Chapter 2852: Rumblings in Alfheim
Chapter 2852: Rumblings in Alfheim
As Adrian was busy with the reclamation of the port city, Levin Cloud, Vayu, and Soleil were all in a place in Alfheim called the Middle Realm. The middle realm is a place where it is considered as a neutral zone. A place where the Faekin and the Elementals can meet without being at each other’s throats.
One would think that the Faekin and the Elementals are all at peace because they live in Alfheim but that is not the case. The Faekin likes to be with nature and take care of the Great World Tree and receive its blessings. The Elementals, on the other hand, are free spirited and could care less about other beings as long as the Great World Tree is alive.
The World Tree is how elementals are born after all but only a Tree of Life that has lived at least fifty years could create elementals. The World Tree in Neo Alfheim cannot produce elementals but they can be empowered under its shade. The Faekin are often terrorized by the pranks of the Elementals which is why they are not in good terms but still cordial that they can talk with each other as long as there is no funny business.
All of the Elemental Kings currently living in Alfheim and the Faekin Royalty and Elders are present in the Middle Realm. This place is the only place in all of Alfheim where the blessing of the Great World Tree cannot reach which is why it is barren. All of the beings that came here cannot properly manifest mana to a degree which is why only beings with high persona can come here.
“We have been waiting for far too long here. What is the important announcement that you wish to say to us!” The Elemental King of Fire shouted as her body burned hot and flames erupted from it.
“Surely, you did not summon us here in this wretched ground because you just felt like it. We, Elementals, have things that we need to do!” The Elemental King of Wind stated as his body released a gust of wind that blew on all of the faces of the Faekin present.
“Such unruly punks as always.” Elder Danaya stated as she clapped her hand and the fire was put our and the wind dispersed.
“We did not call you here because we just felt like it. Unlike the rest of you, the Fae are busy maintaining the balance of nature. We do not just create thunderstorms or make a volcano explode just because we feel like it. We came here today to say the announcement that the Great Mother has told us.” The Fairy King stated as his expression is incredibly grave and serious.
“I apologize for the behavior of the others. They are influenced by the elements in terms of personality. Tell us, what did the great mother want to say that you even called for us here?” The Elemental King of Light asked with a courteous voice.
“The Great Mother has informed us of her impending death. We have three months to leave Alfheim as she will not be able to endure anymore of the attack on her roots. The great evil that sleeps below has awakened a few weeks ago and has already weakened the Great Mother.” The Fairy King stated which angered all of the Elemental Kings and the elemental magic in their bodies became so intense that they might create an Elemental Catastrophe.
“All of you are so pompous about guarding the Great Mother and yet here you are telling us that she is dying! She is the core of this world and the only one that could hold it together! If the Great Mother withers and dies then all of Alfheim will turn to dust.” The previously calm and collected Elemental King of Water shouted as she lost her composure.
“ENOUGH!” Levin Cloud’s voice resounded and all of the mana being emitted by the elemental kings suddenly dispersed as if it was nothing.
Levin Cloud used his authority over life to dispel the raging mana of the elementals. One could say that they were emitting mana related to miasma as their anger corrupted the elemental mana they emitted. He merely released a powerful purification spell that also dispelled the unruly mana in the area. His interference shocked the Elemental Kings because they could not believe that a Faekin was as powerful as them.
“Thank you for the intervention, Mediator. As we said, this is the words of the Great Mother as the Primordial Beast Nidhogg has already awakened.” The Fairy King stated.
“If that is the case then why not call upon us to rally an army to march to the roots of the Great Mother to destroy the Primordial Beast Nidhogg? We would be powerful if we all rallied against that primordial beast.” The Elemental King of the Earth stated but two of the oldest elemental kings could only look with a pained expression.
“Did I say something wrong?” The Elemental King of Earth asked the Elemental King of Light and Elemental King of Darkness.
“I know that most of the Elemental Kings here are fairly young but I did not expect that they did not know about the Primordial Beast Nidhogg. It seems that the two of the original generation did not tell them about the terror that gnaws at the roots of the Great World Tree.” The Fairy King stated as he looked at the Elemental King of Light and Elemental King of Darkness.
“I know that all of you tend to be lax and go with what is the present but to think it was this problematic.” Elder Danaya stated as she also found it troublesome that the other elemental kings do not even know their opponent.
“Tell us then. Do not leave us hanging in the dark!” The Elemental King of Fire shouted.
“Tone down your voices as you all are at fault for not listening to us when we wanted a discussion. If all of you spared us a few minutes and convened when we agreed then all of this might have been avoided.” The Elemental King of Darkness stated with a sigh.
“We have let them do what they wanted because we restricted the prior generations of elemental kings. It is now biting us back because we did not drag them to at least know the history of why we are here.” The Elemental King of Light stated.
“At least, the older ones know when they are at fault. Since they failed to educate you then I shall be the one that does so. The Primordial Beast Nidhogg cannot be damaged with elemental magic because it is immune to it. Battling it is purely suicidal for beings that control the elements like you.
You could even say that the Primordial Beast Nidhogg will just take you in as food because that is what it eats. The Primordial Beast Nidhogg is not gnawing on the roots of the Great Mother Tree because it likes trees. It is gnawing at the roots of the Great Mother Tree because it is where the elemental mana is the richest. Eating the roots is just another side dish for it.” Elder Danaya stated which terrified the elemental kings that were proud of their elements.
Just as Elder Danaya was educating the Elemental Kings, the entirety of Alfheim suddenly shook. All of the beings felt the ground beneath them tremble. The tremors have been going on for the fast few days but this one was more powerful than the others. The tremors that usually last only two to three seconds suddenly spiked to ten seconds.
“Check on the Great Mother now! Use the teleportation scroll that we got from the Daemos.” The Fairy King commanded as one of his attendants bowed before ripping the scroll and vanish.
“It stopped.” Elder Danaya stated but her face contorted as she knows that something major must have happened.
“The tremors happen because the Great Mother Tree and the Primordial Beast Nidhogg are battling it out on the depths of this world.” The Fairy King stated.
“If that is the case then why are you not there fighting with her?” The Elemental King of Light asked as he knows that the Faekin Royalty would sacrifice their lives to save the Great Mother Tree.
If the Elementals cannot harm the Primordial Beast Nidhogg then the Faekin will have a chance since they do not rely completely on elemental mana. Some of the Faekin are warriors and mages that use non-elemental mana. They will be able to aide the Great Mother Tree in suppressing the Primordial Beast Nidhogg.
“We have told the Great Mother that we wish to fight with her but she already told us that we will just be throwing our lives for nothing. The Primordial Beast Nidhogg has already reached the realm of a High God according to the Great Mother. It seems that something must have triggered its evolution.” The Fairy King stated with a look of defeat.
