Chapter 2873: Good News and Surprise

“Based on the scans and the graphs, all of your body nerves have started to become normal. Even your neural nerves are no longer as inflamed and unresponsive as before. It seems that your increased activity in using the virtual reality gear has made your brain as active as before. It will not take long for it to recover fully and will only need about six more months.

For your motor functions, the atrophy is no longer as grave as before and you could proceed to walk without assistance as long as you practice. For now, you can still use the skeletal frame for assistance but you can start without it after a month. The skeletal frame is merely helping you to walk and only aids you in terms of a sudden fall or imbalance.

The data accumulated by it has already told us that you can start without it but we need to still use it just to be safe. Come back in a month for your next check-up so that we can scan your neural nerves again if everything is normal. If that is the case then independent motor function should start by that time.

As long as one is a fighter, they can recover even in the direst of circumstances.” The doctor stated which made Adrian smile while Mina could be seen tearing up.

This was the most beautiful news that the two of them heard all year. Adrian is suddenly excited to go to the Pandelympics this year even though it was postponed to the latter half of the year. It seems that more countries wanted to join in on the grand sport tournament which is why Atlas Inc. had to prepare from scratch.

“Thank you so much for the news, doctor.” Mina stated as tears finally dropped down her pretty face.

“It was not just my effort but also your brother’s. If he did not actively participate and listen then all of this will be for nothing. You have done well, Adrian.” The doctor stated with a bright smile which also made Adrian teary eyed but the latter stopped himself. If Adrian started crying now then his sister will not stop crying and they would form a chorale of cries.

“Let us celebrate with shaved ice.” Adrian stated with a smile as he held Mina’s hand.

“See you next month, doc!” Adrian stated as he bowed with respect before both him and his sister went to the restaurant.

“I think I ate too much because I was too happy.” Adrian stated as he touched his belly that is now full of food compared to when he arrived at the hospital. He needed to not have any food in his stomach for the tests which is why he was incredibly hungry after it.

“You just ate too fast. That was your normal serving if you are hungry but you got too excited and inhaled everything. Good thing there is still some time before dinner for all that food to go down or else Mom will definitely be mad at you.” Mina stated as both of them entered the house but their parents were not there to greet them.

“Mom?!” Adrian shouted.

“Dad?!” Mina added.

“Where are you?!” Both Adrian and Mina asked in unison.

“We are currently here at your dad’s office. We need your help in doing something so please come here.” Their mother shouted back.

Adrian and Mina were thinking what their parents needed from them. They headed towards their dad’s office and heard a familiar humming sound of a machine. The humming sound was not just one but two that echoed with each other in unison. Upon entering the office, Adrian and Mina were shocked to see the base form model of the gaming pod of Atlas Inc. because they never expected it.

Adrian’s parents could have bought the latest models as they can with their money but they do not like to do so since this is just their first time trying it. Adrian would have thought that they bought this gaming pods for him and Mina but they already have the latest model. There is only logical explanation why there are two gaming pods in their dad’s office.

“Both of you are also trying Pandemonium?” Adrian asked with disbelief as his parents were the outdoorsy type.

Adrian’s mother was really the outdoorsy person and his father just gets caught up in it but they bond that way. The fact that his mother would try something related to advance machines is already something that he did not expect. She would often emphasize that even phones stunt the growth of a child which is why screen time was limited when Adrian was young.

“Why the sudden interest?” Adrian asked as he was really curious.

“I am glad you asked, my son. This is all for your future and also congratulations!” Adrian’s mother stated as she hugged him.

“It seems that you are recovering faster than what was expected. Good job, son.” Adrian’s father added as he patted his head.

“Both of you already know?” Mina asked as she did not expect that their parents already know and she wanted to tell them as she is also excited.

“We got emailed the lab results after he was done with all the tests and you signed off on it. We would have not known about it if you did not waste time for three hours outside.” Adrian’s mother stated with a smile that is not a smile but she let it go as she is also happy.

“We needed to eat because he was so hungry. His stomach even rumbled while he was being tested which made me laugh but also wanted to take care of him. We took our time eating and chatting at a restaurant which is why it took so long.” Mina stated as she already created the excuse on her head while she was still driving.

“Anyways, back to the gaming pods… is this the reason why both of you cannot go with us?” Adrian asked as he was curious and not sulking.

“This is just one of the reasons but your father’s friend visited today for a brief moment. We would have followed up with you but the installation crew suddenly told us that they will come today which is why we were unable to. I hope that my cute hero is not upset that I was not there.” Adrian’s mother stated as she hugged him.

“I am not upset, mom. I am already a grown up that knows that there are certain things that cannot be avoided due to responsibility. Anyways, why are both of you still outside and not trying it?” Adrian asked as people usually use the gaming pods immediately after the installation crew leaves.

“Your father told me to read the manual with him which is why we have yet to do so.” Adrian’s mother stated.

“Manual? You mean that five hundred paged book that was given? There is already a built-in tutorial for that if you use it. They made it interactive to make sure that even those with reading disabilities like dyslexia can use it. No one really bothers to read that manual because the live demo is cooler.” Adrian stated even though he skipped most of it as he already watched streamers go through it.

“See. I told you that we should have just went in.” Adrian’s mother stated.

“I like to be thorough. Mina said that she read the whole thing before going in.” Adrian’s father stated.

“Anyhow, you can do the live demo now and we will be able to whip up some dinner. I think we should prepare it since both of you seem to be tired today.” Adrian stated as his good mood has not yet diminished.

“Wow! My little hero will cook me a meal. Just make sure that the kitchen will not turn into a battlefield.” Adrian’s mother teased and made all of them laugh.

“Have fun!” Mina stated as both her and Adrian went their way into the kitchen.

Adrian and Mina did make the kitchen into a battlefield but they also cleaned it up in the end before their parents came. They enjoyed dinner with smiles and a full belly and even discussed what they encountered in the live demo. It seems that their parents will officially start their Pandemonium journey tomorrow.

“If the virtual space function in that gaming pod can mimic the real world, then we can move your training in that place for now. We can also minimize the injury and go all out because it is just a virtual body. Even if only the mind is sharpened, it is still a good way to train as we can just resume it when you are fully recovered.” Adrian’s mother stated which made him shudder and laugh weakly.
