One Piece: Getting Stronger by Writing a Diary
Chapter 632 - 870 – Trust Kalifa’s Judgment
"Forget it."
Blueno shook his head, trying to persuade Kaku and Rob Lucci. "Kalifa said earlier that the woman named Raki is very strong. I don't think she'd lie about something like that."
"So I don't think Raki glancing in our direction earlier was a coincidence. She probably really did notice us."
"If we go over there again now, there's no way we'll be able to explain everything away."
Kaku nodded despite himself, but his face quickly twisted into a troubled frown.
"But if that's the case, how are we supposed to make sure Kalifa is safe? I get the feeling that Raki intends to keep Kalifa with her the entire time."
Kaku sighed.
Although Kalifa had also undergone special agent training and could sleep even in extremely harsh conditions, the ship's foundation was actually a fairly decent place to spend the night.
Kaku and Lucci were shipwrights themselves, so they knew the foundation had been built using extremely high-quality materials.
There might not be any beds yet, but with some bedding laid down, it would still be quite comfortable.
Kalifa could certainly make do with an environment like that.
Even so, Kaku was still worried about her safety.
If Raki really was as powerful as Kalifa claimed, wouldn't leaving the two of them together all the time be dangerous?
Why does that woman Raki insist on keeping Kalifa with her?
Kaku turned toward Rob Lucci, the most capable agent among them.
Lucci shook his head. "Even if you ask me, I can't give you an answer."
"Seriously? Even you can't figure it out?"
Kaku was stunned.
In the past, Lucci had always been the most confident among them. No matter what mission they faced, he could always come up with a way to handle it.
Kaku had grown accustomed to trusting Lucci's judgment.
But now, even Lucci admitted he couldn't figure out what was happening, leaving Kaku both surprised and frustrated.
"I've never been beaten like that before, much less had Spandam arrange a mission like this afterward."
Lucci's words made Kaku and Blueno exchange a glance.
Lucci had never spoken like this before. Why was he suddenly so discouraged?
What neither Kaku nor Blueno knew was that Lucci still hadn't recovered from being defeated by Conis.
Not only that, but after being defeated by Conis, he had encountered Raki, someone even stronger than himself.
It was only natural for Lucci to start doubting himself.
Under those circumstances, he couldn't help feeling frustrated about certain things.
"Forget it. Let's go back."
After thinking it over, Lucci turned to Kaku and Blueno. "There's nothing we can do about the situation for now."
"Since that's the case, we might as well trust Kalifa's judgment."
"If she thinks there's no problem staying beside Raki, then let her."
"For now, let's focus on properly building the ship for that woman named Raki."
"Can we really just leave it like that?"
Kaku let out a deep sigh.
...
"Do you need me to help?"
Blueno looked at Rob Lucci and Kaku.
"You? Help us?" Kaku stared at him and complained, "Do you even know how to build a ship?"
"Well..."
Blueno scratched the back of his head awkwardly.
They might all be agents, but his cover identity was that of a bartender.
Naturally, he hadn't learned shipbuilding the way Kaku and Lucci had.
Having him help build the ship would probably just make things worse.
"Maybe I can bring drinks over for everyone and say I'm helping out the shipyard crew."
After thinking it over, Blueno felt that was probably the most practical option.
"Forget it. The more we do right now, the greater the chance of making a mistake."
"Instead of worrying about that, you should focus on finding a way to investigate that blonde woman who defeated us earlier."
"Kaku and I will concentrate on building the ship."
Lucci sighed.
"This..."
Blueno's mouth twitched as he struggled to respond.
Although he didn't know the blonde woman's name, it was obvious that she was incredibly powerful.
Even all the CP9 agents together had been no match for her. Asking him to investigate her alone was putting him in a difficult position.
Blueno even felt that if he brought a Seastone cuff with him, he still wouldn't dare confront her.
After all, that blonde woman was a Rumble-Rumble Fruit user.
Everyone knew just how fast lightning was.
Blueno found it hard to imagine himself managing to clamp Seastone onto her before she could react.
Even using the Door-Door Fruit to suddenly appear behind her and launch an attack didn't seem reliable.
He was a Devil Fruit user too. How was he supposed to carry Seastone around with him while taking action?
And even if he somehow managed it, Blueno still didn't think he could win.
The power of the Rumble-Rumble Fruit was simply too overwhelming.
Not only did Lucci feel psychologically intimidated by Conis, but even Blueno himself had developed a shadow in his heart toward the woman who wielded the Rumble-Rumble Fruit.
Still, since Lucci had spoken, Blueno could only nod in agreement.
They were agents, after all. Since they had lost to Conis, they had no choice but to investigate her.
They should have begun investigating her as soon as they escaped.
For various reasons, however, they had never managed to make any real progress.
"I understand. I'll be careful."
Blueno took a deep breath.
"Yeah. I'm counting on you."
Lucci's gaze softened as he looked at him.
He knew he was assigning Blueno a dangerous mission, which was why his expression had become so unusually gentle.
"Be careful, Blueno."
"If possible, you should disguise yourself."
Kaku added.
"You think a disguise would help?"
Blueno's mouth twitched. Makeup could alter someone's appearance a little, but if he suddenly looked completely different from before, wouldn't the customers at his bar find it suspicious?
That could create other problems, which was the last thing Blueno wanted.
