Without any further wasted breath, the battle between the Soul Reapers and the Quincies erupted. Or rather, Old Man Yamamoto, a man of few words and decisive action, charged straight into the enemy ranks.
With Ryūjin Jakka in its Shikai state, the sheer power of his flames kept the ordinary Sternritter members from even daring to approach him.
"Shin, you can’t just stand there and watch the show," Shunsui Kyoraku called out. He had a feeling that if he didn’t say something, Shin would happily remain a spectator.
"Of course not. I have some integrity. Since I took your money, I’ll definitely fight. Have a little faith," Shin replied.
He fully intended to participate this time. Primarily because Byakuya Kuchiki had already paid up.
If Byakuya hadn’t paid, there was a high probability Shin would have stood on the sidelines for a while. But since the transaction was complete, he had to pull his weight. Besides, Shin enjoyed a good fight.
"Allow me to play with Yhwach’s Elite Guard."
Shin’s figure vanished, instantly reappearing in front of Yhwach’s Schutzstaffel—the strongest forces under the Quincy King’s command.
Lille Barro, Sternritter ’X’ - The X-Axis. His ability allowed his rifle to pierce through anything in a straight line between the muzzle and the target. No defense could block it.
Pernida Parnkgjas, Sternritter ’C’ - The Compulsory. The Left Arm of the Soul King. It could manipulate its own nerves to invade and control inorganic and organic matter, altering their shape and movement.
Askin Nakk Le Vaar, Sternritter ’D’ - The Deathdealing.
Gerard Valkyrie, Sternritter ’M’ - The Miracle.
These four comprised Yhwach’s Royal Guard, possessing combat power far exceeding the other Sternritter. Of course, there were exceptions, such as Jugram Haschwalth, who likely surpassed them.
There was also Gremmy Thoumeaux, ’V’ - The Visionary, whose power was conceptually broken and certainly not weaker than the Elites.
However, no matter how strong an ability was, it depended on the user. If the user was weak or foolish, they would eventually be defeated.
That said, some Schrifts were undeniably broken. Case in point: Lille Barro fired a bullet straight at Shin.
It was a shot that could pierce through anything, a bullet that no defense could stop.
"You’re dead," Lille Barro sneered, watching as the shot pierced Shin’s heart.
"Is that so? I don’t think so."
The hole in Shin’s heart healed instantly. Still, he had to admit, piercing his body was an impressive feat.
"High-Speed Regeneration?" Lille Barro looked at Shin in shock. The recovery speed was too fast—even a Vasto Lorde couldn’t regenerate that quickly.
"No, this is Immortality."
Shin didn’t mind explaining it to him. After all, the man was about to die.
"Goodbye."
Hado #90: Kurohitsugi (Black Coffin).
The black box engulfed Lille Barro. Countless blades of gravity tore through the space inside. Lille Barro was sliced into pieces before he could react. Dead.
Just like that, one of the Elite Guards was effortlessly eliminated by Shin. The confident smiles on the others’ faces vanished instantly.
"How could a mere Hado spell kill Lille Barro?"
The others couldn’t believe it. Lille was dead, killed by a Kurohitsugi cast without an incantation?
"Why is it impossible? The truth is, you’re just too weak. If it were Yhwach, he certainly wouldn’t have died," Shin said calmly.
The strength of the Schutzstaffel was decent, and their abilities were tricky, but in the face of Shin’s immortality and raw power, they were incredibly fragile.
Shin turned his gaze toward a figure hiding its true form—Pernida Parnkgjas, the Left Arm of the Soul King—and Gerard Valkyrie, the Heart of the Soul King.
"I wonder if you two can withstand my Hado."
"Hado #88: Hiryū Gekizoku Shinten Raihō (Flying Dragon-Striking Heaven-Shaking Thunder Cannon)!"
A massive beam of blue lightning, possessing earth-shattering power, surged toward the remaining three elites. Ten seconds later, their figures were gone. Vaporized.
The Ice Palace of the Wandenreich was utterly annihilated in that direction, erased by a single Hado spell from Shin.
"Is that really the power of a Hado spell?"
The Soul Reaper Captains stared wide-eyed. While there were plenty of people who could use Hado #88, the only person capable of unleashing this level of devastation was Shin.
"It feels even more terrifying than Old Man Yamamoto’s Zanpakuto," Shunsui Kyoraku said with a bitter smile.
However, the fact that those three had managed to survive for ten seconds inside that terrifying lightning beam was impressive in its own right. If it had been Kyoraku, he doubted he could have lasted even a single second, let alone ten.
"Is there anyone else who wants to play? I’ll keep you company until the end," Shin asked with a smile, looking around at the remaining Quincies.
The smile on his face made their expressions turn bitter. Not a single person dared to step forward.
"Sigh, how disappointing," Shin shook his head. "I thought you’d have some courage, but I didn’t expect you to lack even that. I really look down on you."
Shin was openly despising them, but they endured it. Let him despise them; they knew they weren’t his match.
Even Jugram Haschwalth didn’t make a move against Shin. The Elite Guard had been wiped out instantly. These weren’t ordinary soldiers; they were the chosen few.
If Shin had won a hard-fought battle, perhaps they would have summoned the courage to fight. But Shin hadn’t struggled—he had crushed them with overwhelming ease.
"You see the situation, right? I suggest you either surrender or tell Yhwach to come out."
Shin was puzzled. Hadn’t Yhwach revived yet? The enemy was at his doorstep; why wasn’t he showing himself?
What Shin didn’t know was that Yhwach believed his subordinates were strong enough to hold off the Soul Reapers. He had planned to recover more of his power slowly.
Who could have predicted that Shin would step in and instantly annihilate his Elite Guard?
Losing the others was manageable, but losing the Left Arm and the Heart of the Soul King was unacceptable. However, with Auswahlen, he should be able to revive them.
Indeed, Yhwach’s Auswahlen could bring them back. He might not waste the effort on ordinary Sternritter, but for his Schutzstaffel, Yhwach would absolutely revive them. He still needed their power.
