Chapter 2804: The Origin of Summoning Magic I
Adrian immediately thought of something that might be related to the creation of Summoning Magic. In essence, Summoning Magic is a type of covenant between two souls as well. The spells that are the base for Summoning Magic are Summon and Seal.
The Summon spell calls forth the being that is connected to you via their soul. It is also a powerful magic spell that basically tears apart of your soul and merges it with the being that you have a covenant with. After all, becoming a soulbound monster meant that both of you share the same ideals and vision. It could be that both have a bond or that both just want to become stronger.
The reason that it is a covenant is due to the fact that the Summoner could also be unable to fulfill their end of the bargain. If a soulbound feels that its summoner no longer cares or does anything for their contract, the soulbound could then destroy the contract which would weaken both parties but the summoner more. It is also the reason why the summoner needs a few days to weeks of rest if a soulbound breaks their contract.
This is also a safety measure for the soulbound as they can opt out of the contract if they feel they are not being properly taken care of. A summoner that has soulbounds breaking their contracts are summoners that basically failed. The soulbound contract could also be destroyed if the summoner is at the end of their lives while their soulbounds could live for longer.
Summoners could extend their lives by having soulbounds that have large lifespans but that does not give them the right to live as long as their soulbounds. The soulbounds could also choose to die with their summoner as their souls are tied as one. They could just deny the breaking of the contract if the summoner dies.
The Seal spell is what decides the contract details as this is where the summoner promises something for the soulbound in exchange for their help. The summoner gets the soulbound’s powers while the soulbound becomes basically immortal while tied to the contract. The soulbound will not die if they die in battle but will live as long as the summoner is still alive.
The contract does not mean that the soulbound is basically Immortal once they become summonable. They can still receive damage to their souls if they die continuously but the brunt of the pain is given to the summoner. This is a contract that should be equal since the soulbound died while in battle then the contractor should feel the pain in their soul. This is the reason why a dead soulbound cannot be summoned for a few hours or even days since they need to recuperate their souls.
Adrian immediately knew that Telos must have talked to the gods of life and death regarding this magic. He might be able to see the souls of others which might be a power born from his birth but the creation of Summoning Magic surely had inspiration from the gods of life and death. A magic that literally fused the souls of beings or at least congregated the souls of other beings to one vessel.
The power of a Summoner is also equivalent to the power of their soul. A more powerful soul means that they can have more contracts with a soulbound. The job class advancements of a summoner basically reinforce their souls which is why you get two extra slots for soulbounds if you become a higher job class summoner. Telos must have incremented this special function when he created Summoning Magic which is why job class advancements for summoners tend to be slightly more difficult.
“Wow! This Honey Cake is really superb!” Boulder shouted as crumbs could be seen on his lips.
“Even though he is eating like a sloppy pig, I fully agree. Even the chefs at home cannot contend with the deliciousness of this cake.” Bloom stated as she took a sip of the warmed milk.
“I am glad that all of you liked it. You can have seconds but no more as it will spoil your appetites for dinner. I can pack both of you some to deliver back home if you want.” Iremia stated with a smile.
“Yes, please!” Boulder enthusiastically replied.
“I would appreciate that as well. Thank you.” Bloom replied.
“Wonderful. Just rest up while I pack up some slices for both of you. I will also give some to your guards.” Iremia stated as she went inside to pack up the honey cakes.
“Wow! You really trained Vio very well. It even acts like us sometimes and is very well behaved.” Bloom stated as she found that Vio actually did not scurry at all times like other pets from high class families.
“Vio is a bit special since he can understand what we say. Also, I can also understand what he says as well. Did I not tell in class earlier that I know how to speak with other creatures?” Adrian replied.
“I really thought that you were just bragging that creatures like you but the fact that the Capricorns showed their love to you without harming you is proof. You must be a Capricorn Whisperer! You can have unlimited glasses of this delicious Capricorn Milk!” Boulder stated which made Adrian and Bloom chuckle.
“But can you really understand what they say? As in they register to your ears as words?” Bloom asked in curiosity.
“Yes, but that only applies if the other creatures can speak coherently. There are times where I can only understand gibberish. There are some unintelligible creatures after all.” Adrian replied.
“That is such a cool super power. I only have my bottomless belly as a super power.” Boulder stated.
“Do not be too hard on yourself, Boulder. I can see that you have great fundamentals but it seems something is just blocking you from showing it yourself.” Adrian stated as he can clearly see that Boulder’s soul is shining brightly which means he has great talent.
“How do you know that he has great talent? All I see is that he is hungry every day.” Bloom stated.
“You have great talent too. I can see it as well. Even if both of you do not believe me right now but it will definitely be true in the future. Just believe in yourselves and work hard because sometimes it is ourselves that stop us from becoming the star that shines the brightest.” Adrian stated which made a mark in the hearts of both Boulder and Bloom as they could feel the sincerity in those words.
“Sometimes, I do not feel like you are a kid.” Bloom stated as she happily chatted with the others until it was time for them to go home.
“Bye! See you tomorrow for class.” Adrian stated.
“See you as well.” Boulder and Bloom replied with their take home honey cakes.
“The friends that you made are very nice and have a good heart. Make sure to cherish and take care of them.” Iremia stated.
“You do not have to tell me that, mom.” Adrian stated with a heavy heart as he knows that this is just a simulated past and that they have already died.
“At least you know. Also, your father will be back in two days. There will also be no school that day which means you can play with him.” Iremia stated.
“Why is father away for too long?” Adrian asked as it is already two weeks from the timeline that Telos’ Father is away from home.
“There have been some problems in the sky above. Your father and the other Asmodians are currently monitoring it. Do not worry as this is just part of his job.” Iremia stated but Adrian could already get hints that there might have been signs at this time that dark gods are appearing.
“Okay then. I do have another question, mom.” Adrian stated.
“You really are a curious one. Sure, you can ask your mother for anything! She knows everything!” Iremia stated.
“What do you know about this cloudy thing that covers other people, mom? I can see this smoke like thing coating around other people. This also disappears when they die just like when one of your plants died. The plant lost its color when it died.” Adrian stated as this is how a child should convey things about the soul.
Iremia could be seen with visible shock on her face as she already knew what Telos was talking about. She already knew that her son seems to have a power that transcended her understanding of life. She already had her doubts that her son has something she was keeping but she did not think that it would be about the ability to see the souls of other beings.
“That thing should be what we call a soul, my son. I think we can visit the Goddess of Life Gaea tomorrow if you want to learn more.” Iremia stated.
