Chapter 756: NASM - 756

"I never thought the Black Tortoise would live in such a peculiar place. There’s such a long path leading to its lair. It seems it rarely swims out from the bottom of the lake. Maybe it only comes out at night to move around and find a little food!" Hiroshi thought, activating his Golden Pupils, since the tunnel was getting darker and darker, making it impossible to see clearly otherwise.

"I really was lucky to obtain these Golden Pupils. I can see the path perfectly even in such darkness. It works just like those night-vision devices I remember from my old world—it’s incredibly convenient!" Hiroshi said with a smile, looking at the path ahead which was now bright and clear to his eyes.

He was getting closer and closer to where the tortoise rested. The path had indeed been quite long.

"Just wait there, little turtle, and accept your fate. Your big brother is almost there. Once I arrive, I’ll finish you off with a single strike—swift and clean. With my strength, I can take you down in an instant, which will save me a lot of trouble and effort!" Hiroshi thought to himself as he continued deeper into the cavern.

Now he was very close. His sharp ears could already clearly hear the creature’s slow, steady breathing.

It had taken quite a while to get here—five or six minutes just walking. This passage really was long.

"I’m exhausted! But I finally made it. And look at this, the turtle is still fast asleep. What a lazy creature! Though, maybe it’s simply active only at night," Hiroshi thought, spotting the Black Tortoise resting just a short distance ahead.

He steadied his focus and slowly drew an enormous weapon from his storage ring. It was the great blade he had obtained a year ago. Even now, he hadn’t been able to unleash its full, ultimate power, but it was still more than enough for this. When he first got it, he knew this weapon was capable of cutting through iron like mud, sharp and incredibly fast.

"Let’s finish this in one go. Get it done quickly, then get back outside. I wonder what kind of reward I’ll get for completing this mission?" Hiroshi said, looking at the massive blade in his hand with a confident smile.

With that, he moved silently toward the resting Black Tortoise.

He was now right beside it, the breathing sound loud and clear in his ears.

"Please let this go exactly as I hope—quick and simple. Save me time, keep me safe and unhurt, and let me end this effortlessly!" Hiroshi prayed silently, gripping his great sword firmly.

He moved right up to the creature’s neck. Taking advantage of the fact that it was still sound asleep, he swung his blade down hard and cleanly severed its head from its body in one swift motion.

"Damn! It really was just as easy as I thought. I can’t hear it breathing anymore—perfect! The mission is finally complete. This turtle is really strange though... it isn’t bleeding at all. And it was huge, massive even, but I still took it down with just one strike!" Hiroshi thought to himself.

Hearing the System’s notification, Hiroshi knew for certain that he had successfully defeated the giant beast.

"I never expected this mission to be so simple. Now I can go back and enjoy my day. I wonder what the reward is though? Ah well, I’ll check it later when I have time. No rush now," Hiroshi said with a smile, returning his weapon to his storage ring.

Then, he began walking slowly back the way he came, along the damp and slippery passage, heading toward the exit.
