Chapter 548: Chapter 548: Zero Probability
"Seven different Kekkei Genkai...
"Seven different chakra natures...
"What will happen when they fuse together?
"We’re not simply fusing Kekkei Genkai. We’re attempting to create a god..."
Orochimaru appeared lost in thought as he muttered to himself. It was difficult to tell whether he was confiding in Kagami or merely talking to himself.
Only then did Kagami cast Orochimaru a meaningful glance, thinking to himself, "As expected of Orochimaru!"
There was no doubt that as the Chimera Technique gradually approached perfection, Orochimaru had begun to realize what this project was ultimately aiming to achieve!
A Kekkei Genkai was the fusion of two different chakra natures, while the more powerful Kekkei Tota was the fusion of three different chakra natures.
So the question was: What would result from the fusion of all seven chakra natures?
Even now, Danzo’s subordinates in Root were still endlessly arguing over which Kekkei Genkai was stronger and which combinations of Kekkei Genkai would complement each other most effectively.
Yet they had overlooked the most important point of all: What kind of transformation would occur once all seven chakra natures truly fused together?
And that was the true key to this entire project!
Initially, Orochimaru had failed to recognize this as well, limited by his own perspective. Like Danzo and the members of Root, his vision had been confined to the fusion of Kekkei Genkai, and he had regarded the current project as nothing more than a replication of Hiruko’s bloodline fusion ritual.
However, after Kagami introduced crucial concepts such as completing the full spectrum of chakra natures and maintaining balance among them, the perceptive Orochimaru gradually realized that this project was not merely an attempt to replicate Hiruko’s bloodline fusion ritual.
Rather, it was an attempt to comprehensively surpass Hiruko’s ritual, building upon its foundation to venture into an entirely new realm.
Only after this realization did he finally understand Kamigami’s true ambition!
Pulling his wandering thoughts back, Orochimaru looked at Kagami with a hint of shock and asked in a low voice, "Is there someone in your organization who actually intends to become a god?"
Kagami lowered his head once more and resumed working on the task at hand, ignoring Orochimaru’s question.
Orochimaru frowned. "Aren’t you Kamigami afraid of playing with fire and getting burned? If Danzo reaches that realm before you do, there will be no place left for Kamigami in the shinobi world."
Kagami replied calmly, "It’s not that easy."
"Why?"
Orochimaru was somewhat puzzled. He couldn’t understand why Kagami was so certain that Danzo would fail. From his perspective, Danzo actually had a fairly substantial chance of succeeding.
Kagami glanced at Orochimaru. "If becoming a god were that easy, why would Kamigami need to cooperate with Danzo in the first place?"
Danzo would never become a ’god.’ Of this, Kagami was absolutely certain!
That was because the core of the Chimera Technique was the fusion of flesh and blood. No matter how much the technique was improved, this fundamental principle could never be changed.
Consequently, the Chimera Technique possessed a flaw that could only be described as fatal.
It could not handle souls!
Even Kagami was currently unable to fully explain the true nature of a soul.
However, there was one thing he did know: chakra served as the vessel for the soul.
In other words, a shinobi’s soul also contained a certain amount of chakra.
Since the Chimera Technique could not fuse souls, it naturally could not fuse the portion of chakra that carried those souls either.
In other words, no matter how much the Chimera Technique was improved, it could never achieve fusion in the truest and most complete sense. The impurities existing in the form of souls would forever remain an unsolvable problem during the fusion process.
Unless, of course, the subjects being fused were clones that possessed no souls of their own!
Orochimaru had clearly not fully realized this yet.
His forbidden technique, the Living Corpse Reincarnation, suffered from precisely the same oversight. Because he had neglected to address the soul aspect of the process, he had crudely sealed the souls of every shinobi whose body he had stolen within himself, causing his own soul to become fragmented and weakened.
Furthermore, Danzo’s aging physique was another fatal obstacle standing in the way of his success.
To fuse flesh and blood from five other individuals into one’s own body in a single attempt, even with the assistance of Chimera Bud, the host would need an exceptionally robust physique.
In this regard, not only was Danzo old and physically deteriorating, but his true body was also incomplete. It could even be described as being in a thoroughly battered and broken state.
Attempting to attain Kekkei Mora with a true body in such a condition was nothing short of wishful thinking.
Forget achieving Kekkei Mora—even whether he could survive the fusion ritual itself was a huge question mark.
Kagami had once privately made a bold estimate regarding his own chances.
With his current technology, even if he used his Tenseigan-bearing Yin Release true body as the core and fused it with six clones that were compatible with his bloodline and possessed no foreign souls, his hopes of attaining Kekkei Mora would still be extremely slim.
The probability was almost certainly below ten percent!
This alone demonstrated just how arduous and treacherous the path toward Kekkei Mora truly was!
Therefore, from beginning to end, Kagami had never worried about Danzo attaining Kekkei Mora.
The probability of such an outcome was zero. There was absolutely no possibility of succeeding through sheer luck.
Even if Danzo were blessed with extraordinary fortune, the best outcome he could hope for would merely be to barely survive the bloodline fusion ritual and become a partially fused being like Hiruko, riddled with serious hidden defects.
The more likely outcomes, however, were either that he would drop dead on the spot, perishing directly at the ritual site, or that he would degenerate into an unpredictable monster—a walking corpse harboring multiple personalities.
Pondering Kagami’s words, Orochimaru narrowed his eyes. "You don’t have much confidence in Danzo’s bloodline fusion ritual, do you?"
Kagami curled his lips. "I only believe in facts. And the fact is that Hiruko, who successfully completed a bloodline fusion ritual, was utterly outmatched. So while I do have certain expectations for Danzo’s upcoming ritual, that’s all they are."
"Heh, I suppose only Kamigami would dare describe Hiruko as utterly outmatched."
After chuckling, Orochimaru muttered to himself, "Perhaps I’ve been too optimistic. The realm of gods probably isn’t something we mortals can enter so easily."
By this time, Kagami had also finished the work at hand. He turned to Orochimaru and asked, "By the way, how is Danzo’s operation to capture shinobi with Kekkei Genkai progressing?"
Orochimaru replied, "Fairly smoothly, I suppose. I heard they’ve already captured three of their targets."
Although the Third Hokage had officially disbanded Danzo’s Root, Danzo still commanded a group of elite shinobi.
Moreover, there were actually quite a few shinobi possessing Kekkei Genkai wandering throughout the shinobi world. As long as their intelligence gathering was effective, capturing five suitable targets would not be particularly difficult.
"That fast?"
Kagami was somewhat surprised. He then asked, "When does Danzo intend to conduct the bloodline fusion ritual?"
Orochimaru smiled mockingly.
"I’m afraid we’ll have to wait until he takes the Hokage’s seat!"
