Chapter 413: Chapter 413: Kamui vs. Kamui

Obito did not become angry at being deceived by Kakashi’s Lightning Style clone.

He indifferently turned around and looked at Kakashi, who was breathing heavily with exhaustion written all over his face.

"One Lightning Style clone, several uses of the Flying Thunder God Technique... Kakashi, just how much chakra do you have left?"

Kakashi’s expression tightened, his face growing even more somber.

During his earlier training, Kakashi had already consumed a large amount of chakra. And just now, in order to probe Obito’s objective, he had used the extremely chakra-intensive Lightning Style clone as well.

At this moment, just as Obito had said, there truly wasn’t much chakra left in his body.

Obito’s gaze then swept across the specially made kunai scattered throughout the training ground.

As one of the Fourth Hokage’s disciple, Obito was no stranger to his Sensei’s Flying Thunder God Technique. On the night of the Nine-Tails’ attack, he had even fought the Fourth Hokage himself.

Although his Sensei had thoroughly taught him a lesson on the spot, Obito had at least accumulated some actual combat experience against the Flying Thunder God Technique.

The Flying Thunder God Technique developed by the Second Hokage was different from Obito’s Mangekyō Sharingan space-time dōjutsu, Kamui. It required marked coordinates in order to travel through space.

Therefore, by exploiting this weakness, as long as he memorized all of the coordinates beforehand, even if his opponent possessed the Flying Thunder God Technique, they still wouldn’t be able to escape his pursuit.

After memorizing the positions of every specially made kunai in the training ground, Obito said, "I never expected you to become another variable as well. But it’s all over now. You have nowhere left to run!"

Kakashi’s face was filled with bitterness.

Since Kakashi had only recently begun training in the Flying Thunder God Technique, despite how hard he had worked, it was ultimately an extremely difficult space-time ninjutsu. Even with his talent and his complete dedication to mastering it, he had only barely crossed the threshold of proficiency.

Because of this, he had not yet had the time to scatter specially made kunai engraved with the Flying Thunder God formula across various locations like the Fourth Hokage had.

At present, every specially made kunai he could use as a destination for teleportation was inside this training ground.

There was simply no room for him to maneuver against the enemy.

Clatter...

Obito pulled out an iron chain and fastened its ends around his wrists, lowering his stance slightly.

Kakashi stared intently at Obito, tightening his grip around the specially made kunai in his hand.

Whoosh...

Amid the sharp sound of rushing wind, both of them moved at the same instant.

Obito charged straight toward Kakashi. However, his figure flickered in and out of existence like nothing more than a projection. He was clearly in his intangible state, rendering any attack against him ineffective.

Seeing this, Kakashi did not rush forward.

Instead, he hurled three specially made kunai toward Obito in rapid succession.

The three-tomoe Sharingan in his left eye spun rapidly, locking firmly onto the trajectories of the three specially made kunai. He was ready at any moment to use the Flying Thunder God Technique to shift his position and launch a sudden attack on Obito.

At the same time, high-intensity Lightning Release chakra once again gathered in his right hand.

Beneath the dazzling lightning, waves of sharp, piercing cries resembling the chirping of countless birds echoed throughout the training ground.

As he charged toward Kakashi, the corners of Obito’s mouth curled upward.

"As expected of sensei and disciple. Even the countermeasures they came up with are exactly the same."

Having already suffered from this trick once before, how could Obito possibly fail to see through Kakashi’s plan?

However, he firmly believed that the current Kakashi could never execute it with the same mastery as the Fourth Hokage.

So he wasn’t worried in the slightest.

His offensive continued without hesitation!

The battle of wits between the two unfolded in the span of a single fleeting instant.

Obito quickly reached Kakashi.

With a flick of his wrists, the iron chain in his hands danced through the air in a flurry of loops before whipping toward Kakashi and attempting to bind him!

Meanwhile, Kakashi’s gaze finally locked onto the second specially made kunai he had thrown earlier.

He activated the Flying Thunder God Technique!

Whoosh...

The instant he activated the Flying Thunder God Technique, Kakashi abruptly vanished from beneath Obito’s attack and reappeared about five feet behind him, immediately launching a counterattack.

By this point, Kakashi had already realized that there was still a problem with his grasp of the timing.

But the situation no longer gave him any room to think about it.

Hearing the piercing cry of Chidori erupt behind him, the smile on Obito’s face did not diminish in the slightest.

The Fourth Hokage’s Flying Thunder God: Second Step, with a counterattack window of only a fraction of a second, was indeed something Obito couldn’t handle.

But Kakashi’s counterattack, which took nearly two or three seconds?

Obito could dodge that with his eyes closed.

Swiftly switching from his solid state back into intangibility, Obito watched with a smile as a stunned Kakashi passed straight through his body from behind and stumbled out in front of him.

"It’s over!"

The thought flashed through Obito’s mind.

He immediately reached out with his right hand and grabbed Kakashi’s shoulder from behind.

Having missed his counterattack, Kakashi had already completely lost his balance. When Obito suddenly yanked him backward, his entire body tilted sharply to the left, turning him around to face Obito.

But after consuming so much chakra, Kakashi’s mind was already becoming hazy, and even his legs were beginning to give out.

At this point, forget launching another counterattack—he could barely even steady himself.

Obito did not hesitate.

He immediately activated Kamui.

A distorted vortex appeared over Kakashi’s shoulder.

That strange sensation of being pulled apart—at once familiar yet unfamiliar—descended upon Kakashi once again.

With his face deathly pale, Kakashi knew that he probably wouldn’t make it out of this alive today.

So he steeled his heart and, disregarding the consequences, activated the Mangekyō Sharingan in his left eye!

In private, Kakashi had attempted to activate the Mangekyō Sharingan in his left eye many times before.

But without exception, every time he activated it, he would immediately be overwhelmed by a violent wave of drowsiness and disorientation. At best, he would become dizzy and lightheaded; at worst, he would lose consciousness on the spot.

Although these symptoms had gradually begun to lessen as he practiced more, the Mangekyō Sharingan in his left eye was still far from being ready for actual combat.

But now that he was already facing certain death, Kakashi had no more reservations.

There was only one thought left in his mind—

Even if I have to die with him, I’ll eliminate this powerful enemy and remove a hidden threat to the village!

"You...!?"

The moment Obito saw the strangely familiar pattern of the Mangekyō Sharingan in Kakashi’s left eye, he was stunned.

And at that exact moment, another distorted vortex suddenly appeared out of thin air, directly over Obito’s chest.

Feeling that incomparably familiar sensation of being pulled apart coming from his chest, Obito found the entire situation utterly absurd.

For a moment, he didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

Kakashi was equally stunned.

The instant he activated Kamui, information regarding the Mangekyō Sharingan dōjutsu naturally surfaced in his mind.

But that wasn’t what shocked him.

What truly stunned Kakashi was the realization that the dōjutsu of his left eye seemed to be exactly the same as the technique used by this powerful member of Akatsuki!

Whoosh...

The two of them vanished separately into two distorted vortices—

and then simultaneously appeared inside the Kamui Dimension.

Even now, the two remained frozen in the exact same positions as before.

Obito’s hand was still gripping Kakashi’s shoulder.

Kakashi’s eye was still stretched wide open, glaring fiercely at Obito’s chest.

For a moment, the atmosphere became incredibly strange...
