Chapter 1373: Anastasia, Eldraker and Akasha (Part 2)

Turoon felt a wave of invisible pressure engulf him, as if a mountain were pressing down on his chest.

Evan had thought it would be difficult for Turoon to give him an immediate answer. But to his surprise, the dragon did not hesitate even for a moment before replying.

“I will undoubtedly side with Lady Anastasia…” He said in a firm voice.

“In fact, most of the older dragons from my generation who have seen Lady Anastasia would undoubtedly choose her over Eldrakar.”

“Oh?” Evan’s footsteps paused as he looked at him with interest. “Why do you say that?”

Turoon remained silent for a moment before speaking in a serious tone.

“It’s because, to us dragons, Lady Anastasia is not just a ruler—she is the very symbol of our faith. She is the strongest among us, and more importantly, she has done far too much for the dragon clan. It was under her leadership that our clan became so prosperous and rose to become one of the most powerful clans in all of Utopia.”

“Heh…” Evan sneered in disdain when he heard Turoon’s words.

“Do you really think I will believe your bullshit? From what I know, the betrayal of your dragon clan was one of the reasons Anastasia fell into such a dire situation at that time.”

Turoon opened his mouth to say something, but no words came out as he knew Evan was right.

Although not all dragons were involved in that incident, it was true that the betrayal of a few high-ranking dragons had caused it to happen.

Evan stared at Turoon’s ever-changing expressions, feeling a growing curiosity within himself.

He had asked Anastasia a few times about what had happened back then, but she never told him anything. She always brushed it off, saying it was all in the past and no longer mattered to her.

From her tone and the way she spoke, Evan could tell that she truly did not care about what had happened anymore.

Although he remained deeply curious about those events, since she neither cared about it nor wished to speak of it, Evan had stopped asking her.

But now, looking at Turoon before him, he suddenly realized that if he could not get answers from Anastasia, he could simply ask someone else.

Just as he was thinking this, Turoon finally spoke.

“I know it may sound like an excuse, but at that time, most of us did not even know what had happened. Everything was planned and executed by Eldrakar, Akasha, and some of their close allies.”

Evan’s eyes narrowed when he heard Eldrakar’s name among those involved.

As far as he knew, it was only after Anastasia left with Azroth that Eldrakar became the new ruler of the dragons.

When Anastasia was still living in the Dragon Islands, Eldrakar had been nothing more than a regular Rank Six Void Dragon without any real authority. With Anastasia present, the command of the entire dragon clan had rested solely in her hands.

To hear that it was him who had conspired with Akasha left Evan puzzled as he could not understand how someone with so little influence at the time had managed to orchestrate everything.

“What are you talking about? Explain everything to me clearly.”

Seeing Evan looking at him with a puzzled gaze, Turoon assumed he was confused about what he just said and began to elaborate.

“As you know, Lady Anastasia and Akasha used to be good friends, or so everyone believed. Lady Anastasia always considered Akasha a friend, but that snake woman had completely different intentions.” He paused briefly before continuing.

“Lady Anastasia is a very unique existence in the entire Utopia. There are no other progenitors in this world besides her. Coincidentally, because of her Monarch Core, Akasha, despite being a World-Swallowing Snake, a race that is rare but not unheard of, possessed a bloodline that was not inferior to Lady Anastasia’s. In fact, it even shared some similarities with those of top-level dragons.”

Turoon smiled bitterly at this point and shook his head.

“It was because of that similarity to the dragon bloodline that Lady Anastasia and Akasha became friends. But who could have known that the real reason Akasha befriended her was solely because she wanted to devour her bloodline and evolve further.”

Evan’s eyes gleamed with a cold light when he heard that Akasha had intended to devour Anastasia’s bloodline, but he did not interrupt.

“On the day of the incident, Lady Anastasia had invited Akasha to a celebratory banquet held in honor of the fifth anniversary of the Dragon Islands. But unknown to everyone, Akasha had been preparing for this for a long time. With Eldrakar’s help, she poisoned the food served to Lady Anastasia.”

A look of understanding flashed across Evan’s face as he finally realized why Anastasia had been poisoned in his memories when he first met her.

“If it had been a normal poison, it would have had no effect on Lady Anastasia. But that poison was something Akasha had created herself. And as you know, in the entire Utopia, there is no one who can rival Akasha when it comes to poison.”

Turoon shook his head again and sighed.

“Because Lady Anastasia was in a separate room with Akasha when the incident occurred, by the time I and the other dragons realized something was wrong, it was already too late. Lady Anastasia had already escaped using some unknown means. It was only then that we discovered Eldrakar had been working with Akasha. He even sent some of the dragons under his command to search for and capture Lady Anastasia.”

Evan could more or less guess the events that followed—that Anastasia had somehow met Azroth while fleeing and eventually became his chef.

Although he still had many questions, such as how Eldrakar had become the new ruler despite his betrayal being known but the thing that intrigued him the most was something else.

“Akasha betrayed Anastasia because she wanted her bloodline. But what about Eldrakar? Did he betray her just to become the new ruler of the dragons?”

Turoon hesitated upon hearing Evan’s question, a conflicted expression appearing on his face.

Evan’s eyes narrowed when he noticed this, sensing that Turoon was hiding something.

Seeing Evan’s gaze, Turoon finally took a deep breath before speaking in a low voice.

“It was because he wanted to marry Lady Anastasia. Akasha told him that if he helped her, she would allow him to have his way with Anastasia after she devoured her bloodline.”

Crack!

Turoon suddenly felt a chill run down his spine as a killing intent, far stronger than the one he had felt when Evan used Gaze of Monarch enveloped him.

Even the surrounding void space began to crack under the sheer intensity of that killing intent locked onto him.

“Are you telling the truth?”

Turoon’s entire body broke out in a cold sweat as he nodded frantically, like a chicken pecking at grains, overwhelmed with fear.

“Heh…”

Seeing him nod, Evan suddenly chuckled and ran a hand through his hair.

“Seems like those two bastards have long since sealed their fate.”
