Chapter 1027: Chapter 1027: The Weakness of Future Sight | The Human Punching Bag Named Big Mom
A blinding white light erupted within the Mirror World. The rampaging white tiger transformed into a gargantuan, ring-shaped shockwave, expanding outwards with reckless abandon.
BOOM! RUMBLE—!
Accompanied by a deafening, cataclysmic roar, the ground shattered under the sheer weight of the shockwave. Countless boulders were sent flying, triggering a violent tremor that swept across the land like a hurricane, wreaking havoc for kilometers in every direction. The remnants of the Big Mom Pirates still trapped in the Mirror World scrambled to flee, but hundreds were caught in the blast. It wasn’t just a matter of cracked skulls or broken bones; more than a few were crushed to death instantly.
After a long while, the dust hanging in the Mirror World began to settle, revealing Charlotte Linlin in a rather disheveled state. Her arms were crossed before her, her feet buried deep into the fractured earth, and her wide, pink dress was torn in several places. Fortunately, she was still covered; otherwise, Aeridar would have been blinded by the sight of her corpulent frame.
"Hmph..."
Charlotte Linlin let out a stifled grunt as a trickle of blood escaped the corner of her mouth. It seemed her internal organs had been rattled.
She reached up, wiped the blood from her lip, and stared at the stain on her hand. A savage grin twisted her face. "Not bad, brat. I haven’t taken this much damage in ages!"
"Are you even human?"
Aeridar stared, dumbfounded, at Charlotte Linlin. He could hardly believe that such a massive, direct hit had caused so little injury.
It was like fighting a raid boss in a game, finally seizing an opening to land an ultimate skill, only to find that the boss still had a mountain of HP left. Even with his "infinite energy" hack allowing for endless barrages, he felt like he was going to vomit blood just from the sheer exhaustion of it.
Just then, Zeus, hovering in mid-air, rained down several bucket-thick lightning bolts toward Aeridar, blasting blackened craters into the ground and sending gravel flying.
At the same moment, the air rippled slightly. A tall, robust black shadow materialized out of thin air directly in front of Zeus, causing the cloud’s tiny face to pale in terror.
"Damn it! You think I can’t swat you away? Impact Wave!"
Bang!
Aeridar threw a punch, unleashing a powerful shock force that instantly compressed the air before him into a violent, ring-shaped blast.
"Ah... Mama—!"
Zeus screamed as he was struck dead-on. He tried to struggle for a moment, but like a storm cloud shredded by a hurricane, his nebulous form was torn apart, vanishing into the horizon in the blink of an eye.
"You bastard!"
Seeing this, Charlotte Linlin let out a shrill roar. She bent her knees and launched herself upward, soaring nearly a hundred meters into the air before swinging her sword, Napoleon, down toward Aeridar’s hastily crossed arms.
CLANG—!
With a surge of immense force and spreading shockwaves, Aeridar was sent plummeting from the sky, slamming hard into the earth below.
CRASH—!
The ground shook violently, kicking up a sky-high plume of dust and debris. Countless jagged fissures spiderwebbed outward in every direction.
"I never imagined my Future Sight had a weakness like this..."
Aeridar quickly scrambled out of the shattered crater, his face grim as he looked up at Charlotte Linlin, who had now landed on the ground. Though he could foresee scenes several seconds into the future, when faced with consecutive, multi-target attacks, he had no way of knowing what would happen during the brief gaps between them.
Just like before: he had foreseen Zeus’s lightning, dodged it, and blasted the cloud away. But Charlotte Linlin’s follow-up strike hadn’t been accounted for, either because he hadn’t foreseen it, or hadn’t had the time to process it. Because her attack occurred in that split-second interval between his foresight windows, she had managed to land the hit.
It wasn’t that Aeridar couldn’t extend his foresight, but it required total concentration and a "casting time" of one to several seconds. If he looked too far ahead, he couldn’t process the flood of future images in an instant; instead, it would become a fatal flaw in a battle against someone of her caliber.
Still, he had already swatted Zeus away, and the cloud wouldn’t be returning anytime soon. This was his chance. Even if he couldn’t win, he was going to leave a few scars.
BOOM—!
In the next second, Aeridar stomped down, shattering the ground beneath him, and launched himself forward like a cannonball.
"Go to hell! IKOKUUU!!!"
Charlotte Linlin bellowed, wielding her sword, Napoleon, in a massive forward slash.
BOOM—!
The sky and earth turned dim as a gargantuan pink wave of sword energy erupted, swallowing Aeridar whole and tearing yet another terrifying chasm across the Mirror World.
POP.
Before Charlotte Linlin could breathe a sigh of relief, the air before her rippled. A figure appeared out of thin air.
"It’s useless. You can’t stop me!"
In an instant, a massive ring-shaped shockwave exploded outward, engulfing Charlotte Linlin.
RUMBLE—!
Charlotte Linlin’s body was pushed back by the sheer force, the ground beneath her feet disintegrating entirely.
"GET OUT!!!"
Suddenly, Charlotte Linlin opened her mouth and let out an earth-shattering scream. The gargantuan sound manifested as visible air ripples, rolling out like a tidal wave and clashing head-on against the shockwave crushing down on her.
A moment later, the shockwave vanished, the screaming ceased, and both combatants charged at one another.
The two titans engaged in a fierce brawl of iron fists and titanic blades. Their massive forms moved with blinding speed, their blows heavy and lethal. With every clash, the "clang-clang-clang" of their impacts echoed through the Mirror World, and the force of their aura sent waves of destruction outwards. Just the wind pressure from their fists and blades tore the ground asunder, leaving behind a crisscross of massive rifts.
"Impact Fist!!!"
Before long, Aeridar roared and landed a clean, direct punch square on Charlotte Linlin’s face, sending her tumbling back dozens of meters and nearly forcing blood from her lips.
Furious, Charlotte Linlin shrieked and leaped back into the fray, blade swinging, clashing with Aeridar once more.
Yet, with the benefit of Future Sight, Aeridar countered every single one of her attacks. After a dozen exchanges, Charlotte Linlin would inevitably be sent flying again.
"Bear Pillar!"
"Dual Bear Pillars!"
"Bear King Pillar!"
"..."
Aeridar attacked relentlessly, cycling through a barrage of techniques, each one stronger than the last. He pounded relentlessly against the "Iron Balloon," but other than knocking her back further, he could barely leave a scratch.
To the surviving members of the Big Mom Pirates watching from afar, however, the sight was soul-shattering and beyond belief.
Since when did Big Mom, one of the Yonko, the invincible Pirate Queen of the New World, become nothing more than a human punching bag?!
