On a Stormy Night, the Campus Belle Knocked on My Door Seeking Shelter
Chapter 237: Desire and Love
Although the birthday party was over, Chen Mo’s family’s affection for Su Yuqing hadn’t changed in the slightest.
For the next few days, Chen Xi and Chen Miao would always come over to make breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the couple. After the family finished eating, they would tactfully take their leave,
doing their best to preserve the couple’s private world.
Feeling Chen Mo’s parents’ love and care for her these past few days, Su Yuqing’s heart was filled with warmth and joy.
When you like a guy, the scariest thing is not knowing what his parents think of you.
Now that she knew what kind of people Chen Mo’s parents were, and how good they were to her, Su Yuqing instantly felt enveloped by happiness.
She was so happy, it almost felt unreal.
Meanwhile, her plan was also moving forward.
On Thursday afternoon, Su Yuqing and Wang Susu found a secluded spot and were discussing something.
"You finally asked," Wang Susu said, looking at Su Yuqing with a smile that said she’d known all along.
"You knew I was going to ask this?" Su Yuqing looked at Wang Susu, astonished.
"Of course. You suddenly decided to befriend me, got all close, and started subtly asking about dating. I guessed what you were up to right away." Wang Susu chuckled as she looked at Su Yuqing, thinking the girl before her was adorably naive.
When Chen Mo had asked Wang Susu about Su Yuqing before, Wang Susu hadn’t actually heard anything directly from Su Yuqing herself.
She had simply sensed Su Yuqing’s motives for approaching her through her own sharp intuition.
But she hadn’t expected Su Yuqing to be patient enough to wait until today to finally say something.
’Perhaps she felt that after all these days of building our friendship, our relationship was finally at a point where we could discuss this topic.’
At that moment, Su Yuqing’s cheeks were faintly flushed, and she fidgeted nervously with her notebook.
"So... can you tell me?" Su Yuqing asked, mustering her courage as her face turned red.
"What’s there to hide? What you heard is true. I was the one who confessed to him," Wang Susu admitted breezily.
The reason Su Yuqing had approached Wang Susu was because she’d heard something.
Specifically, that Wang Susu had confessed to a boy from the class next door, and now the two were passionately dating.
Su Yuqing had long harbored a plan: after graduation, she would find an opportunity to confess to Chen Mo. It might be during the graduation ceremony, on his birthday, or at some other significant time and place.
She hadn’t decided on the specific time or place, nor did she know how to execute her plan.
She only had a vague idea, a desire to do it.
She wanted to respond to Chen Mo’s care, protection, and affection in her own way, to express the feelings she had buried deep inside her.
After all, for Su Yuqing, matters of the heart were a completely new experience.
A confession, especially, was the single most crucial and important juncture in a relationship—the one thing you absolutely couldn’t mess up, and yet the one thing she had no experience with.
So, Su Yuqing continued to seek guidance.
And Wang Susu, who had accomplished the feat of a girl confessing to a boy and starting a relationship, was the only love guru Su Yuqing could find to learn from.
This was the real reason she had proactively approached Wang Susu and tried to get on her good side.
Chen Mo had recently noticed Su Yuqing secretly scribbling something in a notebook; it was all the relationship advice she had managed to glean through her indirect questions.
The silly girl had filled her notebook to the brim with a "dating strategy guide."
But she still hadn’t found out the most crucial, fundamental step—how the confession itself had actually happened. She hadn’t brought herself to ask.
Today, she had finally summoned the courage to ask, never imagining that the other girl already knew what she was going to say.
"Um, could I know the specific details?" Su Yuqing knew it was a presumptuous question, but this was her only way to get some firsthand knowledge, so she had to ask directly.
Wang Susu smiled and leaned in close to Su Yuqing. "You want to confess to Chen Mo, don’t you?"
Instantly, with a WHOOSH, Su Yuqing’s cheeks flushed as red as a ripe apple.
She nodded shyly.
"Let me tell you, you don’t even need to learn anything from me. I can tell just by looking that Chen Mo likes you. Whatever you do, it’ll work out easily for you two.
It’s not like my situation. Back then, I didn’t even know if he knew who I was or if he liked me. I just went and confessed on an impulse.
I never expected it to actually work out.
If there’s one thing I can teach you, it’s that you have to be bold.
Don’t be afraid of failure.
Life is only a few decades long. If you don’t take a chance at least once, you’ll spend the rest of it living with regret."
Wang Susu sounded like a great philosopher, lecturing Su Yuqing on her views on love and life.
Hearing Wang Susu say this, Su Yuqing was obviously surprised.
She had no idea that Wang Susu had confessed to him when they were basically strangers.
’That’s so intense!’
’I’m so close with Chen Mo, but I don’t even dare to say anything remotely intimate to his face, let alone confess directly.’
’Just that courage alone feels like something I could spend a lifetime trying to learn.’
"I want to make it a bit more special," Su Yuqing said slowly.
"True. You and Chen Mo aren’t like Ah Qiang and me. Our relationship was based on impulse. You two are way past that stage. In your situation, you need a really heartfelt and well-prepared confession to be worthy of the love you share," Wang Susu said with a smile.
In the past, Wang Susu would have sneered at the idea of talking about "love" at their age.
She used to think it was nothing more than an impulse driven by hormones.
Sometimes it was based on looks, sometimes on figure, sometimes on personality. In short, during that restless period of adolescence when desires are hard to express, you’d see one thing you liked at a particular moment, and the bold ones could easily blurt out a confession, trying to seize the chance to date.
Meanwhile, the timid could only bury that flutter in their hearts deep inside, forever.
But whether they were bold or timid, it was hard to say that what they experienced at that age was truly love.
Love is a unique emotion; it isn’t something born simply from impulsive desire.
It’s a product that brews and develops over time.
And in Wang Susu’s eyes, Chen Mo and Su Yuqing, through all the time they had spent together, had already let that product finish brewing. Now, they just needed one important opportunity to unbottle it.
