Chapter 379: Where To?
Chapter 379: Chapter 379: Where To?
Amazon Lily
Vir was strolling slowly down the long street, holding Robin by the hand and carrying Chopper on his head.
Along the way, quite a few people greeted him.
Of course, they also cast curious glances at Robin.
This made Robin—who usually paid no mind to others’ stares—feel a little different this time.
She could feel the warmth of the large hand holding hers.
Normally, she would have been happy, but now, she felt somewhat uneasy.
After all, Vir was normally such a blockhead that this kind of gesture didn’t come naturally to him.
“Gimme eight Swiss rolls! Oh, add one more!”
Vir stopped at a stall, speaking to the elderly woman behind it.
“Ah! Right away!”
Clearly, she recognized Vir, and gave a warm, simple smile.
Or perhaps it was more accurate to say—there was no one on Amazon Lily who didn’t know Vir these days.
Not long ago, his wanted posters had been plastered all over the island.
Even in public restrooms.
Taking the goods from the vendor, Vir left a stack of Berries behind—enough to buy at least one Chopper’s worth.
Handing one to Chopper on his head (after sternly warning the little reindeer not to get crumbs in his hair), Vir gave the remaining eight Swiss rolls to Robin.
Robin blinked in surprise.
“Aren’t you having any?”
“I don’t eat sweets.”
Nodding in understanding, Robin silently committed this to memory—though she took it as the opposite of the truth.
Opening one, she took a small bite.
…Sweet.
Delicious.
A happy smile spread across her face as she ate.
Meanwhile, Chopper, perched on Vir’s head, frowned in confusion.
What was going on with these two?
He distinctly remembered that Vir did eat sweets. So why was he saying he didn’t now?
And wasn’t Robin the one who didn’t like sweets? So why was she enjoying them so much?
Humans were truly strange creatures~
~Mmm! So good!~
Slurp slurp~
Nom nom nom nom~!
*Drip.*
A drop of syrup landed on Vir’s hair.
Without thinking, Chopper leaned down and licked it off.
Then—
“CHOPPER!! I TOLD YOU NOT TO GET STUFF IN MY HAIR, YOU DUMB REINDEER!!”
With Vir’s furious roar, two large bumps instantly sprouted on Chopper’s head.
Tears streamed down his face.
Waaahh! Big bro hits just as hard as ever! Big bro is the real dummy! I didn’t do it on purpose!
Soon, they arrived at Vir’s room.
He had brought them here for a reason—to discuss their next steps.
Luffy had already been taken away by Rayleigh.
The question now was: where should they go?
Sticking with Vir wasn’t an option—following him wouldn’t help them grow stronger.
His own suggestion was either Whitebeard or Golden Lion.
Jina wasn’t weak in terms of potential.
After being one-shot by Vir, she had finally faced reality.
Having Shiki personally train her made perfect sense.
With Vir’s word, Chopper and Robin could easily become direct disciples under either legend.
After explaining his thoughts, he got two very different responses.
“I wanna go with Whitebeard! He’s so strong! I wanna learn how to use a giant sword like his!”
Chopper declared passionately, waving his tiny axe around.
Robin, however, wanted to train alongside Jina under Shiki.
When it came to close combat and the finesse of Devil Fruit control, Shiki surpassed even Whitebeard.
A year under his guidance would undoubtedly skyrocket Robin’s strength.
Vir also leaned toward sending Robin with Shiki.
Having a companion would be good for her. Plus, fewer people meant a quieter environment—better suited to Robin’s personality.
And so, it was settled.
Once things stabilized with Whitebeard, Vir would send Chopper over.
As for Robin, she would leave with Shiki after Vir finished healing Jina’s severed arm.
With that decided, Vir pulled out a medical kit and began assembling materials to reconstruct Jina’s missing left arm.
—
Deep beneath the sea…
Fish-Man Island.
With everyone gone, the royal palace had grown eerily quiet.
Princess Shirahoshi, now fourteen, noticed the sudden silence and grew curious.
Though young, her figure was already… problematic, nearly matching her sixteen-year-old self in size.
Cautiously, she cracked open her massive door just a sliver.
Normally, guards would stop her—but today, none were there.
Encouraged, she opened it a little wider, poking her head out like a cautious turtle.
Her eyes darted left and right like a spinning top.
’No one…?’
A pang of worry struck her.
’Where did everyone go?’
’Why did they all disappear?’
’Am I… all alone now?’
’Did Father and my brothers… abandon me?’
Her lips trembled, tears welling up in her large eyes.
Trembling, she began to retreat, pulling the door shut.
’Even if I’m alone… I-I can protect myself…!’
Just as the door was about to close—
*BAM!*
A hand shot out, gripping the edge!
Shirahoshi’s pupils shrank in terror.
Before she could react, more hands grabbed the door, forcing it open!
“HEY! We hit the jackpot, boys! This one’s gonna sell for a fortune!”
Two groups of pirates worked together, prying the door wide open.
Their eyes locked onto Shirahoshi—her flawless face, her breathtaking figure, still carrying a hint of youthful innocence.
They froze.
No… “fortune” was an understatement.
This was a once-in-a-lifetime payday!
Shirahoshi, petrified, shrank back, tears streaming down her face.
’Father… Brothers… Where are you…?’
As the pirates lunged forward, nets and harpoons in hand—
*SLASH!*
Heads flew.
Blood sprayed.
Severed heads smacked against Shirahoshi’s face, the thick, warm liquid staining her skin.
As the headless corpses collapsed, the sheer horror of the scene made her faint on the spot.
“HAHAHAHA! Now… the most valuable mermaid is MINE ALONE!”
The remaining pirate laughed maniacally, lust and greed burning in his eyes.
But he didn’t notice.
A certain blue-skinned, rotund fish-man now stood behind him…
