Chapter 112: False Servant, Destroying the Items

Chapter 112: Chapter 112: False Servant, Destroying the Items

The [God of Magic’s Disciple] was, contrary to what most people would assume at first glance, not nearly as terrifying as a true servant of a god.

His title sounded impressive. His presence was heavy. His mana was dense and oppressive.

Any normal player in the [Lower Domain] would tremble the moment they saw his panel.

But Leon was not a normal player. He had seen real servants before.

He had fought them. He had died because of them.

And compared to those beings, this so called “disciple” was lacking something fundamental.

The reason was simple: he was not truly linked to the [God of Magic].

That was precisely why he was called a “disciple” instead of a “servant.” The distinction was not just a matter of words.

In this world, titles carried meaning. A servant was bound. A servant was chosen. A servant was infused directly with divine authority.

A disciple, on the other hand, was merely someone who had received a fragment.

The only thing the god had done was grant him a fraction of his power.

It was a blessing, but a shallow one. It was nowhere near enough to allow him to cast a [Forbidden Spell], which was the true symbol of divine endorsement.

Leon knew very well that if someone genuinely submitted to a god, the power they would gain would be far greater than what stood before him now.

The increase would not be incremental. It would be overwhelming.

Their body would be remade. Their mana would be transformed. Their very existence would shift to align with the god’s will.

In comparison, this disciple had not even received one percent of what true servants possessed.

And yet, even that tiny fraction had been enough to elevate him to a level where almost no player in the [Lower Domain] could stand against him.

His combat power was high. His spirit output was monstrous. His constitution had clearly been reinforced beyond what his frame should allow.

Basically, he was a fake servant. But he was a fake strong enough to pass as real at this stage of the game.

Leon narrowed his eyes as he observed the glowing figure on the altar.

One had to wonder why the [God of Magic] would even bother doing something like this.

Gods did not act randomly. They were patient and calculating.

They planted seeds centuries in advance if necessary. There had to be a reason.

And if there was a reason, then it was almost certainly tied to the [Secret Realm] hidden behind that massive gate.

The only way to uncover the truth was to defeat this disciple and move forward.

Gods were extremely selective with their servants. They did not hand out power to just anyone.

They chose individuals whose bodies could withstand divine mana, whose talents aligned perfectly with their own authority, and whose loyalty could be guaranteed.

This man had not been selected properly. He had been empowered partially.

Which meant he was either a test, a placeholder, or bait.

“The [God of Magic] trusted me…” the disciple whispered, his glowing eyes locking onto Leon and Emilia. His voice echoed strangely across the chamber. “I will annihilate you…”

He lifted his staff slowly, crimson crystal blazing with unstable mana as he prepared to cast another spell.

But before he could finish chanting, Emilia moved.

Silk Bind!

From the tip of her scepter, countless threads of shining energy erupted forward, spreading through the air.

They twisted and coiled with precision before wrapping tightly around the disciple’s arms, torso, and staff.

The binding was instant.

Because he was a mage and not a close combat fighter, and because he had been focused entirely on gathering mana, he had no time to react.

The glowing figure struggled, but the silk tightened further.

“Got him,” Emilia said with a confident grin as holy energy began gathering at the tip of her scepter. “You were right.”

Even with the slight enhancement granted by the [God of Magic], the disciple’s spirit was still below Emilia’s terrifying output.

His overall combat power might have been higher on paper, but numbers alone did not determine victory.

Spirit control, efficiency, and elemental advantage mattered far more in a battle between mages.

And in that regard, Emilia was superior.

Divine Beam!

The chamber was flooded with brilliant light.

A concentrated pillar of holy energy erupted forward and engulfed the bound disciple completely.

The beam struck him head on and continued pouring into his body without interruption.

Holy power scorched his robes. The crimson crystal on his staff flickered violently as if resisting purification.

The explosion of light illuminated every rune carved into the walls.

For several seconds, the beam did not waver. Then it finally faded.

And… the disciple was still standing.

His robe was torn in several places. Burn marks covered his chest.

Cracks had formed along his staff. His breathing was uneven. But he was alive.

“Damn,” Leon muttered. “I did not expect that.”

It seemed that even the tiny blessing he had received had dramatically reinforced his durability.

His constitution was far beyond what a normal mage should possess.

“I shall not fall…” the disciple whispered, voice trembling but unwavering.

Leon did not give him the opportunity to recover.

Powerful Fireball!

A massive sphere of compressed flame formed instantly and shot forward, exploding against the disciple’s chest.

Storm of Lightning!

Bolts of electricity descended from above, striking his body repeatedly and sending arcs of current across the chamber floor.

Blood Beam!

A crimson ray pierced through the air, drilling into the disciple’s torso and forcing him backward despite the bindings.

Ice Spikes!

The ground beneath the altar cracked and erupted upward, jagged spears of ice piercing into his legs and sides.

Each spell landed cleanly. Each impact tore away more of his health.

“I… shall…” His voice weakened with every second, yet the devotion in his glowing eyes never dimmed.

Leon watched him carefully.

When people submitted to a god, their loyalty did not simply increase. It reached its absolute maximum.

Fear, doubt and even self preservation were erased. They would gladly throw away their lives if ordered.

That was why submitting to a god was so dangerous.

That is what would have happened to Leon if he had accepted the [God of Ascension]’s blessing during the first assessment.

His growth would have been explosive. He might have reached the [Eternal Domain] almost instantly too.

But his freedom would have been gone. His fate would have been sealed.

He would have become exactly like the figure standing before him now.

Leon tightened his grip on his staff. That would never happen.

Not to him, Emilia or anyone who stood beside him.

He would grow strong enough that even the gods would tremble before him.

For nearly a full minute, Leon and Emilia continued their assault without pause.

Spell after spell rained down on the disciple. The altar beneath him cracked. The runes on the walls flickered.

And finally, his voice faded completely.

“I…”

The glow in his eyes vanished. His body went limp.

The silk threads dissolved as his corpse collapsed onto the chamber floor.

Silence returned.

Ding!

[You have killed “God of Magic’s Disciple (Zone Boss)” and gained 164,000 experience points.]

[100% Drop Rate has triggered…]

Ding.

[Congratulations, you have leveled up to Level 35 + Level 36.]

[Due to “Heaven’s Blessing”, you have gained 300 points in all attributes and 300 free points to distribute.]

“Nice,” Leon said quietly.

Two more levels. They were climbing steadily toward level 50, and the gap between them and ordinary players continued to widen.

Fighting enemies far above their level had accelerated their growth immensely.

Leon opened his [Storage Space] immediately. The loot appeared one by one.

[Magic Disciple’s Essence: Consuming will increase Spirit by 100.]

[Magic Disciple Staff (Legendary): +3,000 Spirit. Requirement: Submit to the “God of Magic”]

[Sub-Talent Scroll: Mega Spirit Enhancement (A-Level)]

[Magic Disciple Robe (Legendary): +5,000 Defense, +2,500 Constitution, +1,300 Spirit. Requirement: Submit to the “God of Magic”]

[Skill Book: Crystal Explosion (Mythical). Requirement: Submit to the “God of Magic”]

Leon stared at the items. Stat wise, they were excellent.

The robe alone provided massive defense and constitution.

The staff offered pure spirit amplification. The skill book contained a mythical tier spell that he had just witnessed.

But each item had the same requirement: Submit to the “God of Magic.”

Leon’s expression hardened.

Without hesitation, he removed the staff, robe, and skill book from his storage and threw them onto the ground in front of him.

Emilia looked at him but said nothing.

Powerful Fireball!

The flames engulfed the three items instantly.

The legendary items resisted for a brief second before cracking and melting under sustained magical pressure.

The skill book burned last, its pages turning to ash.

“I do not need this.”

He despised the gods more than anything. Even if he kept those items, he would never use them.

Selling them would only tempt someone else to submit, creating another fanatic servant.

Destroying them was wasteful. But it was correct.

Leon consumed the [Magic Disciple’s Essence] immediately.

[+100 Spirit.]

A surge of mana flowed through his body. Then his gaze shifted.

The massive gate at the back of the chamber seemed to pulse faintly.

Its surface was covered in ancient carvings and layered sigils.

But the moment Leon took a step toward it, something unexpected happened.

Fwoosh!

Without his command, the [Secret Realm Token] flew out of his [Storage Space] and hovered before the gate, spinning slowly in the air.

Ding!

[Do you wish to use the “Secret Realm Token” to open the “Trace of Magic Chamber”?]

[Yes] [Proceed]

[Warning: It is extremely dangerous, and is not advised to enter this place.]

[Please decide within 60 seconds.]

Leon exhaled slowly as he read the panel.

“Well,” he said quietly, eyes fixed on the gate, “I don’t really have a choice now, do I.”

But before that, he gazed at the sub-talent scroll, and a huge smile appeared on Leon’s face.
