Chapter 308: Spirit Attribute Reduced?
Someone like Emilia would probably still survive in the [Exiled Lands] due to her ridiculous spirit stat, but even she would struggle much more than usual.
Meanwhile, Leon’s undead skeletons had already reached the sentinels.
CLANG! SLASH!
The battlefield instantly erupted into chaos. The [Exiled Sentinels] fought fiercely despite their lower combat power, their swords crashing against the skeletons repeatedly while dark mist poured from their armor.
Yet Leon’s undead warriors were simply stronger. Each skeleton possessed around 2.6 million combat power.
The sentinels stood no chance in direct confrontation. One after another, the monsters were cut apart violently.
Still, the sentinels managed to destroy three skeletons before the battle ended completely.
The destroyed undead collapsed into piles of broken bones and rusted armor across the gray ground.
Leon watched calmly before nodding in satisfaction, “Only three losses.”
Considering the number and level of the enemies, that result was excellent. A moment later, system notifications flooded his vision.
Ding!
[You have killed x12 “Exiled Sentinel” and gained 2,400,000 experience points.]
[100% Drop Rate has activated.]
And immediately afterward—
Ding!
[Congratulations! You have leveled up to Level 76.]
[You have gained 450 points in all attributes and 450 free points to distribute.]
Leon stared at the notifications briefly before sighing.
“Only one level after killing twelve monsters ten levels above me…”
Still, a grin slowly appeared on his face afterward, “Incredible.”
Under normal circumstances, that amount of experience would have pushed him up several levels instantly.
The only reason the gain felt small was because of the [Will of Nature]’s curse increasing his required experience massively.
A normal player would never even dream of farming monsters ten levels above themselves consistently.
Most players struggled against enemies equal to their own level. Meanwhile, Leon was casually massacring level 85 monsters at level 75.
Even with the curse restricting his progress, the growth speed remained absurd.
And more importantly… The enemies here clearly weren’t impossible for him.
Yes, the monsters would become stronger the deeper he traveled into the [Exiled Lands].
Yes, the level 90 boss guarding the [Magicless Core] would likely be terrifying.
But Leon no longer felt worried. Not after seeing this. His combat power advantage was simply too overwhelming. Especially when combined with his undead army.
Leon finally relaxed slightly before opening his [Storage Space] to inspect the loot dropped by the sentinels.
Since [100% Drop Rate] activated… Every single monster had definitely dropped something.
And considering these were level 85 monsters from the [Exiled Lands], Leon already had a feeling the rewards wouldn’t be ordinary at all.
Leon’s eyes remained fixed on the twelve glowing essences floating inside his [Storage Space], his expression slowly tightening the more he reread the description shown before him.
[Exiled Sentinel Essence x12: Consuming will increase Strength by 75 and reduce Spirit by 10.]
“…Wait what?”
The words escaped Leon’s mouth almost instantly, because out of every strange thing he had seen since entering [Eternal Ascension], an item that actually reduced one of his attributes after consumption was not something he expected to encounter.
At first glance, the essence looked incredible, because seventy-five Strength was an absurd gain for a single consumable item, especially when multiplied by twelve, yet the drawback attached to it made Leon stop and think carefully.
Normally, nobody in their right mind would willingly reduce their own attributes.
Every point mattered in [Eternal Ascension], especially in the [Higher Domains], where the difference between survival and death could literally come down to a few thousand combat power.
But after seeing how the [Exiled Lands] functioned, Leon immediately understood the logic behind it.
This place hated magic. Or more accurately… it suppressed it.
The moment he arrived here, Leon had already sensed that something was wrong with the atmosphere around him, though he hadn’t understood exactly what it was until his magic weakened during the fight against the [Exiled Sentinels].
Mana in this place was incomplete. Distorted. Almost devoured. And now these essences were basically offering players a trade.
Sacrifice a portion of your [Spirit], and in exchange, gain overwhelming physical strength so you could survive in a land where magic users were crippled.
Leon slowly rubbed his chin while thinking about it.
“If I consume every one of these,” he muttered, “I’ll lose one hundred and twenty Spirit…”
In the grand scheme of things, that amount truly wasn’t much for him anymore.
His attributes had already reached monstrous levels after everything he had gone through recently, especially after the [God-Rank Assessment], meaning that losing such a small amount of [Spirit] would barely make a difference.
Meanwhile, the Strength gain was absurd. Nine hundred Strength from only twelve enemies.
A normal player would likely spend weeks grinding for gains like this.
Leon grinned, “Well then…”
Nom! Nom! Nom!
Without hesitation, Leon immediately consumed every single essence one after another.
The moment the first essence entered his body, he felt a heavy surge spread through his muscles, making his arms tense slightly as raw power flooded into him.
At the same time though, Leon could also feel a faint draining sensation from his mind, as if part of his magical energy was being peeled away little by little.
Yet the reduction was so minor compared to his overall reserves that Leon barely cared.
Ding!
[+900 Strength, -120 Spirit.]
Leon clenched his fist tightly. The air around his hand trembled slightly from sheer force alone.
“Damn,” he laughed quietly, “This place might actually be incredible.”
He quickly checked the rest of the loot afterward. Unfortunately, the remaining items were nowhere near as useful as he thought.
[Exiled Sword x12 (Rare)]
[Exiled Sentinel Armor x12 (Epic)]
The equipment wasn’t terrible by normal standards, but compared to Leon’s current arsenal, they weren’t good either.
Still, he threw everything into his [Storage Space] anyway, because even useless items could eventually be sold.
Once that was done, Leon waited several minutes for his destroyed skeletons to recover.
Fwoosh!
One after another, the fallen undead slowly reconstructed themselves from dark particles until his army stood complete once again.
Then, without wasting anymore time, Leon resumed his march toward the massive mountain range in the distance.
The deeper he advanced into the [Exiled Lands], the more enemies appeared.
Groups of [Exiled Sentinels] charged him repeatedly.
Several ghost-like creatures called [Spiritless Wraiths] emerged from the ground trying to tear into his soul.
Large packs of [Exiled Wolves] rushed through the gray fields with glowing crimson eyes.
Yet none of them posed any real threat. Most of the time, Leon didn’t even need to move.
His skeleton army alone was enough to massacre nearly everything that approached them.
The undead skeletons tore through enemies with overwhelming physical strength, while Leon simply walked behind them calmly with Celeste’s flame remaining protected in one skeleton’s hands.
The [Undead Mages], however, became increasingly useless the further they traveled.
Every time they tried to summon magic, the same thing happened.
The spells would begin forming… Then instantly collapse. This place practically strangled magical energy before it could fully manifest.
Eventually, Leon sighed and dismissed all ten [Undead Mages] completely.
“No point wasting slots on summons that can’t fight,” he muttered.
For now, physical power was the only thing that truly mattered here.
And unfortunately… That was exactly why the next enemy they encountered became a problem.
