Chapter 307: Exiled Lands, Magic is Suppressed?
Without wasting any more time, Leon raised his staff.
Undead Summoning!
Dark magic circles instantly spread across the ground around him. One after another, his undead army emerged from the darkness.
Fifteen [Undead Skeletons] and ten [Undead Mages] appeared.
Twenty-five undead servants surrounded Leon completely afterward, each of them radiating immense pressure due to inheriting a massive percentage of Leon’s own combat power.
Even now, Leon still found it absurd. Each skeleton possessed over two million combat power.
An ordinary player would consider even one of them a terrifying monster as shown before.
Leon then carefully handed Celeste’s phoenix flame toward one of the undead skeletons.
The undead immediately grabbed the flame carefully with both hands.
“Protect it at all costs,” Leon ordered coldly. “Destroy anything that approaches.”
The skeleton nodded silently. Leon finally relaxed slightly afterward. Holding the flame himself constantly felt risky.
This way, several undead could focus entirely on protecting Celeste while he fought freely if necessary.
And right as Leon finally began walking forward through the wasteland—
Ding!
A new notification suddenly appeared before him.
[You have entered the “Exiled Lands.”]
[For those cast out from the Awakener Kingdom with no hope of return, only two paths remain: rise above every threat… or perish forgotten.]
[Though there seems to be something different about this place.]
“Oh well.”
Leon stepped forward and began traveling through the exiled lands, his undead army following closely behind him as they crossed the dead gray plains in complete silence.
The entire group moved quickly across the barren land.
The fifteen [Undead Skeletons] marched with rusted swords in hand while the ten [Undead Mages] followed slightly behind, their staffs glowing faintly with dark mana despite the strange atmosphere surrounding the area.
One of the skeletons carefully carried Celeste’s phoenix flame between its bony hands, protecting it as though it were the most valuable treasure in existence.
Leon himself stayed near the center of the group while observing his surroundings carefully.
The deeper he went into the [Exiled Lands], the stranger this place felt. At first glance, the area simply looked lifeless.
Gray grass covered the ground endlessly while dark mountains stretched far in the distance beneath a sky devoid of warmth or light.
Yet that wasn’t what bothered Leon the most. Something felt wrong here.
It was faint enough that most players probably wouldn’t even notice it, but Leon’s senses were far too sharp after everything he had gone through recently.
’What the hell is different?’
The air itself felt incomplete somehow. Almost hollow. As though something essential had been stripped away from the land entirely.
And then suddenly—
Fwoosh!
A dozen armored figures abruptly appeared before the group without warning.
They did not walk out from behind rocks or descend from the mountains.
They simply manifested directly in front of Leon as though they had always been there.
Their armor looked ancient and damaged, covered in cracks and rust while dark mist leaked from the gaps between the metal plates.
Each of them carried heavy swords and shields, and the aura they radiated immediately proved they were not weak.
Leon instantly used [Appraisal].
—
[Exiled Sentinel]
[Level: 85]
[Exclusive Talent: Exiled]
[Combat Power: 2,400,000]
[Details: Sentinels born from the despair of the Exiled Lands, eternally wandering while seeking to drag others into death alongside them.]
—
“Weak,” Leon muttered calmly after reading the panel.
Even though these monsters would terrify almost every level 75 player in existence, Leon didn’t feel threatened at all. Not with his current combat power.
Without hesitation, he lifted his staff forward.
Cataclysmic Fireball!
Flames erupted instantly at the tip of his [Destiny Staff], gathering together into an enormous sphere of destruction as heat exploded outward violently.
Normally, this spell alone would be enough to annihilate an entire battlefield.
But this time, the fire suddenly weakened.
Leon’s eyes narrowed immediately.
The giant fireball dimmed unexpectedly, losing a massive amount of power right before completion.
“What?”
It felt as though something invisible had forcefully restrained the mana flowing through the spell. Not canceled. Suppressed.
Fwoosh! BOOM!
Leon launched the spell anyway.
The weakened fireball exploded against the group of sentinels, instantly obliterating three of them in a storm of flames and molten armor. Yet only three.
Leon’s expression shifted slightly afterward. That attack should have erased the entire group effortlessly. Instead, it barely killed a quarter of them.
The remaining sentinels emerged from the flames damaged but still alive, continuing their charge toward him without hesitation.
“It absorbed part of my spirit…” Leon muttered quietly while stepping backward, his eyes sharpening instantly.
“Attack them.”
The moment the order left his mouth, the undead army moved.
The [Undead Skeletons] immediately rushed toward the remaining sentinels at full speed, their swords raised high while the [Undead Mages] lifted their staffs from behind to begin casting spells.
Dark mana gathered around the mages. Several fireballs began forming.
Then suddenly, the magic vanished. Every single spell collapsed instantly before completion.
The undead mages froze. Several of them tried casting again immediately. Once more, their spells disappeared before even forming properly.
Leon’s eyes widened slightly as realization finally struck him completely.
“I knew it.” He immediately looked around the wasteland again, “The magic here is restrained.”
That was what felt wrong about this place. Mana itself barely existed here. Or more accurately, something in the [Exiled Lands] actively suppressed magical energy.
The [Undead Mages] simply weren’t strong enough to force their magic into existence under these conditions.
Meanwhile, Leon himself possessed such absurd spirit and combat power that he could partially overcome the restriction. Though even then, his spells had clearly been massively weakened.
“So that’s why it’s called the [Magicless Core],” Leon muttered while watching the battle unfold before him.
For ordinary mages, this place would be a nightmare. A death sentence. Someone who relied entirely on spells would become almost powerless here.
“Luckily for me,” Leon grinned slightly, “I use both physical attacks and magic.”
That advantage suddenly became incredibly important. Because no matter the situation, Leon could always adapt.
If he faced enemies immune to magic, he could use physical combat.
If he faced enemies resistant to physical attacks, he could overwhelm them with spells.
A dual wielder truly had far fewer weaknesses than ordinary players.
