Necromancer: I Am A Disaster
Chapter 878: Identity Registeration; Human Imperial Network
The registration office wasn't open year-round—it only operated once every hundred days.
Those at the very front of the queue had already been waiting for around a hundred days.
Only then did Lin Moyu realize he had misunderstood the situation. It wasn't that countless people arrived every day; rather, the current crowd represented everyone who had accumulated over the past hundred days.
Thinking about it that way, the numbers made much more sense.
Although there were countless small worlds, people didn't emerge from them every moment.
Leaving a small world was no easy feat.
During those two days, Gu Qingxuan explained many things about the human race's system.
Within human territory, a person's origin generally fell into one of two categories.
Those born in the greater world were granted an official identity at birth.
Those born in a small world, like Lin Moyu, had to report to the registration office immediately after entering the greater world.
Human experts had established arrangements outside every small world. Whenever someone emerged, a guide would be dispatched to receive them.
Serving as a guide came with generous rewards, making it a highly coveted assignment.
In Lin Moyu's case, however, God Sovereign Night Breeze had personally intervened, so no one dared to object.
As a result, the entire reward naturally went to Gu Qingxuan.
Lin Moyu also noticed that everyone waiting in line had a companion.
Those companions were the guides assigned to them.
The human race's system was highly mature. Every detail had been carefully considered, allowing the entire thing to function like a perfectly synchronized machine.
Looking back, encountering Gu Qingxuan in the small world truly seemed like fate.
The queue remained remarkably quiet. No one spoke.
Some observed their surroundings with unconcealed curiosity, while others simply sat cross-legged on the ground and meditated.
Anyone capable of leaving a small world was undoubtedly a genius, and none of them were willing to waste even a moment.
Lin Moyu had once been the same. He seized every opportunity to grow stronger, never allowing a single moment to slip by.
Only in recent years had he begun to slow down, letting his state of mind become calmer and more composed.
Two days passed in the blink of an eye. At last, the doors of the registration office slowly opened.
Everyone who had been waiting immediately became alert.
To a Transcendent God, a hundred days was hardly a long time.
A single cultivation session or period of law comprehension could easily last much longer.
The line advanced little by little.
The registration process wasn't particularly efficient, and it took nearly an entire day before Lin Moyu's turn finally arrived.
Gu Qingxuan accompanied him inside.
The interior of the registration office was surprisingly plain.
Aside from a large desk and an enormous, intricate formation, there was practically nothing else.
Behind the desk lounged a man who appeared utterly lazy.
He reclined casually in his chair, giving off an air of complete indifference. Every movement seemed sluggish, and even his voice carried a weary, listless tone.
Yet no one dared underestimate him.
The aura emanating from him far surpassed the True God realm.
He was a God King, a being far more powerful than True Gods.
Gu Qingxuan led Lin Moyu to the desk.
"Lin Moyu, from Vermilion Bird Small World No. 98-3344."
Every small world possessed a unique identification code, and this was the designation of Lin Moyu's home world.
For ease of administration, nearly every starfield, star system, and small world was assigned a numerical designation, with only a handful of exceptionally important star systems.
"Vermilion Bird" referred to the Vermilion Bird Starfield.
"98" represented the ninety-eighth inhabited star system under its jurisdiction.
The final number identified the specific small world within the inhabited star system.
In full, Lin Moyu's home was Vermilion Bird Starfield, Inhabited Star System No. 98, Small World No. 3344.
The numbering system alone made one thing obvious: Gu Qingxuan hadn't exaggerated.
Small worlds were truly as numerous as hairs on an ox
The staff member finally raised his head to glance at Lin Moyu before gesturing toward the formation.
"Step inside."
Lin Moyu walked directly to the center of the formation.
The formation immediately lit up, countless runes igniting as beams of light descended upon him.
Gu Qingxuan had already explained its purpose, so Lin Moyu remained calm and motionless while the inspection proceeded.
The formation's purpose was to verify one's identity and confirm genuine human lineage.
Long ago, a person of another race had infiltrated the human race by disguising themself as a human emerging from a small world, eventually entering the human God City.
The infiltrator had carried out acts of sabotage
havoc before ultimately being discovered and slain.
Since that incident, every individual arriving from a small world was required to undergo this inspection.
Besides confirming Lin Moyu's identity, the formation also recorded various details about him.
More than ten minutes later, the radiance gradually faded.
Lin Moyu stepped out of the formation and returned to the desk.
The man then produced a crystal no larger than a fingernail and tapped it lightly.
The crystal instantly dissolved into a strand of law that shot between Lin Moyu's brows and disappeared.
Lin Moyu felt only a faint sting before the sensation vanished completely.
The law carried no hostility; otherwise, his Bone Armor would have reacted automatically.
The man said, "Alright. Your identity registration is complete. In thirty minutes, you'll be able to access the Human Emperor Network."
He then turned toward Gu Qingxuan, "You can explain the Human Emperor Network to him."
Gu Qingxuan bowed respectfully, "I understand."
Although her grandmaster was a God Sovereign, she still showed the proper respect when facing a God King.
Lin Moyu also bowed, "Thank you, Senior."
The man waved them off, "Mm. You may leave. Next."
After leaving the registration office, Gu Qingxuan said, "Alright, you're now free to travel throughout the human territory. Let me explain the Human Emperor Network."
"It's also known as the Human Emperor Network World—a unique realm that exists somewhere between reality and illusion, created exclusively for us humans."
"As long as you're physically within human territory, you can connect to it at any time. Entering the network continuously consumes soul force, though the cost isn't significant. Even Transcendent Gods can maintain the connection for long periods."
…
As Gu Qingxuan continued her explanation, Lin Moyu gradually came to understand the Human Emperor Network's significance.
The human race of the regater world was fundamentally different from those of the small worlds.
It wasn't merely a matter of strength or experience—the Human Emperor Network itself was one of the greatest distinctions.
It spanned the entirety of human territory.
By expending a small amount of soul force, anyone could enter it.
Within the Human Emperor Network, one could comprehend laws, cultivate, accept missions, and search an enormous repository of information.
Those were only its most basic functions. Countless other features existed—far too many to explain in just a few sentences.
Lin Moyu would have to discover them himself.
Even from Gu Qingxuan's brief introduction, Lin Moyu could already tell that the invisible Human Emperor Network served as the thread binding the entire human race together.
An event occurring within the Vermilion Bird Starfield could become known across the other starfields almost instantly.
If someone encountered danger, they could issue a distress call through the network.
As long as their coordinates were provided, rescuers would immediately set out.
Even if someone was unable to determine their exact location, the network possessed tracking capabilities that could still pinpoint an approximate position.
Gu Qingxuan continued, "The Human Emperor Network is incredibly important, but its most valuable feature is Human Emperor Points."
"They're the universal currency of the human race. Whether inside the Human Emperor Network or in the real world, nearly everything requires Human Emperor Points."
"As for how to earn them, you'll find out soon enough once you enter the network, so I won't waste my breath explaining it."
By the time Gu Qingxuan finished explaining the Human Emperor Network's basic functions, half an hour had passed.
Lin Moyu suddenly felt his consciousness connect to an unfamiliar world. An endless void unfolded before his eyes.
Then, in the blink of an eye, illusion became reality as the world around him transformed into something completely tangible.
