Chapter 158: The Will of Nature’s Attack Zone, Divine Academy Students
Chapter 158: Chapter 158: The Will of Nature’s Attack Zone, Divine Academy Students
The ancient gate standing in the middle of the [Will of Nature]’s attack zone was protected extremely well.
Massive vines covered the ground in every direction, twisting around each other like a giant living barrier.
Some of them were thick like tree trunks, while others were thinner but moved slowly across the soil as if they were constantly searching for prey.
Anyone looking at the area from afar could immediately tell that entering it was dangerous.
Yet strangely enough, Leon didn’t feel that much pressure coming from the place.
Normally, areas guarded by something like this would radiate some sort of presence or killing intent, but the gate itself simply stood there quietly.
It looked ancient, with worn stone and strange carvings covering its surface, but there was no clear sign of danger other than the countless vines surrounding it.
Because of that, Leon’s curiosity began to grow.
After observing the zone for a moment, he decided to test something.
He stepped forward and slowly approached the invisible veil that separated the normal plains from the attack zone.
Once he reached it, Leon didn’t hesitate much longer and took a few more steps, passing straight through it.
Celeste blinked when she saw what he was doing.
“Are you trying to see if the [Plant King Flower] works?” she guessed while watching him carefully. “I can try if you want. Even if I die, I’ll just revive later.”
Leon turned his head slightly and grinned, “…Nah, it’s fine.”
The moment his body completely crossed the invisible barrier—
Fwoosh!
A notification appeared before him.
Ding!
[You have entered the “Will of Nature’s” attack zone.]
Leon instinctively prepared himself.
He expected the vines around him to suddenly move and attack him from every direction.
However… Nothing happened.
The vines remained completely still. They didn’t react.
It was as if Leon didn’t exist at all.
He slowly turned his head and carefully observed the surrounding vines, trying to see if any of them would twitch or react to his presence.
But they remained silent.
Seeing that Leon was perfectly fine, Celeste decided to test it as well.
She stepped forward and crossed through the invisible veil just like he did.
Fwoosh!
She also received the same warning notification. Yet just like Leon, the vines ignored her completely.
That confirmed it: the [Plant King Flower] truly worked.
With the item equipped, the vines controlled by the [Will of Nature] would not attack them.
This meant that Leon and Celeste could freely enter the zone and walk all the way to the ancient gate if they wanted to.
But…
“We’ll check it after the event,” he said calmly, “If we start exploring this now, we might miss it.”
Celeste immediately understood what he meant. She nodded without arguing.
The two of them then turned around and casually walked back toward the invisible veil.
Leaving the zone was just as easy as entering it.
The moment they stepped outside, the vines returned to their silent state as if nothing had happened.
However, the two of them hadn’t been alone when they tested the area.
Several nearby players had been watching everything.
One of them suddenly spoke in shock.
“Holy shit, did you see that?”
Another player stared toward the attack zone with wide eyes.
“Wait… those two just walked inside and didn’t get killed. Did something change?”
Most players in the area already knew about the attack zone.
Earlier, anyone who tried to enter it was attacked immediately and killed within seconds.
But Leon and Celeste had walked inside like it was nothing.
Among the watching players was a tall young man wearing the uniform of the [Divine Academy].
He adjusted his glasses calmly while observing the scene.
His ID read [MaxCharisma].
At around Level 75, he was considered one of the strongest students currently present from the academy.
“Inform the chairman immediately,” he said while keeping his gaze on the attack zone. “He said he wanted information about the [Will of Nature].”
Several nearby academy students nodded.
However, a smaller goblin-race player near them raised his hand nervously.
“But… how do we know it’s safe now?” he asked cautiously.
MaxCharisma slowly turned his head toward him. Then he smiled.
“There’s only one way to find out.”
Before the goblin could react, MaxCharisma grabbed him. And then he threw him forward.
Fwoosh!
The goblin player flew through the air and crossed the invisible veil.
For a brief moment, everything was quiet.
Then—
“ARGGHHH?!”
The vines suddenly exploded into motion.
Hundreds of them shot out from the ground and wrapped around the goblin’s body from every direction.
His arms were pinned instantly. His legs twisted as the vines tightened around him.
Within only a few seconds, the vines dragged his struggling body into the soil.
And just like that, he disappeared completely.
MaxCharisma watched the scene calmly.
“Seems like it may be harder than expected,” he said while adjusting his glasses again.
He then turned toward the other academy students.
“Still, inform the chairman and the teachers. For the glory of the [God of War] and the [God of Magic], we must prepare much more.”
“Yes!” the surrounding students answered without hesitation.
MaxCharisma smiled slightly, “Controlling the [Will of Nature] will be extremely beneficial.”
Then his gaze shifted toward Leon and Celeste in the distance.
“But for now…” He pointed toward them, “Make sure you keep an eye on those two.”
If someone saw the group from afar, their behavior would almost resemble a cult rather than a group of normal academy students.
Meanwhile, Celeste hadn’t noticed them at all. To her, they were simply part of the many players scattered around the plains.
Leon, however, briefly glanced in their direction.
’Got a bad feeling about those guys.’
They were wearing Divine Academy robes, which meant they were probably involved in something important.
Leon decided to remember their faces for later.
After that, he turned his attention back to the notifications appearing around him.
Because after nearly forty minutes of hunting monsters—
Ding!
[Congratulations, you have leveled up to Level 54 + Level 55 + Level 56!]
[Due to “Heaven’s Blessing”, you have gained 1,200 points in all attributes and 1,200 free points to distribute.]
Leon nodded with satisfaction.
The monsters in the Vine Plains were mostly above level sixty, which meant the experience they provided was extremely valuable.
Still, he knew that leveling would become slower from now on.
Each new level would take more time than before. Leon then opened his [Storage Space].
Most of it was filled with random equipment that had dropped from the monsters.
He had already consumed many of the essences.
Nom! Ding!
[+876 Constitution, +563 Agility, +472 Strength]
Unfortunately, the monsters in this area didn’t seem to possess any Spirit, so none of the essences increased that attribute.
Leon had also given around a quarter of the essences to Celeste so she could improve her own stats.
Even though her Phoenix Ember provided bonuses when killing enemies, extra attributes were always useful.
Pyra hadn’t come out again either, but that wasn’t really a problem.
The monsters in the area weren’t strong enough to threaten them anyway.
Celeste eventually reached Level 58, gaining several additional attribute points.
Meanwhile, Leon began fusing the equipment in his inventory.
Some enhancements failed. Others succeeded.
Eventually, he managed to create one fully upgraded piece.
“Here,” Leon said while tossing the armor toward Celeste.
[Vine Armor +4 (Uncommon): +3,500 Defense, +2,800 Constitution, +1,700 Agility. Has the ability to harm opponents on contact.]
Celeste caught it and smiled brightly.
“Thanks,” she said while equipping it over her clothes. “I hope it doesn’t make me look too bad.”
Leon shrugged.
“Looks don’t matter,” he replied. “But you still look cute regardless, so it’s fine.”
Celeste’s face turned slightly red at the compliment.
“…Thanks,” she said quietly. “Though I hope I don’t burn it.”
Because of the constant flames surrounding her body, there was always a chance plant-based armor could catch fire.
Thankfully, the upgraded armor seemed durable enough to handle it.
“We’ll find you something better soon anyway,” Leon said with a grin. “For now, this works.”
Afterward, Leon placed the remaining equipment on sale in the [Trading House] for competitive prices before closing the panel.
“Alright,” he said while stretching slightly. “Time to head back to [Divine Academy City].”
He opened his [World Map], and the massive map appeared in front of him.
The [Vine Plains] stretched across a huge area, but Leon wasn’t interested in exploring further right now.
Instead, he scrolled across the map until he located [Divine Academy City].
Above the city icon was a skull symbol with a timer.
[Event: 17:38 minutes.]
Leon raised his eyebrows.
’Oh… the World Map shows the event timer too.’
He suspected the map probably had many other features he hadn’t discovered yet.
But for now, he had something else he wanted to try.
“Celeste,” Leon said, “I want to test something.”
“Hm?” Celeste tilted her head slightly.
If Leon used the [World Map] to teleport, Celeste would remain here and be forced to run to the city.
So instead…
“Hold my hand for a few seconds. If you see me disappear, just head to [Divine Academy City] and I’ll meet you there.”
Celeste looked confused, but she still nodded.
She slowly extended her hand and grabbed Leon’s.
It was the first time she had done something like this, but she trusted that he knew what he was doing.
Leon then tapped the [Divine Academy City] icon.
Ding!
[Do you wish to teleport to “Divine Academy City”?]
“Yes,” Leon confirmed.
And the moment he did, both of their visions began to blur.
Celeste gasped in shock.
“WHAT?!”
The surroundings twisted as space itself shifted around them.
But she refused to let go of Leon’s hand.
After a few seconds—
Fwoosh!
The two of them suddenly appeared outside the massive gates of Divine Academy City.
Celeste blinked in disbelief as she looked around.
Leon simply grinned.
“I guess I can teleport others too,” he said while glancing at her, “Good to know.”
