Chapter 910: [910] : The Second Form of Super Saiyan
Chapter 910: [910] : The Second Form of Super Saiyan
The moment Goku heard "a hundred times stronger," his excitement surged. "Since you know about Super Saiyan 2, can you teach us?" he asked eagerly.
Shin shook his head. "I may know about it, but I’m not a Saiyan. How could I possibly know how to achieve that state?"
Goku nodded, not pressing the issue. But Shin could see it in his eyes—Goku’s desire for Super Saiyan 2 was palpable. He wouldn’t have asked so eagerly otherwise.
Shin was actually very curious about the power of a Saiyan transformation, which was why he wanted to learn Instant Transmission from Goku. But he couldn’t just ask outright; Goku might not agree. So, Shin decided to dangle the bait. It was the only way he could get Instant Transmission from Goku and, in turn, the Super Saiyan reward from the System.
Just then, Goku, seeing that Shin had nothing more to say, turned to walk toward Vegeta. As a former prince who was well-read in Saiyan history and secrets, Vegeta might know something.
At that moment, Shin spoke up. "I may not know how to enter the Super Saiyan 2 state, but..."
Goku spun back around. "But? But what? You have some information?"
Shin nodded. "That’s right. A friend of a friend of mine once reached Super Saiyan 2. I heard a few things."
"Then tell us!" Goku was getting anxious.
Shin knew Goku’s personality wouldn’t be able to handle the suspense. Sure enough, the fish had taken the bait.
He smiled. "But, as you know, Goku, all power comes with a price."
Goku nodded. It was a fundamental principle of the universe.
Shin continued, "So, I can’t just give you this information for free, can I?"
"What do you want? We’ll do our best to get it for you." Goku wasn’t an idiot. He knew Shin wanted something in return.
"I want to learn your Instant Transmission. In exchange, I’ll tell you what I know about Super Saiyan 2. Of course, only what I know."
Shin held out his hand. Goku slapped it. "Deal. So, who goes first?"
Achieving Super Saiyan 2 wasn’t something that could be rushed, and Shin certainly couldn’t just claim he’d deliver on his end first. The two of them were at a standoff.
Finally, it was Goku who broke the silence. "Is it because you can’t guarantee your information is reliable?"
Goku had figured it out.
"Yes. While I can give you the information, I can’t prove that it’s what you’re looking for."
"Or rather, while it’s reliable, you won’t be able to turn it into fighting power in a short amount of time."
"That’s why I can’t offer to go first," Shin explained.
Hearing this, Goku, being the good-natured person he was, said, "You took care of King Cold for us. We should repay you for that anyway."
"I’ll teach you Instant Transmission first."
But Shin shook his head. "No, I’ll give you the information first, then you can teach me."
"After all, my information isn’t worth much to anyone else. But Instant Transmission is different."
After a brief discussion, Shin led Goku, Vegeta, and Trunks into a small room. He used a ninjutsu to soundproof the area and began to explain.
In truth, Shin didn’t know the exact method for achieving Super Saiyan 2. But he had seen it in the manga.
First, he told the three of them that to reach the second form, they had to be at the absolute peak of their Super Saiyan state. Otherwise, even if they had enough emotional buildup, their bodies wouldn’t be able to handle the energy, and they would fail.
Second, they needed an immense amount of emotional energy, preferably sorrow and anger. For Saiyans, anger was an easy emotion to access, so they should focus on that.
Finally, Shin added that if they wanted to guarantee they could enter this state, they had to train diligently. Only if their soul and spirit could support the weight of that emotion could they ensure their transformation into Super Saiyan 2.
Shin knew that Gohan had been able to transform into a Super Saiyan 2 as a child, but because he was so young, he couldn’t fully grasp its power. In the Dragon Ball manga, Goku and Vegeta had used the Hyperbolic Time Chamber to turn a single day into a year of training. But since he had traveled back twenty years to give them this information, the results should be even better than in the manga.
After he finished his explanation, Shin had the three of them give it a try.
As expected, Vegeta and Trunks couldn’t do it. Only Goku could feel a flicker of that power, because only he had reached the peak of his Super Saiyan state.
The four of them had been gone for so long that Kushina was getting antsy. After all, she had always been the one by Shin’s side, and now she was in a place she didn’t know at all. The fact that Shin had left her outside alone made her quite unhappy.
But he didn’t keep her waiting for too long. Soon, Shin and the other three emerged.
Kushina walked over to Shin and murmured, "Shin, please don’t leave me alone here."
Although Kushina had seen her share of life and death, this environment was truly difficult for her to accept.
Shin patted Kushina’s head. "Alright, alright. It won’t happen again. From now on, I’ll take you with me wherever I go."
Goku and the others watched the two of them, a smile on their faces. After all, Saiyans didn’t usually bring their families along on their travels and battles. Someone like Shin, who brought his sister along, was unheard of.
A strange thought flickered through Vegeta’s mind. It reminded him of some of the more... degenerate royal histories he had once read about on conquered planets. An unusually close bond.
