Chapter 12: Chunin-Level Strength, Might Guy’s Taijutsu Talent

  • Next Chapter

However.

Over the next half a month, Reiji was practically reduced to a wreck.

There was no other reason.

Since this was Might Guy’s first time serving as a Jonin instructor, he naturally held nothing back.

He even intended to pass on his trump card, the Eight Gates, to Reiji.

However.

Mastering the Eight Gates required an exceptionally strong physique, as well as year after year of training.

Only by gradually strengthening the body through training could one adapt to the power released after opening the Eight Gates.

Take Might Guy himself, for example.

At his current level, his body could withstand at most the Sixth Gate.

If he forcibly opened the Seventh Gate, he might very well die on the spot.

And in order to teach Reiji the Eight Gates, Might Guy first put Reiji through a period of adaptive training.

For the past half a month, he had Reiji train alongside him every day, but at one-tenth of Guy’s own training volume.

Even so, Reiji was practically dying.

He complained about Might Guy endlessly in his heart.

Was that amount of training even something a human being could endure?

An ordinary person would consider running a few dozen laps a workout, yet you were running several thousand laps!

And on top of that, he was still not even eight years old!

By now.

Reiji had finally come to understand that people like Might Guy and Rock Lee must possess some kind of special talent for taijutsu.

There was a saying in his previous life: "Don’t erase my hard work by calling me a genius."

But in Reiji’s view, the reverse was equally important.

"Don’t ignore the possibility that someone is also a genius simply because they work extremely hard!"

People like Might Guy were the perfect example!

Right now.

Reiji had just finished a day of hellish training and was forcing his exhausted body back home. The moment he entered, he collapsed flat on the ground.

His head was dizzy, stars danced before his eyes, and every muscle in his body ached.

"Sigh. Maybe I should just give up on the Eight Gates."

Reiji felt deeply frustrated.

Recently, whenever Izumi saw how miserable he looked, she would always worry about him and urge him to take things easier.

Uchiha taijutsu relied on the Sharingan’s perception and was a more technique-oriented fighting style.

Might Guy’s Strong Fist style, on the other hand, placed greater emphasis on strength and speed!

The enhancements provided by the Eight Gates also mainly focused on strength and speed.

However.

When it came to a life-saving technique like the Eight Gates, there was no way Reiji could not be tempted by it.

Just as Reiji was struggling internally—

[Congratulations, host. Your overall strength has increased to Chunin (Weak).]

[The host’s overall strength has advanced by one stage. The system is analyzing a new talent...]

[Analyzing Might Guy’s taijutsu talent... Analysis complete. Enhancement in progress... Enhancement complete. Congratulations, host! You have obtained a God-Level Taijutsu Talent!]

Reiji immediately shot upright from his deathbed-like state.

He checked the system panel.

[Overall Strength: Chunin (Weak)]

[Sharingan Pupil Power: LV1 (45/50)]

[Chakra Amount: LV2 (50/500)]

[Taijutsu: Your physique is naturally exceptional, allowing you to master all kinds of taijutsu with twice the results for half the effort.]

Seeing the increase in his overall strength, Reiji was not particularly surprised.

During this period of daily training with Might Guy, his pupil power and chakra reserves had both been gradually increasing.

Now that his overall strength had reached the Chunin level, it was simply the natural result of accumulated progress.

Still.

He could not help sighing inwardly.

Just a month ago, he could not even compare to the weakest Genin.

During their daily sparring sessions, he could not even beat the little girl Izumi...

Now, a month had passed. He had graduated early and become a Genin, mastered the hand-seal-less Great Fireball, awakened the One-Tomoe Sharingan and was even close to the Two-Tomoe stage, while his overall strength had reached the Chunin level!

All he could say was this:

In the Naruto world, talent was simply too important.

Calming himself, Reiji felt the effects of his newly acquired taijutsu talent.

"Huh?"

A look of surprise appeared on Reiji’s face. He immediately stood up and moved his body around, even jumping twice.

His body had been unbearably sore just moments ago.

Yet now, it had completely recovered?

And that was not all.

Reiji threw a punch, and the violent friction between his fist and the air produced a sound resembling a sonic boom.

"My speed has increased quite a bit."

Reiji then tried out some of the taijutsu techniques he had recently learned from Might Guy.

"Leaf Whirlwind!"

His high-speed spinning kick struck a stone in the courtyard. With a boom, the stone shattered!

Seeing this, Reiji nodded in satisfaction.

His strength had increased tremendously, and his movements had also become more precise.

In the neighboring courtyard, someone seemed to have heard the commotion. A little head poked over the courtyard wall.

"Reiji, get some proper rest! Stop messing around."

Izumi spoke angrily.

Why was this guy so careless with his own body?

Every day, he trained himself to the point where he could barely walk properly, and now, late at night, he still refused to rest and was messing around in the courtyard!

"Got it, got it."

Reiji answered with a bright smile, then happily went back inside to sleep.

He even had a dream.

In his dream, he had Night Guy on his feet and Eighty Gods Vacuum Attack in his hands, discussing the Will of Fire with Hiruzen Sarutobi.

The next day.

Reiji met up with Might Guy.

"We’ve been doing adaptive training for half a month. Today, let’s give it a try and see where your potential really lies."

Might Guy grinned, but there was also a hint of guilt in his voice.

"When I was your age, I trained with my father. Back then, I could handle a training volume equivalent to one-third of what I do now!"

That was a lie.

When he was eight years old, his training volume had only been about one-fifth of what he did now.

He had said this in order to stimulate Reiji’s competitive spirit as much as possible and draw out more of his potential.

"Understood!"

Reiji clenched his fists, anticipation hidden in his eyes.

He also wanted to see just what level of talent the system had given him after enhancing Might Guy’s taijutsu talent.

"Good! Youth should know no limits!"

Might Guy gave a thumbs-up and took off running ahead.

"Let’s start with five hundred laps as a warm-up!"

Only after he started running did Reiji truly experience the changes in his body.

Running had become far easier than before, and both his stride and breathing were much more stable.

In the past, after completing this amount of training, he would already have been exhausted to the point of collapse.

Now, his breathing was merely somewhat rapid, while his energy remained extremely vigorous!

"Excellent! Now, one thousand squats. Start immediately!"

The anticipation in Might Guy’s eyes grew stronger as he increased the training volume.

However.

As the training volume gradually increased, Might Guy soon realized that something was wrong.

The current training volume had already reached one-fifth of his usual amount—the level he had been capable of handling as a child.

But.

Might Guy swallowed as he looked at Reiji, who was clearly still full of energy.

"Guy-sensei, let’s keep going. I’m fine."

Reiji calmed his breathing and spoke.
