One Piece: I Upgraded the Strongest Man in the World
Chapter 109: [3] Captain, It’s Your Turn to Receive an Enchantment!
Upon hearing that, Marshall D. Teach suddenly remembered something.
His newly purchased ship was still docked at the harbor.
The thought of losing a brand-new vessel before even taking it out to sea made his heart ache.
"Damn it! I haven’t even sailed the thing yet, and it’s already about to be destroyed! What kind of joke is this?!"
Teach growled furiously, resentment flashing across his face.
However, he quickly forced himself to calm down and made a decision.
"Hurry! Move the ship to one of Water Seven’s upper platforms immediately! If we don’t, we’ll lose everything!"
Jesus Burgess nodded and immediately rushed off to find people to help.
There wasn’t a second to waste.
Teach took one last look at the raging sea.
His emotions were a complicated mess.
But he said nothing more.
"Let’s go."
The moment the order was given, everyone sprang into action.
They needed to get out of danger as quickly as possible, save their new ship, and ensure their own survival.
...
Inside the mayor’s office in Water Seven, the atmosphere was unusually tense.
Mayor Iceburg stood before the window, staring grimly at the turbulent ocean outside.
Never in his life had he witnessed an Aqua Laguna of this magnitude.
Even in the city’s long history, no such disaster had ever been recorded.
"Mayor Iceburg," Kalifa said softly, adjusting her glasses.
There was a hint of concern in her voice.
"Based on our observations and analysis, the scale of this Aqua Laguna is unprecedented in Water Seven’s historical records."
Iceburg nodded.
He knew the situation was extremely serious.
Immediate action was necessary to protect the city and its citizens.
"It’s time to activate the emergency response plan."
His voice was firm as he mentally calculated how much time remained before the tsunami reached the city.
"Paulie!"
"Yes, Mayor!"
A broad-shouldered man wearing blue work clothes immediately entered from outside.
A lit cigar hung from the corner of his mouth.
Despite the emergency, he remained remarkably composed.
"I need you to head to the dockyards immediately and mobilize everyone available—shipwrights, workers, and volunteers alike. Help evacuate civilians and assist anyone seeking shelter. We must minimize casualties and property damage as much as possible."
"Understood! I’ll get it done right away."
Paulie gave a quick salute before turning and leaving at once.
Meanwhile, Kalifa was already contacting department heads throughout the city.
One by one, she relayed orders to activate the highest level of emergency preparedness.
Though the voices coming through the Den Den Mushi sounded anxious, they were equally determined.
"Attention all personnel. Due to the current extreme weather conditions, the citywide emergency response plan is now officially activated..."
The entirety of Water Seven united as one to face this unprecedented disaster.
...
Out on the ocean, colossal waves roared endlessly.
It felt as though the entire world was trembling.
Countless fish and sea creatures were swept into the catastrophe.
Helplessly tossed into the sky, they were ultimately swallowed by the monstrous tsunami.
As the giant wave continued advancing, those tiny lives could only drift with fate.
At the center of the disaster, however, something even more terrifying had appeared.
A gigantic circular void.
The massive hole seemed to possess limitless power.
Anything that approached it vanished instantly.
Whether sea life or matter itself, everything was erased without a trace.
The entire central region had been completely emptied.
Only a vast circular cavity remained.
It resembled the gaping maw of some ancient beast that had devoured everything within reach.
The surrounding tsunami was like the ripples caused by a stone falling into a still pond.
Except the energy involved was beyond imagination.
Instead of dissipating, the waves grew larger and more violent.
What began as a disturbance had evolved into an unprecedented super disaster—
Aqua Laguna itself seemed to have descended upon the world.
...
Meanwhile, the people of Skypiea knew nothing about what was happening below.
Everyone simply assumed the lack of reaction was due to the immense depth of the White Sea or some other unknown factor.
The enchantment process continued.
Jozu had already exhausted himself completely.
Collapsed on the ground, he sat there gasping for breath.
The others took the opportunity to tease him mercilessly.
"Serves you right for showing off."
"Yeah, look at you now. Go rest somewhere."
Ron swept his gaze across the crowd before speaking.
"Whitey Bay, bring up the last three boxes."
"Of course. They’re already prepared~"
Whitey Bay smiled confidently.
While everyone else had been celebrating, she and Conis had already made all the necessary preparations.
They had simply been waiting for Ron’s signal.
"Thanks for the hard work."
Ron glanced at Whitey Bay and Conis with satisfaction.
Then his attention shifted toward Whitebeard, who had been grinning from ear to ear the entire time.
A hint of anticipation entered Ron’s voice.
"Captain, it’s your turn to receive an enchantment."
"Hm? Me?"
Whitebeard blinked in surprise.
For a moment, he didn’t understand.
He had never said he planned to undergo another enchantment.
Why had the turn suddenly come to him?
Seeing his confusion, Ron explained,
"It’s a special Devil Fruit we found during your last trip to Wano Country."
As he spoke, he pointed toward the terrified man tied to a pillar nearby.
"That’s Kurozumi Orochi. Capturing him was an unexpected bonus from our raid on Kaido."
Realization immediately dawned on Whitebeard.
So that was it.
He had noticed Orochi before, but hadn’t paid much attention to him.
For someone of Whitebeard’s stature, an insignificant pirate hardly warranted a second glance.
But now it seemed this man possessed something far more valuable.
Since Ron had begun experimenting with Devil Fruit Enchantment Technology, two enchantments had already succeeded.
Each one had dramatically increased Whitebeard’s strength.
And based on what he knew—
A third successful enchantment would require at least nine billion Berries worth of value.
That meant Orochi’s Devil Fruit was worth no less than that amount.
Otherwise, Ron would never waste time explaining it in such detail.
As that thought crossed his mind, Whitebeard’s expression grew more serious.
"What ability does he have?"
Whitebeard asked slowly, genuine curiosity appearing in his eyes.
