Chapter 172: Leon Rushes Forward, Pyra’s New Skill

Chapter 172: Chapter 172: Leon Rushes Forward, Pyra’s New Skill

Leon rushed forward at full speed through the massive chamber, his eyes locked firmly on the restrained figure at the far end of the temple.

His entire focus was directed toward the [Will of Nature].

His goal was to kill it, but if it didn’t work… he knew that [Celestial’s Might] would help.

’He’s restrained, with only his arms free,’ Leon thought calmly as his body moved like a blur across the stone floor. ’This is the easiest kind of enemy to defeat… as long as I don’t mess up.’

Even so, Leon knew better than to underestimate the creature.

Just because the [Will of Nature] was partially restrained didn’t mean it was helpless.

The moment Leon began closing the distance, hundreds of vines erupted from the ground all around him, each one twisting violently through the air as they attempted to block his path.

SLASH!

Leon swung his sword in a powerful arc, cutting straight through the first vine that lunged toward him.

The blade continued moving without stopping.

Another vine tried to strike him from the side.

SLASH!

It was cut apart instantly.

The vines were incredibly sharp and extremely dangerous, but Leon’s strength had already reached a level where even attacks like these couldn’t slow him down.

Every swing of his sword carried immense force behind it. None of the vines could withstand it.

Meanwhile, Celeste had her own problem to deal with.

Several of the vines had turned their attention toward her as well, rising from the floor and whipping through the air with terrifying speed.

“Pyra,” Celeste said quickly as she gripped her spear tightly, “let’s deal with them fast!”

“Kyu!”

Pyra responded immediately, flapping her small wings as flames ignited around her tiny body.

Celeste spun her spear in a defensive motion, striking several of the incoming vines and barely managing to deflect them away.

Her flames helped burn the tips of the vines, weakening them enough for her spear to push them aside.

But the attacks kept coming.

Celeste immediately began launching her abilities one after another.

Ember Ball!

A sphere of blazing fire shot forward and exploded against a vine that was about to strike her shoulder.

Flame Clone!

A duplicate made of fire appeared beside her, mimicking her movements as it swung a flaming spear at the approaching vines.

Celeste used every ability she had available.

But even with all of that… It still wasn’t enough.

SLASH!

One of the vines suddenly swung toward her from the side with incredible speed.

Celeste barely managed to react in time.

She leaned backward and dodged the attack by a hair’s breadth before jumping away to create some distance.

’Damn… this isn’t going to work,’ Celeste thought while catching her breath.

She knew her flames were strong enough to damage the vines, but there was a problem.

If the vines kept attacking like this, she would eventually run out of energy.

’I need a better way to defend myself…’

Just as she was thinking that—

“KYU!”

Pyra suddenly flapped her wings rapidly and shot upward into the air.

The small phoenix let out a powerful cry as flames gathered around her body.

Then, the little creature condensed the flames into a bright sphere before launching them downward toward Celeste.

“Huh?” Celeste blinked in confusion.

She had never seen Pyra do something like this before.

The little phoenix only had two known abilities: [Torrent of Flames] and [Flame Sense].

But what Pyra was doing now looked completely different.

The condensed flames struck the ground around Celeste and instantly spread outward.

Fwoosh!

A ring of fire erupted around her.

Then the flames rose upward, forming a protective barrier.

Flame Dome!

A dome of living fire surrounded Celeste completely.

The moment the vines tried to strike her again—

Fwoosh!

They were instantly scorched by the flames the moment they touched the barrier. None of them could get through.

Celeste’s eyes widened as she looked around at the fiery dome protecting her.

“Pyra…” she said excitedly, “you learned a new skill!”

“Kyu!”

Pyra chirped happily while flying above her.

Unlike players or natives, pets didn’t learn skills through books or scrolls.

Instead, they developed new abilities through experience, training, or specific situations. This made them incredibly versatile.

And Pyra was far from an ordinary pet. She was an ascendant-rank creature.

Even more impressive, Pyra was still only in her cub stage.

Which meant that she would become far stronger as she continued growing.

Pets evolved every ten levels. Pyra was currently level three.

That meant she only needed seven more levels before reaching her first evolution.

Once that happened, her strength would increase dramatically.

Still, the most important thing right now was that Celeste was safe.

Now that the flame dome protected her from the vines, she could finally take a moment to look toward Leon.

’I wish I could help him…’ Celeste thought quietly.

But she already knew the truth, ’I’d probably just get in his way.’

Using her flames directly on the [Will of Nature] would only burn the vines restraining him further, which could accidentally free him even more.

She had already made that mistake once. She wasn’t about to repeat it.

So instead, Celeste simply watched.

On the other side of the chamber—

Slash! Slash!

Leon continued advancing through the storm of vines.

Each step brought him closer to the restrained boss.

The vines were attacking him from every direction now, slamming into the floor, walls, and pillars as they attempted to stop him.

Leon moved with extreme precision.

He knew that even a single direct hit from one of those vines could easily kill him again.

He had already experienced how powerful they were.

And even though he technically had another [Resurrection Stone], Leon had no intention of wasting it here.

Vision Enhancement!

Leon activated his skill. Instantly, his vision sharpened.

Every movement around him became clearer.

And then—

Abyssal Slash!

Leon’s body suddenly dissolved into darkness. He vanished completely.

His shadow merged with the floor as he moved forward even faster than before.

“Where did you go, coward?” the [Will of Nature] roared as his vines slammed violently into the ground.

From the creature’s perspective, Leon had simply disappeared. But the boss wasn’t stupid.

“Alright…” the [Will of Nature] growled. “If you won’t come out… I’ll drag you out myself.”

Fwoosh! BAM!

Several vines stabbed deep into the ground before glowing faintly.

They began scanning the surroundings.

Then suddenly—

“FOUND YOU!” The [Will of Nature] laughed loudly.

A massive vine crashed down toward the spot where Leon’s shadow was moving.

But Leon wasn’t concerned. He simply emerged from the darkness.

SLASH!

The attacking vine was cut cleanly in half. Leon didn’t even slow down.

’Just a few more seconds…’ he thought as he continued rushing forward. ’Just a few more…’

Slash! Slash! Slash!

The vines became even more violent as he approached the boss.

They swung faster. Harder. More aggressively. But none of it mattered.

Leon cut through every single one.

“You’re lucky I’m like this…” the [Will of Nature] growled as his glowing vine-eyes flared with green light. “Because otherwise… I would have destroyed you.”

“Sure thing,” Leon’s expression didn’t change at all.

For a brief moment, he even glanced backward to check on Celeste.

He immediately noticed the dome of flames surrounding her.

’I guess she found a way to defend herself,’ Leon thought with a small grin, ’Good.’

Then he turned back. With one final burst of speed, Leon dashed forward.

And in the next instant, he arrived almost directly in front of the [Will of Nature].

Leon lifted his sword.

“FOOL!” the [Will of Nature] roared.

This time, the boss didn’t attack. Instead, every vine around him rushed inward.

They twisted together, forming a massive barrier that surrounded his body completely.

The wall of vines looked incredibly thick and durable.

Leon could instantly tell that the defense was extremely strong.

But unfortunately for the [Will of Nature]… Leon had something new, an ability that he just recently learned.

He slowly raised his sword, and crimson energy began to surge around the blade.

The aura grew stronger. Then Leon unleashed his skill.

CRIMSON DANCE!
