Saintess: Did you hatch the egg? Can we see the pet??]
[Celestial: Secret, you’ll have to explain to me how this place works first.]
Since a month had passed, Celeste and Emilia had already become accustomed to the kingdom, and had likely grown much stronger during that time, training and fighting monsters daily.
Leon was especially excited to see their growth and what new abilities they had acquired, curious to see how they had spent their time.
He opened the [World Map], allowing him to see the place where Celeste and Emilia were as icons of them appeared on it since they were his friends, their locations marked clearly.
But while looking at the map, Leon noticed something else: a third icon that he hadn’t expected to see, one that made him stop and stare.
’Hold on...’ Leon’s eyes widened with surprise as he recognized the symbol.
He zoomed in on it, and right there was a chibi-like drawing of Violet’s face, AKA RainbowDragon, the woman he had fought alongside in the [Forsaken City] of the second god-rank assessment.
’Holy shit, she’s here too?’ Leon thought, genuinely shocked.
Leon knew she was in [Higher Domain #1] as she had told him back then, but he expected her to have already moved further by now given her strength and ambition.
Regardless, it was an incredible coincidence, and he vowed to meet with her to talk later if he had the chance, curious to see how she had been doing.
The [Imperial Kingdom] was not as modern as the [Awakener Kingdom], in fact it was more medieval than any other kingdom Leon had seen yet, with a rustic charm that was both refreshing and limiting.
The houses were made of wood and stone, the roads were paved with cobblestones that had been worn smooth by countless footsteps, and the natives wore simple outfits that wouldn’t look out of place in a fantasy story from another world.
Only the players stood out due to all the different magical items they had equipped, glowing and shimmering as they walked through the streets, their gear a stark contrast to the simple clothing of the natives.
Overall, the kingdom seemed peaceful, though incredibly boring compared to the [Awakener Kingdom] with its advanced technology, lacking the excitement and energy it had.
If Leon had to choose, he’d definitely live in higher domain #3 rather than here, just for the better quality of life.
After around an hour of walking through the winding streets, Leon reached the spot where Celeste and Emilia were staying, which was a small inn called [Moon Crescent] tucked away on a quiet corner.
And as soon as he passed through the door and stepped inside the warm interior, he felt two figures practically launch themselves into his arms.
