Chapter 141: Entering the Church of Light, The God of Light’s Statue

Chapter 141: Chapter 141: Entering the Church of Light, The God of Light’s Statue

Leon opened his status panel the moment the notifications settled and focused on the number that truly mattered.

[Eternal Coins: 328,266]

For a second, he simply stared at it.

“Damn.”

The passive ability from his [Slayer II] title had worked exactly as described.

Taking five percent of the Eternal Coins from every player he killed did not seem that impressive at first glance, but when those kills numbered in the hundreds, the results became absurd.

He exhaled slowly.

’This thing really rewards mass slaughter,’ he thought.

It was almost as if the system itself encouraged him to keep going.

The more he killed, the more he gained. Everything scaled with blood.

Ding!

[Your “Slaughter Meter” has increased by 402.]

Leon was not surprised.

The Church of Light had slightly more members present than the Shadow Assassin Guild.

The priests had gathered in large numbers around their archbishop, confident in his protection.

That confidence had cost them their lives.

Still, Leon did not dwell on it. Instead, a small smile formed on his lips.

He had actually done it.

The two largest and most dangerous organizations in the [Lower Domain] were gone.

In his previous life, both factions had grown into monsters.

And now, before they could even take their first real step into greatness, Leon had cut them down.

Of course, there were still far greater forces waiting in the [Higher Domain], and above even that, the terrifying [Eternal Domain] where true monsters walked.

But for now, he allowed himself a moment of satisfaction.

Ding!

[Your “Slayer II” title has been upgraded to “Slayer III” as you have reached 500 kills.]

“Nice.”

Leon immediately opened the updated description.

Most of it remained the same, but Passive #1 had changed.

[Passive #1: You will now be able to take three of the items from a player’s storage space.]

He nodded thoughtfully. That was a clear improvement.

In small-scale fights, that would be extremely useful.

If he eliminated a powerful player with rare equipment or valuable consumables, he could strip them of multiple items instantly.

However, in situations like today where he had killed hundreds at once, the limitation of his own storage space became the problem.

Even with three items per player, he simply could not grab everything before his inventory filled up.

’What would really be useful,’ he thought, ’is a passive that lets me choose specific items from their storage without relying on random selection.’

He imagined scrolling through a fallen enemy’s entire inventory and selecting exactly what he wanted.

That would be far more efficient than hoping the system handed him something valuable.

Still, Leon was confident.

As the [Slayer] title continued to evolve, more powerful abilities would likely unlock.

The system rewarded extremes, and he had clearly committed to this path at this point.

Without wasting time, he opened his [Storage Space].

“Damn.”

The vast majority of the items were underwhelming.

As expected from priests, most of the equipment consisted of scepters with mediocre magic bonuses, light-themed robes with average defensive stats, and basic materials.

Leon scrolled through the pile, prepared to dump almost everything into the [Trading House].

But then he paused as one item stood out: [Sub-Talent Scroll: Light Affinity (C-Level)]

His eyebrows rose.

“Wow, something actually decent.”

Out of 781 total kills so far, this was the first genuinely useful drop he had received from another player.

A C-Level sub-talent was not extraordinary, but it was far from trash.

Leon did not hesitate. He took the scroll in his hand and poured mana into it.

Fwoosh!

The scroll glowed brightly before dissolving into particles of light that flowed directly into his body.

Ding!

[Congratulations, you have learned the C-Level Sub-Talent: “Light Affinity”.]

“Good.”

Now he possessed both a darkness-related sub-talent and a light-related one.

In most cases, these two forces clashed violently, creating weaknesses if someone specialized in only one side.

But Leon was different.

By holding both, he eliminated the natural disadvantage.

He checked the description.

[Light Affinity (C-Level): Divine light emanates from you and flows through your veins. Light-based attacks deal much less damage to you, and you may learn skills related to it.]

It was straightforward, exactly what one would expect from a C-Level talent.

The damage reduction alone was valuable.

Facing light-aligned enemies would now be significantly easier.

Combined with his existing darkness abilities, he had effectively balanced two opposing elements within himself.

If the [God of Light] knew that Leon had just absorbed a fragment of light power by slaughtering his followers, he would likely be furious.

The rest of the loot, however, had no reason to stay with him.

Leon quickly transferred nearly everything into the [Trading House].

He listed them all at competitive prices to ensure quick sales.

A few minutes later—

Ding!

[All your items have been sold for 75,380 Eternal Coins!]

Leon reopened his balance.

[Eternal Coins: 403,646]

He let out a low whistle.

“Holy hell. I’m rich.”

He had originally set out to eliminate the Church of Light and the Shadow Assassin Guild purely to prevent their future rise.

The massive coin gain was simply an unexpected bonus.

With over four hundred thousand Eternal Coins at his disposal, his future growth would accelerate dramatically.

“Well,” he said calmly, closing the panels, “I’m done here.”

There was no need to use [Domain Travel] anymore.

He could simply hunt monsters in the [Level 50 Zone] until the system allowed him to proceed to his third assessment.

However, as he turned his gaze toward the stronghold of the Church of Light, a thought crossed his mind.

The Shadow Assassin Guild had nothing interesting left.

Their base was destroyed, and their operations had been purely practical.

But this place was different.

These people worshipped the God of Light with fanatic devotion.

’There might be something inside,’ Leon thought.

If his earlier [Oblivion Meteor] had destroyed the structure, he would not have cared.

But the divine protection had nullified that attack, leaving the building intact.

Leon walked through the main gate of the stronghold without resistance.

And as Leon looked up, he could see the [Church of Light] in the middle, with the giant glowing orb symbol radiating golden light at the top.

The size of a stronghold depended entirely on the level as well as its usage.

For example, the [Elven Stronghold] though it was only level 1 was still larger than the [Church of Light]’s.

After a few minutes of walking through empty streets, Leon reached the entrance.

He stepped inside.

Ding!

[Light-related sub-talent detected. You are allowed to enter.]

“Oh wow.”

If he had not learned [Light Affinity] moments ago, he would have been barred from entry.

The interior of the church was surprisingly ordinary.

Leon walked forward slowly. But at the very end of the hall stood a massive statue.

It was roughly five meters tall, carved from pale stone veined with glowing cracks that emitted faint light.

The figure’s expression serene yet commanding. The eyes shimmered with divine light as well.

And if Leon ahd to guess…

Appraisal!

[Statue of God of Light]

“Damn…”

It seems that this was the place where [LightMessenger] and the other priests worshipped… that thing.

The statue did emanate some kind of aura, Leon couldn’t deny it but… this wasn’t a god.

A real god would feel far more imposing after all.

Still, Leon didn’t deny that the [Church of Light] was the real deal as they had indeed become servants of the [God of Light] in his past life.

Leon stared at it briefly, then sighed and turned around.

There was nothing else to gain here. He began walking toward the exit.

But right as he was about to leave…

“What you did is futile, Celestial.”

The voice was deep and imposing, echoing through the empty church.

Leon froze and turned back.

And now, though he didn’t it move, the statue’s head was now tilted downward, looking directly at him.

Its stone lips were curved into an impossiblty wide smile.

A chill ran through the room.

Leon did not move. He observed the statue carefully, waiting for another reaction.

He waited for around a minute, but the statue did not move again.

It simply stared.

“Whatever,” Leon muttered under his breath.

He walked out of the church without looking back.

Today, he had destroyed the [Church of Light].

But in the future, he would face the [God of Light] directly.

And when that day came, Leon would not hesitate.
