Seeing the main figure appear, the Little House Lord of Bone Painting Tower no longer made things difficult for the Patrol Station Captain who offended him.

Though this person’s status was not high, he was nonetheless a member of the Patrol Defense Office, and killing him openly would cause trouble.

A moment later, as Mr. Bai withdrew his hand, that captain seemed like a deflated balloon, stumbling and falling to his knees, utterly exhausted. He was soon supported and taken away by several teammates.

“Chief Wei, your Patrol Defense Office has unreasonably intercepted my Bone Painting Tower’s convoy, this is not in line with the rules.” Mr. Bai appeared young, but his voice could not conceal its weariness, clearly indicating he was an old monster.

“Mr. Bai, you openly attack my Patrol Defense Office’s personnel, that is also against the rules.” Wei Chen retorted calmly.

“You were the ones who obstructed our convoy first. Now that our Mr. Bai is here, I warn you, do not be too reckless with your actions!” The first cadre to get off the leading vehicle shouted sharply.

This person was relatively young, with a large braid at the back of his head, dressed in a mix of Eastern and Western attire, exuding an extremely arrogant demeanor.

He was a captain stationed in Yiling City for Bone Painting Tower, chosen to lead the way for such a significant figure due to his familiarity with the local terrain.

This was his first interaction with such high-level individuals since joining Bone Painting Tower, so he naturally wanted to make a good impression and leave a favorable mark on his superiors.

He did not know Chief Wei but found the man’s arrogance infuriating. Reflecting on how their stationed members had been suppressed by the Patrol Defense Office for years, he couldn’t help but leap out.

But clearly, he had picked the wrong target this time.

He quickly sensed something was amiss because after he pointed at the opponent’s nose and shouted, the atmosphere instantly turned cold.

The man called Chief Wei slowly shifted his gaze, staring at him expressionlessly, and not only that, but the eyes of dozens, hundreds of people were focused on him.

He was just a grassroots team captain who threatened others with the banner of Bone Painting Tower in everyday life and had never seen such a scene, feeling immense pressure like a mountain upon him, so frightened he couldn’t speak.

The most awkward thing was, the hand pointing at someone in defiance could neither continue pointing—he dared not—nor put it down, as that would be too humiliating, leaving the situation awkwardly halted.

“What’s your name?” Wei Chen didn’t speak, but the young man with white hair beside him suddenly asked.

The braided man was not very smart, but not foolish either, understanding that being asked his name at such a time certainly wasn’t for gift-giving or friendship.

School-favored brothers knew well that typically, the next phrase following this question would be, “I’ll remember you, see you after school if you dare.”

The next moment, without waiting for Qu Muzhi to teach him a lesson, the braided man began screaming himself, actually forcibly breaking his left arm pointing at Chief Wei’s nose with his right hand in front of everyone.

Everyone could see that this wasn’t voluntary on his part, as no human could make such an inhumane gesture willingly; just like the Patrol Defense Office’s captain earlier, he was controlled, like a puppet on strings.

And the one on site who could achieve this was naturally Mr. Bai.

“Such unruly behavior.” Mr. Bai exchanged a glance, and instantly a subordinate stepped forward, rudely dragging away the still-howling braided man.

“Chief Wei, today is the wedding day of Dean Sheng’s adopted daughter and my eldest brother’s adopted daughter; we are here to celebrate. This is a family matter, and I hope you can give me face and accommodate us.” Mr. Bai raised both arms, elbows extended outward, performing a standard salute toward Chief Wei.

“Mr. Bai, it’s not that I’m unwilling to accommodate you; it’s that national affairs outweigh family matters.”

“We have received concrete intelligence that a group of High-level Evil Cultivators is lurking in Yiling City. The city is now under lockdown, and my Patrol Defense Office forces are conducting a sweep inside. I hope you understand,” Wei Chen explained seriously.

“What kind of Evil Cultivators need the attention of such a High-ranking official like Chief Wei? You’re not targeting Yiling Academy, are you?” Mr. Bai, seeing that soft methods weren’t working, started losing patience.

“This time the entire city is being swept, and Yiling Academy is naturally no exception. So, does Mr. Bai have information—could the Evil Cultivators really be hiding in Yiling Academy?” Wei Chen maintained his business-like cold demeanor.

“Chief Wei, don’t be so unfeeling.” During the conversation, a figure appeared by Mr. Bai’s side, one hand held behind his back, standing shoulder to shoulder.

The newcomer was an elderly man past his prime, with hair mostly white with frost and only a few strands of black remaining at the temples, neatly groomed.

The elder wore a well-tailored dark blue Chinese-style stand-collar Tang suit, straight gray pants below, and black soft-soled cloth shoes, looking quite amiable like a well-off retiree.

Yet peculiarly, his left arm was severed at the root, leaving only a singular elongated right arm, resembling not just the kind that reaches down beyond the waistline; if not held upward, it would make one suspect it might extend down to the ground like an orangutan, with a worn jade ring on his thumb.

But those knowledgeable wouldn’t perceive this elderly man lightly, for he bore an honored title as the Vice President of the United Federation, Pei Yan.

To the somewhat aged people in the martial arts world, the name Pei Yan might sound unfamiliar; compared to the name, they were more acquainted with his nickname, Life-taking Yama.
