Chapter 37: Chapter 37 - Jealousy jealousy

Ying Di bowed to him before turning around and gesturing for Jua Gu to follow him. As Jua stepped inside, his eyes immediately landed on the messy room behind him. The bed was left in complete disarray, with clothes scattered all over the floor as if someone had simply thrown them aside without a second thought.

Jua sighed and rubbed his forehead.

Yes, a corpse puppet was technically a dead thing, but some corpses could retain a little of the intelligence and habits they had possessed while they were alive. That was what made them easier to control. But strangely enough, Ying Di seemed to have retained absolutely none of that intelligence.

He was still a bumbling fool, just as he had been when he was alive.

"Have the servants clean your room. It’s too messy. And change your clothes before you go outside."

Ying Di blankly lowered his gaze toward the blood-soaked clothes he was still wearing. After staring at them for a moment, he simply nodded.

The man then walked over to the corner where his clothes had been piled up and picked up a shirt. Without the slightest hesitation or embarrassment, he immediately stripped naked right in front of Jua’s eyes.

Jua could only sigh as he watched the corpse puppet change.

There was really no saving this fool.

"Jua-ge..."

Ying Mao’s voice suddenly came from behind him.

Jua froze.

The boy, already dressed in his school uniform, was standing in the doorway with a look of complete shock on his face. His eyes were wide as he stared past Jua.

Jua’s expression changed instantly. He quickly stepped in front of Ying Mao, blocking his view before the boy could see anything else.

"What are you doing here...?"

He instinctively clutched the front of his shirt, suddenly feeling as though he had been caught doing something suspicious.

Ying Mao blinked innocently before looking up at him.

"Jua-ge... will you drop me off at school, please? Please..." He tugged lightly at Jua’s sleeve and put on his best pleading expression.

Jua glanced back.

Ying Di had already managed to put on his pants and was now struggling with the buttons of his shirt, his movements stiff and awkward. Jua stared at him for a moment before quickly looking back at Ying Mao.

"Um... yeah. Yeah, I can drop you off."

Ying Mao’s eyes slipped past him again, landing on his older brother.

Ying Di’s muscular back was completely visible as he struggled with his clothes, and Ying Mao’s gaze slowly narrowed. He then looked down at his own arm.

Slim.

Lanky.

Definitely not muscular.

A strange thought suddenly appeared in his mind.

Does Jua-ge like muscular bodies...? Is that why he keeps looking at Di-ge?

Ying Mao bit his lip anxiously.

He didn’t even understand why the thought bothered him so much, but the more he imagined Jua paying attention to Ying Di, the more uncomfortable he became.

Very, very uncomfortable.

And for some reason, he was starting to feel very, very angry.

Jua gazed at the corpse puppet, who was still staring blankly at the buttons as if they were some complicated puzzle he had never seen before. No matter how long he looked at them, he seemed completely incapable of figuring out what he was supposed to do.

Sighing loudly, Jua walked over and took over. He reached down to help Ying Di button up his pants, only for a smaller hand to suddenly grab his wrist.

"J-Jua-ge... let me..." Ying Mao hurriedly reached forward. "I can reach his pants..."

He carefully helped fasten the buttons, his movements a little clumsy because of his height. Once he finished, his glaring eyes immediately lifted toward Ying Di, who was simply staring blankly down at him.

Ying Mao frowned.

"Does he really not know what’s happening to him?"

"Hmm..." Jua tilted his head as he considered it. "Think of him as a doll. You can dress him up, play with him, and even take him out for a drive."

Jua said it so casually that Ying Mao’s expression became even more complicated.

His little hand tightened around one of the buttons on Ying Di’s shirt as he looked up at Jua.

"Will you play with him more than with me?"

Jua stared at him for a second before suddenly bursting into laughter.

"Pfft... hahaha!"

He reached over and ruffled the boy’s hair.

"No, no. I’ll only play with you."

Ying Mao pouted, clearly satisfied with the answer but still unwilling to show it too easily. He continued buttoning the buttons he could reach, carefully fastening them one by one. Once he reached the higher ones that were too far above his height, he reluctantly stepped aside and let Jua take over.

Jua glanced at the little boy before quietly finishing the job, a faint smile lingering on his face.

Having a cute kid lingering around him was actually quite fun. Back when Jua had been a disciple, he had always been the youngest one, so he had never had anyone younger than him to guide or take care of. He had always been the one following behind others.

But now things were different.

This kid... Ying Mao was going to be his sworn younger brother from now on.

The thought brought a small smile to Jua’s face. He gestured for Ying Di to follow them as they headed downstairs.

The moment the servants spotted Jua walking out with Ying Di, they immediately tried to hide. All of them scattered in different directions, except for the butler, who stood frozen in place, sweating buckets.

"The madam and master will be home this afternoon, sir. Why don’t you... stay here instead?" he asked nervously, his eyes darting between Jua and Ying Di as if he were afraid of what might happen if he let them leave.

Jua simply shrugged.

"I’m going to drop Ying Mao off at school. Let Madam and Master wait for my return."

He then glanced at Ying Di before suddenly grabbing the man’s arm.

"Oh, right. Ying Di will be driving us. You have a license, right, Ying Di?"

Ying Di nodded without hesitation.

"I’ll drive you both."

The butler’s face stiffened even more.

Jua, however, paid him no attention.

Ying Mao quickly squeezed himself between the two of them and grabbed Jua’s arm tightly. He then reached out with his other hand and tugged at Ying Di’s sleeve.

"Let’s go, brother."

He began pulling both of them toward the door as if he couldn’t wait another second to get them out of the house.

Jua raised an eyebrow as he watched the boy.

This kid...

He was already showing jealousy at such a young age?

The corners of Jua’s lips slowly lifted into a smile as he watched Ying Mao stubbornly drag them along.

Why is he so cute...?
