One Piece: I Upgraded the Strongest Man in the World
Chapter 76: Jack Tempered by Lightning; Queen’s Udon Prison in Chaos!
"Jack the Drought, one of the Beasts Pirates’ Three Calamities... I’ve wanted to test your strength for a long time."
As he spoke, Izou’s body transformed into a streak of lightning and instantly appeared on the street outside the window. His movement was so fast that it was nearly impossible to follow with the naked eye.
At the same time, Jack came to a halt and glared at the man before him.
His eyes burned with anger and hostility.
"Brat! Look at the mess you’ve made! You’ve destroyed so much property—I’ll take your life as compensation!"
Jack roared, his voice overflowing with fury.
Faced with the threat, Izou showed no fear whatsoever.
Instead, excitement flickered in his eyes, as if he couldn’t wait to have some fun with the infamous Drought.
The atmosphere instantly became tense.
Jack let out a furious roar as every muscle in his body tensed like a raging beast.
His enormous mammoth trunk swung through the air, leaving behind afterimages. A layer of black Armament Haki instantly coated it, giving off an oppressive aura.
The trunk whipped toward Izou at terrifying speed.
It was obvious that his opponent possessed a Logia Devil Fruit, making ordinary physical attacks useless.
Against opponents like that, Haki was essential.
Jack understood this perfectly.
So he held nothing back, intending to smash Izou into a pulp with a single strike.
"With that kind of speed? You think you can take my life?"
Izou sneered.
"Ridiculous."
Before the trunk could reach him, a flash of lightning flickered across his body and he vanished from sight.
The next moment, a cold voice echoed above Jack’s head.
"Divine Punishment—Thirty Million Volts!"
The instant the words fell, a massive bolt of lightning descended from the sky with overwhelming destructive force.
Its speed was so great that Jack had no chance to react.
BOOM!
The lightning struck.
Jack’s enormous body was practically a living target; avoiding the attack was impossible.
In an instant, he was engulfed by dazzling electrical currents.
The power of the strike was enough to level a small mountain.
Although Jack possessed tremendous strength, even he struggled against such a terrifying attack.
His body convulsed violently under the lightning’s assault, as though it might collapse at any moment.
At the same time, the lightning field spread mercilessly across the surrounding area, engulfing the underlings who had followed him.
None of them lasted even three seconds.
One after another, they collapsed to the ground, completely motionless.
The smell of scorched flesh filled the air.
Only Jack remained standing, howling in agony.
"AAARGH! It hurts! It hurts!"
His body had been charred black by the lightning.
Even his distinctive mammoth fur had been burned away in large patches.
Thin trails of black smoke rose from his body, accompanied by the unmistakable smell of roasted meat.
The spectators watching from afar couldn’t help swallowing nervously.
They were shocked, terrified, and utterly unwilling to get any closer.
Izou’s figure appeared silently atop a nearby rooftop.
Like a ghost, he looked down at the scene below.
Devil Fruit powers were powerful, but every use consumed stamina.
The stronger the technique, the greater the physical burden.
From hunting down and eliminating Orochi to fighting his subordinates, he had already expended a considerable amount of energy.
More importantly, he still needed to return to Skypiea afterward.
Any unnecessary waste of time or stamina was unacceptable.
Besides—
He still had one important task left.
Looting Orochi’s treasure.
Therefore, after launching another Thunderbird, Izou didn’t linger.
He immediately departed the area.
As he disappeared, only Jack remained behind, struggling in pain.
Bolts of lightning continued striking him, as though punishing him for his earlier arrogance.
"Damn it! This is infuriating!"
Jack roared furiously, trying to vent his frustration.
But no one answered.
In truth, the entire area had long since been deserted.
Everyone had fled in fear, terrified of being caught in the chaos.
In a dim corner, Denjiro carefully settled Komurasaki in a relatively safe location before disappearing back into the shadows.
Holding his breath, he watched the situation from afar.
Inside, however, his emotions were in turmoil.
On one hand was the brotherhood he shared with Izou, whom he had not seen for many years.
On the other was the mission he carried.
As an undercover agent, exposure would not only cost him his life—it could also destroy years of planning and potentially trigger a full-scale war.
At this moment, Denjiro found himself caught in an unprecedented struggle.
Any decision he made now would be incredibly difficult.
What worried him even more was that, according to the prophecy, the key figures had yet to appear.
Meanwhile, Lord Momonosuke was still missing.
Kin’emon and Kanjuro had also disappeared without a trace.
The already complicated situation was becoming increasingly confusing.
Faced with such a predicament, Denjiro knew he couldn’t solve everything alone.
"Forget it," he muttered softly.
"I can’t reveal myself yet. I’ll go discuss this with Ashura and the others first."
After everyone had left, silence fell over the area.
Then—
On the cold floor, Orochi’s body suddenly twitched in a strange manner, as though some force was awakening within it.
His previously lifeless eyes instantly regained their focus.
Cold, cunning light flickered within them.
A sinister smile slowly formed at the corners of his mouth.
It was as if he were mocking those who believed they had succeeded.
In a low voice, he muttered,
"Oden... I never expected that even after twenty years, you would still have such loyal followers.
But when that man dies before my eyes as well...
What kind of expression will you make then?
Hahahaha..."
His laughter echoed through the empty hall, filled with malice and smug satisfaction.
It was enough to send chills down anyone’s spine.
Udon Prison
Chaos reigned throughout the prison.
Queen was running himself ragged.
The barrage of laser blasts had blown open prison gates all over Udon.
For a moment, he had even thought Admiral Kizaru had arrived, scaring him so badly that he nearly turned around and fled.
But after getting a clear look at the attackers, he realized they weren’t Kizaru at all.
They were members of the Whitebeard Pirates!
"You brats!"
Queen roared furiously.
"Get these prisoners back into their cells! If even one escapes, I’m going all out!"
