Item Effects:

-Gives the owner of the trinket the ability to stay a bit warmer even in the northern continent.

-Gives the owner of the trinket a 5% speed boost when traversing the northern continent.

-Gives the owner a buff that reduces stamina consumption by 5% when traversing the northern continent.

Description: A trinket crafted by the people of the northern continent as a way to give thanks to people that have helped them. It is imbued with their belief that friends should always help each other. If given with a friendly heart to others, the positive effects of the charm will activate. If stolen or given with malice, then this will curse the owner of the trinket.

“Thank you very much. We need to be on our way as time is not on our side.” Adrian stated as the others also said their farewells.

“Please be careful.” Village Chief Taran stated.

“Have gained full control, Charon?” Adrian asked.

“I have gained almost perfect control master. I can make the puppet run and we shall follow.” Charon replied as he looked like a puppet master that is controlling the Frost Elf Scout using his chains as strings.

“Lead the way.” Adrian commanded as the Frost Elf Scout suddenly sprinted in an abnormally fast speed.

“It is fast. Let us go. Sirius!” Adrian stated as he summoned Sirius as a mount for him and Frey.

Peridot summoned her mount as it actually could equal Sirius’ speed when it is clad with lightning. Frey was a bit shy that she is sitting with Adrian, but she knew that her mount is not as fast as Sirius. Vayu and Soleil had no problems traversing the landscape though as the former could easily glide through the winds as he is the storm itself.

“It still amazes me that the old man can fly through the wind without any resistance.” Adrian stated.

“Coming from a kid that summons beasts of mass destruction? You really should be amazed by your own feats instead of mine.” Vayu stated jokingly.

The Frost Elf Scout that Charon possessed moved incredibly fast in the snow as if it is just normal solid ground. If Adrian were to describe it, then one step from him is equivalent to five to eight steps of the Frost Elf Scout. He also noticed that the cold winds of the northern continent do not impede the Frost Elf Scout.

“Master, it seems the puppet’s vital heat is dropping significantly.” Charon reported.

As soon as Charon reported the drop of body heat from the Frost Elf Scout, Adrian suddenly looked at the outer parts of the captive’s body. The Frost Elf Scout is not losing health but there are layers of frost on his body. Adrian wanted to learn why but Charon suddenly gave him the answers as another weakness of the Frost Elves came to light.

“To think that beings that can easily live here are afraid of losing body heat. Does that not sound contradictory?” Frey stated.

“It does but they are still alive and any beings that have life should have at least some forms of heat in their body. The heat in one’s body is basically one of the physical manifestations of their life force. Only undead are beings that do not have the traditional life force as they are dead in a sense.” Adrian added.

“Protect him from the effects of the cold, Charon. We cannot have him die on us when we have yet to reach our destination.” Adrian stated.

“Master, we are now entering the secret path they use.” Charon reported as all of them received a system notification.

[Snow Walker gives the buff owner the ability to walk through snow easily. This buff can only activate when you are in the northern continent.]

[You have entered the Path of Unrelenting Snow.]

The Path of Unrelenting Snow is a secret path used and created by the first Frost High Elves. It is a special path that can only be traversed when a Frost Elf is part of the group. Even if the Frost Elf in question is being forced against their will, this achievement will also be activated as long as they physically walk inside the path. Levin Cloud did not get this buff as he was frozen solid when his captors used this path.

“Interesting. I cannot see anything around us. The only thing that I can see is snow and one long path.” Adrian exclaimed as they sort of entered a special space that can be described as a spatial corridor or bridge.

“Master, we must hurry as we only have five minutes to traverse this path, or we will be frozen like those beings.” Charon stated as he pointed at bundles of snow.

Soleil’s heat melted through some of the snow to reveal the poor monsters that are frozen in ice. They were trapped here in the Path of Unrelenting Snow because they failed to exit in a small span of time. Adrian also realized that parts of his body is being covered in a thin layer of frost which meant that the space itself is dangerous as it could affect him despite his powerful body that regulates temperature well.

“Let us hurry!” Adrian commanded as they only moved straight without looking back at the numerous ice bundles that are likely poor victims of this place.

“Do we even have enough power to do the ritual?” The Frost High Elf Warrior Leader asked the Frost High Elf Mage Leader.

“Even with all our captives, it is not enough to do it. Unless you plan on sacrificing some of us then we will need to wait for the snow moon that will appear tonight. That is the only time when the Winter Tree is weakened enough where we can siphon some of its life force to cast the spell. I shall start with the preparation for the mind control of the Forest Guardian. Make sure to not bother me while I am in the mental space.” The Frost High Elf Mage Leader stated.

“Make sure that you control the Forest Guardian as he is the only one here. We do not have the luxury of failure because that will also mean the death of all of us. We can no longer hold the curse at bay even with sacrifices as the Winter Tree has already developed a tolerance for the blood of the Frost Elemental King.” The Frost High Elf Warrior Leader stated.

“It is not that the tree has gained resistance. The blood of the northern people is no longer as pure as it used to be. This is because all of you hunted down those that were almost half elementals and did not let them repopulate.” The Frost High Elf Mage Leader stated as she created a magic circle with her and Levin Cloud inside of it.

Just as the Frost High Elf Mage Leader stated, the purity of the blood running through the people of the northern continent is not longer as powerful as before. When the Frost High Elves learned of the existence of the humans with the blood of the Frost Elemental King and its uses, almost all of the powerful figures were abducted and sacrificed to the Winter Tree. This time is when the Frost Elves even became a strong force in the northern continent.

This is also the source of the legend that they abduct people of the northern continent because all they captured is sacrificed to the Winter Tree. The sacrificial spell managed to weaken the curse that afflicted them to the point that they almost did not feel it. The Frost Elves would have been powerful, but the duration of the sacrificial spell was not long. The duration depended on the blood purity of the sacrificed individual.

When they sacrificed the Great Mother Winter, they earned five years of relief but that was the longest duration ever. The succeeding sacrifices only offered less than that until they could only prolong the relief for a day. The powerful society of the Frost Elves back then crumbled once more as they could not relieve themselves of the effects of the curse.

“Should the sacrifices be insufficient, the other high elves will be enough. As long as I am alive, I can become the king once the other two are eliminated.” The Frost High Elf Warrior Leader thought as he walked towards the Winter Tree to recover the power of frost in his blade that he used up earlier.

“I will be queen as I will control the winter tree once I control the Forest Guardian.” The Frost High Elf Mage Leader thought as she sat cross legged.

“Only a few more hours and all of it will be mine.” The Frost High Elf Ranger Leader thought as he also set his sights on being the king.
