Chapter 2872: Follow Up Check Up

Adrian immediately went to Gourmet to get some nutritious food for Little Chang. He thought that the food that Gourmet cooks for Little Chang will not be eaten but he is surprised that the latter ate all of it. It seems that taste is not something Little Chang cares about as he liked the energy he could digest in the food more than the flavor.

Due to Little Chang eating deliciously in front of Gourmet, the chef whipped up all of the things that he could think about. Adrian basically waited half a day for Little Chang to eat as it engulfed all of the food despite the small body that he has. Adrian had no choice but to summon all of the soulbounds there and basically created a feast to welcome Little Chang into the family.

Adrian also looked at all of the dynamics between his soulbounds. Sirius is basically the strict but compassionate older brother. Saena is the aloof older sister that just wants to look pretty and presentable. Kanlaon is the snotty but endearing smart older brother that is like a tsundere.

Charon is an introvert and prefer to stay in a silent corner but still makes sure to make his presence known. Dodu is the hyper curious sibling that also likes to eat a lot while making a mess of things but cleans up anyways. Kimat is the extroverted brother that often gets scolded by the eldest because he sometimes takes things too far.

Wisteria is the kind sister that wants everyone to feel like they belong which is why she talks to everyone. Kenos is present but often hides in another dimension as he prefers more silence compared to Charon. Wuchang is a sneaky one that gets affection from Sirius but can be a troublemaker when he feels like it.

The entire banquet with the soulbounds is chaotic but it is incredibly fun for all of them. He even saw Wuchang pranking Kimat and the former immediately ran towards Sirius. When Sirius basically blocked Kimat, Wuchang made a silly face which triggered Kimat. Kimat tried to discipline Wuchang but the great wall of Sirius was powerful that the former did not even try.

“It seems that the oldest is doting on the youngest.” Adrian muttered as he smiled before exiting the gaming pod.

[Mina: Get an early rest because we are going to the rehabilitation center tomorrow.]

Adrian received this message from Mina while he was having a banquet with his soulbounds. He suddenly remembered that he must visit the rehabilitation center tomorrow for his check-up. The interval of check-ups has decreased ever since he could walk assisted by a skeletal frame.

Adrian is a bit excited and anxious about this next check-up because they will basically deduce from here if he still needs the steel skeletal frame assistance. Knowing that worrying too much will just mess up with his sleep, Adrian slept thinking only positive thoughts. He even played the sound of gentle rain pouring in order for him to truly sleep without problems.

“Big day, huh.” Mina stated as she is the one that came with Adrian since both of their parents are busy for some reason.

“I am already feeling nervous and you suddenly started the conversation with the words big.” Adrian muttered.

“Just do your best. This is not a race that you should finish as fast as you can. Healing is not about those who come first or how fast it is. Healing is all about your own time because every person is unique. This is already a verified fact in this decade which is why even twins have different neural responses inside a gaming pod.” Mina stated which made Adrian look at her.

“You seem to be reading about neural links all the time now. Why are you suddenly interested in that?” Adrian asked.

“Since you are almost fully recovered, I guess telling you now is not a problem. Do you remember being very excited when you heard about Pandemonium? You were so excited about it releasing and such that you practically did all the chores. You were so excited but you suddenly lost all interest when that happened.” Mina stated which made the atmosphere in the car a bit gloomy.

“You do not need to avoid it because I already processed it. I attended three months of mental therapy for that one. Of course, I might get attacks here and there if a sudden large thing that resembles a bus comes at me but it is not as intense as before. Anyways, do not tell me that you were the real reason why mom and dad bought the gaming pod for me?” Adrian stated but Mina just smiled.

Mina was not there when Adrian got caught up in the accident but she was there when her little brother woke up. The light that colored his eyes vanished when he woke up as if he lost all will to live. It took a while but he became a little of his usual self after the therapy sessions. Still, Mina has yet to see the genuine smile that her brother has.

Mina likes the way her brother smiles because he does not know how to smile in a fake way. She has also been crowded by people with fake smiles that she became sick of that life. She even made sure to avoid high profile parties and would volunteer in reserves around the world. In fact, Adrian did not know that Mina went away in order to search for ways to help him recover.

The reserves that Mina went to were all research camps that basically research medicine. Medicine that could regenerate bones and repair damaged body parts but she just told Adrian that it was all for pleasure. She did not want Adrian to know that she is diving to dangerous reserves for him to recover his previous way of life.

Mina knew that Adrian is the type of person that does not want his family to sacrifice for him. He actually told them that he is fine with not walking as long as they remained together. Of course, Mina did not want her brother to remain that way forever because he was young. She proceeded to sponsor researches all around the world to find a cure for what ails Adrian.

She even burned through half of the fortune she accumulated just for some success. At this point in time, the virtual reality gaming pod’s research about helping neural related sickness has yet to appear which is why she opted for this approach. When the research about helping neural challenged individuals appeared, she was actually the first one to suggest it to their parents.

Ever since Adrian was discharged from the hospital, he went back to his usual self but something in him was missing. Mina remembered how excited Adrian was when he mentioned about the game called Pandemonium. Since even she had not gotten any breakthrough despite the funding she provided, she decided to bet on the gaming pod even though only preliminary researches have only been published.

She managed to see pictures of her brother smiling brightly which is why she went home with haste. Their parents updated her of what was happening and that Adrian could be seen becoming livelier in the following days. Intrigued by her brother’s changes, she also tried Pandemonium and even got hooked by it. She could see the appeal as it basically is a whole new world of possibilities and fun.

“It has been such a roller coaster of emotion.” Mina whispered as she could be seen having watery eyes.

“Did you say something, sis?” Adrian asked.

“I just remembered how long it has been since I drove with you. Do you want to hit up a restaurant before we return?” Mina stated with a bright smile.

“You are already thinking about food when we have yet to arrive at the hospital. Are you suddenly having cravings again? You do know that your cravings are very infectious and I would definitely say yes. How about that place we often go to when you were in high school? The one that sells those shaved ice snacks since it is so hot these days.” Adrian replied with a smile.

“Sure, but that will be for later. We need real food before everything else.” Mina added as a dessert is not really a good meal in itself.

“They added like chicken wings and such to that place. They said the spicy wings are to die for because they are really hot and spicy. It would pair well with the shaved ice that will be large and will have ten scoops of Ube Ice Cream.” Adrian stated as he suddenly gulped since his mouth started salivating.

“Mom and Dad might reprimand us if we ate that much. Anyways, they said that they were busy with something but do you know what?” Mina asked.

“I have no idea as well but they were renovating Dad’s study room for some reason.” Adrian replied.
