Chapter 159: Chapter 159: Teleportation Works on Others, Start of the Divine Academy’s Event
As long as someone held on to Leon, they would also teleport with the [World Map].
It was one of the main problems he had thought about when acquiring this item, especially since he would travel with Emilia.
But now that he had confirmed the mechanic, that concern was gone.
The [World Map] could transport others with him.
Still, one question remained.
’I should test the limit later’, Leon thought calmly. ’There might be a maximum number of people I can teleport.’
If it worked with several players at once, the advantage would be enormous.
For now though, that experiment could wait.
“Alright,” Leon said while stretching slightly and glancing toward the large streets of the city. “Let’s go.”
Celeste nodded, though her expression still carried a trace of disbelief from what had just happened.
“So… you can teleport too?” she asked.
Leon shrugged casually.
“Only to places I’ve already visited,” he explained. “But it still makes traveling a lot easier.”
Celeste looked around the massive city and then back at Leon, “Wow…”
Even though both of them had completed the journey through the [Lower Domain], the difference between them felt obvious to her.
Leon seemed to have gained far more rewards and advantages during that time.
Celeste sighed slightly.
“Your talent is honestly ridiculous,” she said with a faint smile. “If you already gained that much in the [Lower Domain], then I wonder how much stronger you’ll become here.”
Leon didn’t reply immediately.
Celeste had no idea that this wasn’t his first time reaching this stage.
The knowledge from his previous life gave him an advantage that no one else possessed.
But that was something he never planned to reveal. At least not now.
’What would happen if they knew?’ Leon thought quietly.
If Emilia or Celeste discovered that he already knew parts of the future… or worse, that they had died in his previous life, their reactions could easily become complicated.
There were too many unpredictable outcomes.
So Leon simply kept those memories to himself.
After that short conversation, Leon and Celeste walked through the large gates and entered [Divine Academy City] once more.
The atmosphere inside the city had changed drastically compared to earlier.
The streets were now packed with players. Tens of thousands of them.
Everywhere Leon looked, there were groups of people from different races and different worlds.
Their levels ranged between Level 50 and Level 75 though, not any more.
And every single one of them seemed to be waiting for the same thing: the upcoming event.
Ding!
A notification appeared in the air.
[There are only 15 minutes left before the next “event”.]
Leon glanced at the panel and nodded slightly.
“I guess we can relax for now,” he said. “Then we’ll see what happens.”
Even Leon didn’t know the exact details of this event.
All he knew for sure was that power would determine everything.
While they waited, Leon took the opportunity to observe the surrounding players more carefully.
There were truly many of them.
The sheer number of participants made the city feel almost like a massive battlefield waiting to explode.
Leon assumed the event was simply the entrance selection exam for the academy.
As the minutes passed, the tension across the entire city gradually increased.
Players began preparing their equipment. Some sharpened weapons.
Others discussed strategies with teammates.
Eventually, the final countdown appeared.
Ding!
[There are only 60 seconds left before the “event”.]
Another notification followed immediately.
[Do you wish to participate?]
[Yes] [Can’t refuse]
Leon stared at the panel for a moment.
“…Hm.”
He was forced to accept either way, so he simply sighed, and pressed on [Can’t refuse].
Celeste selected [Yes] without hesitation, just like the majority of players around them.
She glanced around uneasily.
“I have a bad feeling about this,” she admitted quietly. “Something about this… doesn’t feel right.”
Fwoosh!
At that moment, a burst of flame appeared near her chest.
Pyra emerged once again, the small phoenix flying gently around Celeste’s shoulders.
“Kyu!”
Even the tiny creature seemed slightly alert, as if it sensed the rising tension.
And then—
Ding!
[The “Divine Academy” event will now begin.]
[Good luck.]
In an instant, every player who had accepted the event began to glow.
Golden particles appeared around their bodies. Leon and Celeste were no exception.
Their figures slowly dissolved into light as space around them distorted.
Pyra remained beside Celeste, naturally included in the teleportation because of their bond.
The world blurred. Then vanished.
And a few seconds later—
Fwoosh!
Leon’s vision returned.
He found himself standing in the middle of a massive open landscape.
Endless plains stretched toward the horizon in every direction, covered with tall grass and scattered stone formations.
And most importantly… Thousands of players had appeared all around the area.
Ding!
A notification appeared immediately.
[You have entered the “Divine Academy’s Domain”]
Leon’s lips curved into a faint smile.
So the event took place in a completely separate domain.
Then more panels began appearing in the sky.
Golden letters formed slowly above the participants.
[Event: Divine Academy Entrance Examination]
[Difficulty: Nightmare.]
“Damn,” Leon muttered.
Across nearly sixty thousand participants, only one hundred would succeed.
The difficulty being labeled Nightmare actually made perfect sense.
All the players nearby instinctively raised their heads to read the information.
Leon and Celeste did the same. The next message appeared.
[There are currently 57,830 players attempting the examination.]
The number was massive. But Leon wasn’t surprised after seeing how many people were in the city.
The [Divine Academy] was considered one of the most prestigious organizations across the [Higher Domains].
Naturally, countless players wanted to enter it.
[Players will compete in this domain, attempting to eliminate each other until only 100 remain.]
[Divine Academy will allow up to 100 players to enroll each event.]
[Be among the final survivors.]
Leon slowly looked around. Surprisingly, many players didn’t react strongly.
That suggested one thing: it wasn’t their first time participating.
The event happened every two weeks, meaning the academy could accept 200 players per month.
Compared to nearly sixty thousand applicants… The odds were terrifying.
[Only players from Level 50 to Level 75 are allowed to participate.]
That explained why Leon hadn’t seen anyone above Level 75 inside the city earlier.
The academy restricted the examination to this range.
[Each player you eliminate will grant one point.]
[The top 10 players with the highest score will receive additional rewards.]
[Do note that dying will only revive you in “Divine Academy City”]
Losing still meant failure and having to wait though.
And finally—
[You have 60 seconds before the event begins.]
Celeste stepped closer to him.
“What should we do?” she asked. “I think we’re strong enough.”
“Probably,” he admitted, “But the Level 75 players might still be dangerous. And there’s always a chance groups will form.”
Even if Leon and Celeste were individually among the stronger competitors, numbers could still create problems.
The spawn area was already crowded with players.
Staying here would only increase the risk.
“Let’s move,” Leon said.
Without waiting, the two of them began running away from the center of the spawn zone.
Many other players had the exact same idea.
Within seconds, hundreds of groups were already spreading across the plains.
Leon glanced toward the distant horizon.
’Alright’, he thought calmly, ’Let’s see what you’ve got… [Divine Academy].’
He was certain the academy’s chairman and teachers were watching this entire event from somewhere.
But that didn’t matter. Because eventually… they would fall by his hands.
For Leon, the objective was simple: win, obtain the rewards and grow stronger.
And once the countdown reached zero…
Ding!
[The “Divine Academy” examination event now officially begins.]
[Good luck.]
