Chapter 31: Tower Master.

KNOCK!!KNOCK!!KNOCK!!

"Tower Master, can I come inside?" Valera asked, her voice filled with concern.

No reply came for a couple more seconds, but then a soothing feminine voice echoed through her ears.

"Come inside, Valera."

She didn’t waste any more time, simply pushed the door open and stepped through it.

When she entered the chamber, it was broad; bookshelves containing various magic books were placed next to the walls.

A floor-to-ceiling mirror was at the front wall; beyond it lay an entirely different landscape. Snowflakes fell gently over a magnificent mountain, even though the window should have been reflecting the forest.

An amused smile appeared on Valera’s face; she crossed her arms and asked. "Today you want to surround yourself with mountains, Tower Master?"

The woman was sitting on a chair that was facing towards the opposite wall. Only her beautiful black hair was visible to her.

Her mana was wrapped around the chair’s legs, which rotated it 360 degrees; now both of them were facing each other.

The woman had chiselled features that gave her a striking beauty. Her black eyes were calm yet imposing. She wore a robe adorned with golden engravings, while elegant silver linings ran along its edges. A majestic phoenix was embroidered across the front of the robe, and just beneath it was written ’Tower Master’.

She puffed her cheeks, crossed her arms, and looked at tonnes of documents kept on the table. "Look at these!! I have to do all of this; that’s why I had to create a peaceful environment for myself."

"But you ruined it all, old hag," she said.

Valera covered her mouth and gently let a chuckle resonate through her mouth. "But the purpose for which I came here was worth disturbing your peace, Tower Master."

The woman tilted her head once and slightly stroked her chin in confusion. "What is it about?"

Valera’s expression darkened; she leant forward once. "A new summoner joined our tower." Her tone suddenly turned serious.

Before she could continue, the Tower Master cut in between. "What’s so big of a deal in this? Tons of people join our tower."

"He has the potential of Emperor-Tier."

The moment those words echoed through her ears, she leant forward, rested her elbows on the table, cupped her hands and gave support to her chin. "Continue."

"He’s a young boy named Emil. Eventually he summons some creatures which I’ve never seen before."

"His summon didn’t seem that powerful but still awakened as a Mid-Tier. But for the time being, he doesn’t know about his potential because I never mentioned that to him."

"Ages ago, someone of such calibre awakened, and we all know what happened. The Frozen Peak Tower of the City Everfrost failed to subdue the monster which they gave shelter to, and in the end we summoners were the first ones to take a backlash from that incident."

"Because of that incident, our trade, our wealth, and even the future of our youth... we lost everything."

Silence fell over the chamber; no one dared to say anything because both of them knew what could happen if everything went wrong once again.

"Where’s he right now?" She asked.

"He was in the Alchemist’s Chamber before. I haven’t heard from him since then, but most probably he’s resting in the male dormitory."

The Tower Master raised a brow at the confidence in her voice. "How are you so sure?"

A small laugh left Valera before she continued. "He’s a hardworking lad, but even his body needs rest."

The woman didn’t say anything for a while but then sighed lightly before continuing.

"But as summoners, we can’t destroy or subdue a new summoner who doesn’t even know he’s of that calibre."

"He’s yet to attain the peak. For now we can try to keep an eye on him, track all of his motives so that we can figure out if he’s on our side... or..." She didn’t finish her sentence, but Valera already knew what she wanted to say.

Valera nodded once, crossed her arms as she tried to lighten up the mood. "Valexeria, don’t stress over all of this. The documents can be handled, and Emil can be dealt with. Just focus on your own well-being. You’ve been forcing a fake smile far more often than before."

Valexeria’s eyes widened because Valera only said her name when she tried to show some affection to her.

Her expression softened, gaze fixed at the table; a tired smile was on her face. "Yeah, I’ll do that." She muttered.

Valera turned towards the door and started walking before she stepped through it. She looked at Valexeria once and said. "I just noticed that your food’s kept on the couch. Eat it before it spoils." With those words, she shut the door once again.

She returned to the first chamber, where the mana sphere was located. As she walked, only one thought occupied her mind. ’The Tower is unusually quiet today.’

Emil grabbed his shoulder firmly and said. "You don’t have to be so formal in front of me."

A panel on which the description regarding Aquila was written hovered in his vision.

Emil read through it all precisely, and only one thought was lingering inside his mind. ’Aquila is already a High-Tier summon. Also, he’s extremely loyal, which is similar to Atlas. Today’s visit to the mind realm surely was fruitful.’ He said inwardly with a huge grin.
