Chapter 547: Chapter 547: Creating a God

In truth, shinobi needed to be taught according to their individual abilities. If teachers with different teaching styles instructed the same student, the results could end up being worlds apart.

Take Sasuke, for example. He was exceptionally talented and had an extraordinary ability to grasp new concepts, allowing him to master basic techniques almost as soon as he learned them. Coupled with the sense of clan pride that gave him an unyielding determination to never admit defeat, the stronger, colder, and even more demanding a teacher was, the better the results of their instruction would be.

Examples included Shinichi, who was currently training him, and Orochimaru, who had been both his sensei and enemy in the original timeline.

Naruto, on the other hand, was different.

His ability to grasp new concepts was clearly inferior to Sasuke’s. Even basic techniques required dedicated practice before he could master them. Although he possessed tremendous potential and an exceptionally high ceiling, he needed a patient teacher willing to invest time and effort into him, carefully guiding him to draw out his potential little by little.

Teachers like Shinichi and Orochimaru were clearly unsuitable for him.

Sasuke had evidently realized that Shinichi was the right teacher for him. As a result, he was exceptionally diligent during training and harbored not the slightest resentment toward Shinichi’s reprimands and scoldings.

After retreating to the sidelines, Sasuke accepted the towel Neji handed him, wiped away his sweat, and began reflecting on several mistakes he had made during the training session.

Shinichi also slowly walked over to the sidelines. Glancing at the heavily panting Sasuke, he thought to himself, "This brat has the talent to awaken the Mangekyo Sharingan!"

Awakening the Mangekyo Sharingan did indeed require intense psychological stimulation. However, the greater one’s natural talent, the less stimulation was required, and the higher the probability of awakening it.

Shisui, for instance, had awakened his Mangekyo Sharingan after witnessing a comrade’s death on the battlefield. Yet experiences of that magnitude were extremely common among shinobi.

Just then, Neji approached Shinichi.

He first bowed respectfully before asking, "Shinichi-senpai, could you give me some guidance as well?"

Shinichi frowned, looking somewhat troubled.

Neji’s talent was actually quite remarkable, but he was not an Uchiha after all. Shinichi couldn’t instruct him the same way he instructed Sasuke.

After all, Shinichi himself was hardly a renowned teacher. He wasn’t capable of tailoring his instruction to each student’s individual abilities and circumstances.

More importantly, Hyuga Kagami had already accepted Neji as his disciple.

Shinichi had no idea whether Kagami had any special plans for Neji’s development, so he didn’t dare instruct him recklessly.

Seeing Shinichi frown, Neji assumed he was growing impatient, so he hurriedly said, "I’m very sorry. I was too presumptuous."

Unless they were particularly close relatives or elders, shinobi generally wouldn’t casually offer guidance to the younger generation.

After all, whether it was ninjutsu or combat techniques, such knowledge was an extremely precious asset to a shinobi. Some techniques even involved a clan’s inheritance and were not something to be casually revealed to outsiders.

This was also why children from prestigious shinobi clans were often more accomplished than civilian-born shinobi. The knowledge that civilian-born shinobi could acquire from their elders was far more limited than what children of prestigious clans could learn.

Shinichi shook his head. "It’s not that I’m unwilling to guide you. It’s just that I haven’t studied your Hyuga clan’s Gentle Fist, so there’s not much I can teach you."

"I was too rash."

Neji bowed once more before retreating to the side.

However, the disappointment on his face was difficult to conceal. Missing the opportunity to receive guidance from someone like Shinichi, a powerhouse standing at the pinnacle of the shinobi world, was undoubtedly painful for him.

Especially when he was watching Sasuke grow stronger at a rapid pace under Shinichi’s guidance right before his eyes.

At the other end of the training ground.

After observing Shinichi’s instruction of Sasuke, Obito said to Zetsu beside him, "It’s been several days already. The informant I recruited earlier should have made some progress by now. Send one of your clones to Konoha!"

Zetsu chuckled. "I wonder what kind of results we’ll get. I’m really looking forward to it!"

...

Inside Root’s secret laboratory.

After finalizing the five target Kekkei Genkai to be fused during their meeting, Kagami and Orochimaru began improving the final stage of the Chimera Technique and designing the ultimate ritual.

Within the enormous laboratory, the two quietly busied themselves with their respective tasks.

After an unknown amount of time had passed, Orochimaru, having finished the work at hand, stretched his neck before shifting his gaze toward Kagami at the other end of the laboratory.

In a deep voice, he asked, "Homura, aren’t you worried at all?"

"Worried about what?"

Kagami didn’t even raise his head, continuing to work on his own tasks.

Orochimaru’s gaze sharpened, and a rare expression of seriousness appeared on his face.

"You should understand better than I do exactly what we’re doing right now, shouldn’t you? Are you really not worried that Danzo might grow beyond our control because of what we’re creating?"

Initially, Orochimaru had also approached the improvement of the Chimera Technique with the intention of using Danzo as a guinea pig.

However, as he watched the Chimera Technique, which could fundamentally fuse Kekkei Genkai, gradually approach perfection, with one scientific challenge and design flaw after another being resolved, Orochimaru inexplicably began to feel afraid.

He stepped outside his established way of thinking and reexamined the project from the perspective of an observer.

And then, he was utterly astonished by the sheer greatness of the project!

Yes, even the habitually arrogant Orochimaru did not hesitate to use the word great to describe the project currently underway!

Kagami raised his head and glanced at Orochimaru before replying indifferently, "You’re overthinking it."

"Overthinking it?!" Orochimaru frowned. "According to our plan, if Danzo ultimately survives the fusion ritual, do you know how many Kekkei Genkai he’ll possess? Seven! A full seven!"

Setting aside the five powerful Kekkei Genkai selected as targets during the meeting—Dark Release, Swift Release, Crystal Release, Boil Release, and Storm Release—Danzo already possessed two additional Kekkei Genkai: the Sharingan and Wood Release.

Although the current limb transplants were highly unstable, preventing Danzo from fully utilizing the abilities of the Sharingan and Wood Release, everything would change if he survived the fusion ritual.

His body would undergo a complete transformation.

At that point, Danzo would essentially be reborn, gaining complete mastery over the power of the Sharingan and even Wood Release!

The Sharingan, Wood Release, Dark Release, Swift Release, Crystal Release, Boil Release, and Storm Release—seven Kekkei Genkai encompassing all seven chakra natures, including Yin, Yang, and the five basic elements!

Just imagining a single individual possessing all seven of these Kekkei Genkai was enough to send chills down one’s spine!

Orochimaru felt that they were attempting to peer into a domain belonging to the gods.

If everything proceeded according to plan and Danzo successfully completed the final bloodline fusion ritual, then Danzo might very well become a new god—a god created by human hands.

At this thought, Orochimaru realized that perhaps only one term could truly describe the project they were currently undertaking...

Creating a God!
