Chapter 92: Chapter92-Ransacking the Dark Realm City Lord’s Mansion?

The two moved through several alleys, one following behind the other.

Before long.

Rosaline stopped in front of an unremarkable black stone house.

It was completely different from the "witch’s residence" John had imagined.

There were no skulls scattered everywhere.

Nor was there a giant cauldron bubbling with green liquid.

The place was actually quite tidy.

Several wooden tables stood on the first floor.

An entire row of bookshelves lined one wall.

Dark red flames burned in the fireplace.

And a familiar faint floral fragrance lingered in the air.

The moment John stepped through the door.

He stopped.

"Mmph! Mmmph mmmph!"

On the floor.

A white-haired girl was tied up from head to toe.

Her hands were bound behind her back.

Her legs were tightly wrapped in rope as well.

There was even a piece of cloth stuffed into her mouth.

She was wriggling frantically across the floor like a worm.

The moment Aya saw John.

Her eyes lit up!

"Mmmph mmmph mmmph!!!"

She struggled even harder.

John: "..."

He slowly turned his head toward Rosaline.

"Care to explain?"

Rosaline looked perfectly calm.

"This is a rapid calming technique."

"She was a little agitated earlier."

"So I helped her calm down for a while."

Aya: "Mmmph mmmph mmmph mmmph mmmph!!!"

Judging by that reaction.

It didn’t seem to have worked particularly well.

John walked over.

First, he pulled the cloth from her mouth.

The moment Aya could speak again, she immediately sucked in a deep breath.

"Boss!!!"

"This woman, she—"

"Untie you first."

"Oh."

John loosened the ropes.

Aya scrambled up from the floor.

She had just been about to complain.

When Rosaline turned toward her with a smiling expression.

Aya’s voice instantly grew quieter.

"She..."

"She didn’t really do anything to me."

John patted her shoulder.

"Then it’s fine."

A dozen or so seconds later.

The three of them were finally seated.

Rosaline remained in the main seat.

John and Aya sat opposite her.

Three cups of black tea automatically appeared on the table.

Aya glanced at hers.

She didn’t dare drink it.

John didn’t touch his either.

He looked directly at Rosaline.

"Go ahead."

"I’m all ears. What’s your proposal?"

Rosaline picked up her teacup.

She seemed to hesitate for a moment.

"How about..."

"I tell you a story first?"

John raised a hand.

"Stop."

Rosaline: "..."

"Time is precious."

"Get to the point."

"..."

Rosaline put down her teacup.

"You little brat. You really don’t have a romantic bone in your body."

John didn’t respond.

[Hunter’s Eye] had already activated silently.

Buzz—

[Thorn Witch · Rosaline]

[Level: Lv100 Citybreaker Tier BOSS]

[HP: ???]

[Spell Power: ???]

[Physical Defense: ???]

[Magic Defense: ???]

[Talents: ???]

[Skills: ???]

Lv100!

John’s gaze shifted slightly.

The last time they had met.

Rosaline had only been a sealed fragment of a soul.

All of her attributes had even been suppressed by 90%.

Now that he was seeing her true body again.

Her level had directly reached Lv100.

A Citybreaker Tier BOSS!

This was an existence on a completely different level from Baal or Nessa.

Rosaline seemed to notice something.

She lifted her eyes and glanced at him.

But didn’t call him out on it.

"Fine."

"Then I’ll get straight to the point."

Her slender fingers lightly tapped the rim of her cup.

"You entered Night City for those five legion teleportation arrays, didn’t you?"

John’s expression didn’t change.

But Aya immediately looked over from beside him.

Rosaline smiled.

"Don’t be so nervous."

"Those teleportation arrays have recently been preparing for a new round of war."

"If the Human Realm sent people into Night City at a time like this, I can’t think of any reason other than destroying them."

John didn’t deny it either.

"Continue."

"It’s simple."

Rosaline said.

"Do me a favor."

"And I’ll lure Grey away for you."

John narrowed his eyes slightly.

"Grey..."

"The big guy guarding the teleportation arrays."

Rosaline smiled.

"He’s been overseeing Night City’s military affairs recently, and those five teleportation arrays are under his personal guard. As long as he’s there, making a move won’t be easy for you."

John had to admit that much was true.

Lv90.

A single detection attempt had been enough for Grey to sense him.

And his true strength was still completely unknown.

If John could avoid fighting him.

Then it would be better not to fight him.

At least not now.

"What do you want me to do?"

Rosaline lifted her teacup.

And took a small sip.

"Go to the Night City Treasury for me."

"And bring back my grimoire."

The room suddenly fell silent.

The next second.

"The treasury?"

Aya, who had been sitting obediently in her chair until now.

Instantly leaned forward.

Both of her eyes lit up.

"Where’s the treasury?"

"How many guards are there?"

"Is there a lot of stuff inside?"

"Are there any spatial restrictions?"

"How long is the patrol interval?"

John turned his head.

Smack!

He slapped her on the head.

"Ow!"

Aya covered her forehead.

"Boss, why’d you hit me?"

"The moment stealing comes up, you get excited, huh?"

John pointed at her chair.

"It’s not your turn to talk yet. Sit properly."

"Oh..."

Aya reluctantly sat back down.

Though her ears were clearly still perked up.

John turned back toward Rosaline.

"I have a question."

"You’re one of the Dark Race."

"And you used to be one of the Twelve Witches."

"Why would you help us destroy the Dark Realm legion’s teleportation arrays?"

He leaned back in his chair.

"I need a reasonable explanation."

"Don’t tell me you’re planning to defect to the Human Realm."

"Hehehe..."

Rosaline suddenly laughed.

"You little brat."

"You really are suspicious of everything."

She set down her teacup.

"Relax. I have no interest in defecting to the Human Realm."

"To be precise, I don’t really care about the war between your two sides at all."

Rosaline leaned back.

Her voice also became calmer.

"I simply want to take back what belongs to me."

John said nothing.

Rosaline continued.

"You should still remember that I was sealed by the Human Realm for more than a hundred years."

"And over those hundred years, not everything simply stopped and waited for me."

"The seats of the Twelve Witches have changed hands again and again."

"I’m no longer one of them."

She raised one hand.

A black-and-red thorn flower appeared in her palm.

"My soul was split apart."

"My physical body disappeared."

"My strength declined."

"Even the magical artifacts I once used were taken into the Night City Treasury."

Rosaline gently closed her fist.

The thorn flower vanished with it.

"My strength can be restored little by little."

"But without my own grimoire."

"Trying to reclaim my position as a Witch would basically be a pipe dream."

John understood.

"So you want me to steal it?"

"Exactly."

"Why don’t you take it yourself?"

Rosaline shrugged.

"If I openly storm into the treasury and take back my own grimoire,"

"In the eyes of the Dark Realm’s upper ranks."

"That would be called rebellion."

"I have no interest in making enemies of all of them at once right now."

She looked at John.

Her red lips slowly curved into a smile.

"So, I need someone with the right identity for the job."
